This is an electronic version of "want-ads" for those who are in to play a certain game(s) on VASSAL, Cyberboard, or live on SKYPE, and who are searching for opponents.
This list is released monthly, just to keep it fresh.
If a game is already there, go ahead and add it again. You probably want to click "subscribe" on your Geeklist item, so that you can see if you have any takers.
If you wish to add a game, please include this data:
Format: VASSAL, Cyberboard, SKYPE, as well as PBEM (Play by E-mail), Live, or both
Teach? Can you teach it or are you willing to?
Expertise: How much experience do you have with this game?
ONCE YOU HAVE AN OPPONENT: Please don't edit your original entry to indicate that you've found somebody to play--this will trigger a new subscription notification, for those who subscribe. All you need to do is just comment below the item that you've found an opponent(s). This doesn't trigger a notification.
Format: VASSAL (live or PBEM, etc) We are specifically looking for players who would be interested in long campaign games lasting multiple months. For example, instead of "most gold" winning the game, gold can be used to purchase new ships and crew, with the last fleet afloat winning once all the other fleets are eliminated. For an example of how it might work, check out the battle reports for VASSAL Campaign Game 3.
Format: Vassal. Please use version 1.2 of the module. I would like to play in real time on the server, but will do email if you don't mind that I might take longer than a day to move sometimes. I will try to move at least once per day.
Teach: The rules are easy. I could give advice during play, or after the game is over, or I could just play, however you like. Handicapping is available.
I've never played this but feel fairly confident I can play it properly after watching Mike Whit's playthrough/read the rules. I'd like to play with someone as inexperienced or someone that knows the game but don't mind missing out of a fierce challange,
I'm quite flexible and can do different hours. Would prefer a series of ca 1 turn sessions.
Format: VASSAL PBEM, preferably with Dropbox, though email is possible as well Teach? Nope. We could learn together. Expertise: Noob.
I've played the prior Storm over Arnhem and Thunder at Cassino, as well as a couple newer takes on the Area Impulse system. But missed this one back in the day. Looking to play with another noob or someone who knows the game but isn't a tourney level player.
Format: VASSAL PBEM, file exchange or using Dropbox.
Teach?: No - just received the game and will be learning as well
Expertise: (Reissue of game invite) Been fascinated by the bomber campaign against Germany in WWII but have no experience of this game system. Would welcome guidance from an experienced player. Equally willing to learn along with a newbie.
Experience: I have played ~8 games so far, I think I'd consider myself decent strategywise. Would prefer to play without ACTS (never used it, and I personally like to think that people are honest). I prefer a decent pace of at least one move per day. I also like a friendly, not super competitive game (i.e. if someone makes a supply error, maybe ask if they are sure they want to commit to this move). Open to either side.
