I haven't done hard-core crafting in a while, but I have a few items stacking up.

My custom box for Sushi Go Party split, so I took a random expansion box and put everything in there. I have the cover files designed but not printed/applied.

Same story with my custom Glory to Rome box -- graphics designed, just need to print them out.

I just played my PNP copy of 2Rooms and a Boom the other day, and realized how beat up my cards are getting -- I may need to remake those this month, too

Looking forward to some posts on this list for inspiration -- might PNP a full game!

Game: Wildfire Escape!

Cost: Free PnP

Build Difficulty: Easy. 24 tiles, a couple of pages of cards, a few tokens.

Played: yes, it's a fun, short filler. Play tested and provided feedback to Karl, the game designer. Part of the 2018 Mint Tin Game Design contest.

Files and rules: [WIP] Wildfire Rescue! - 2018 Mint Tin Design Contest Entry (Contest Ready)

Notes:

SHOWCASE: Wildfire Escape, co-op (therefore soloable), 2-4 players, 10-15 minutes game in which campers are caught in a sudden wildfire spreading though the forest. Now they must use their limited tools, find a way to team up, and race to their car to escape before the wildfire catches them! By Karl Juhlke, and entry to the 2018 Mint Tin Game Design Contest.

Tiles are single-sided, printed on adhesive label stickers, mounted on chipboard. Cards are double-sided, adhesive label stickers with card stock core. Four round player tokens are included, which I mounted on vinyl floor tile and scissor-cut into circles.

Gameplay is fast and can be really tough at first without the right tools. The Event cards provide tension because you don’t know what will happen from turn to turn — the wildfire could spread, or a Fire Rescue plane could fly over and put out some of the flames, or...nothing could happen! (Yes, there’s a card that says nothing happens.)

Graphics are cute, hand-drawn. It’s a compact little filler, worth the build and great for kids!

Sorry about the blurry second image, my phone camera isn't very good.

Did this one for a friend of mine who likes pirates. Custom dice are laser printed weatherproof label paper on white blank dice. Grog tokens are yellow 25mm x 4mm wood tokens. The player aides are full sheet label paper laminated on chipboard backed with contact paper. Box is an upcycled cell phone box. Need to find a source for those, they could be used for a lot of builds!

There is a lot of game in this little tin, they aren't kidding about that. Seems like a neat little worker placement type game.

I went with cubes instead of discs because I figured they'd be easier to pick up. I laminated the whole thing in case he actually wanted to play in a pub.

Components are 110lb cardstock laser printed and laminated. Wood cubes and meeples. The tin I got in a six pack of tins from Amazon.

I ended up laminating all the components so that hopefully they'll last a long time; however, I think this may have a detrimental effect on gameplay. I haven't played this one, but I understand you have to balance the cards on the dice. The lamination is quite slippery, and may make that too hard. I don't currently know how to make cards by hand, and the thread about making cards has become fairly convoluted and confusing. It's something I may pursue next year; that is, learning how to make cards.

Components are 110lb cardstock laser printed and laminated. 8mm Clear acrylic cubes for score counters.

Doing this one for a friend at work who has four daughters. I wanted to give him a game he could play with them that had a strong female protagonist (despite the ending if you get really high points).

This was supposed to be the year of the roll and write, but I botched that, as you'll see... blush

This game says it's for one player, but I see no reason it couldn't play pretty much as many as you want. This setup is for up to 8 players.

Components are 110lb cardstock laser printed and laminated. Arteza dry erase markers with built in erasers (Amazon). The box (and this made me sooooooo happy) is from Michaels. It's a, "Celebrate It!" box and it's just exactly the right size to fit those laminated sheets.

I made one set for 8 players, and the other for 6. I think this looks like a really interesting and fun roll and write (and it did win a contest and get published, so there must be something to it). It seems like a light version of Dinosaur Island, which I have played.

All the components fit nicely in the box, which is nice. I included a brown marker for the roads, if anyone wants to use it. Components are 110lb cardstock, laser printed and laminated. Arteza dry erase markers with built in erasers. One Madisi dry erase marker with built in eraser. Celebrate It! Medium box from Michaels.

For me, a fifty card game is a big project so this might be the big game I end the year on.

I am also making a copy of Sprawlopolis and The Perfect Moment, along with a handful of smaller, nine card games.

People from my local English speaking club really love playing Spyfall, but ordering a copy in English is kind of a difficult process here – and I wanted to practice my fresh new Xara Designer anyway.
You do not need fancy cards to play a word game, but they do add some magic to the process.

Inspired by the many PnP copies of the game, I decided to make a “universal” version, in a sense.
Before the game, write down nine locations (A1 through C3) on several sheets of paper – these can be chosen from the official list or brainstormed on the go! Play six-seven games, then change the list.
This way everyone will have to peek into the locations list from time to time, and you should get more mileage out of a cheaper setup. =)

I like to look through the Children's PNP contest for things to play with my son. Though I have plenty of matching games, this one seemed charming and with some difference in play for growth.

[WIP] Sweet Treats! - 2018 Children's Game PnP Contest entry

I rethemed it to be about tacos, pizza, ramen, and salad, to avoid the temptation that multi-flavored ice cream would bring.

From gallery of yamaraus

I'm not super happy with some of the final foods, but I'm really pleased with the tiny icons and the card backs, as well as the favorite cards. Perhaps if I'm in the need of some drawing relaxation, I'll redraw the central images, but they're okay, without hand-drawing every single of the 40 foods.

Eventually to be added to my geeklist of PNP things.

I actually printed the cards last month at the FedEx store after I downloaded it from Button Shy.

This month I bought my own printer and I decided to upgrade the game a little bit.

First, I made a tuck box for it.

External image

External image

The front and back have the same image. I used the image from the rules and added the border from one of the cards.

When I watch shows or long videos, I like to have something else to do. So today while I watched the Ultimate Fighting Championship, I made backs for the playing cards. It seemed fitting to work on my pretty flower game while watching a blood sport.

External image

The back is a little on the busy side, but I think it's fitting. I got the image from oldbookillustrations.com.

External image

External image

I think it turned out pretty nice. It's definitely a step up from the blank card backs. Now I just need to find some people to play it with. I'm going to be visiting my parents soon, so hopefully I'll be able to talk them into a game.

Holy crap, it's been a looooong time since I worked on a PnP project. Ever since we moved into this apartment, I haven't had a good crafting space, and I've been focused on painting miniatures in what space I do have.

But for my birthday I really wanted to play the new 2nd edition of Dune the Dice game. All my copies of the game (and custom dice) are now outdated so I had to start this one from scratch.

I was rushing and scarred up a few of the token faces, but it really reminded me how much I miss PnP crafting. I'm thinking about doing a card game next (Dale of Merchants, I'm looking at you...).

Components are: Cards - 110lb cardstock laser printed and laminated, Movers - 110lb cardstock, prize tokens - laser printed weatherproof label paper mounted on illustration board. Doesn't seem like many components!

This one is for my sister who has four kids, one of whom is special needs. I think the lamination will help keep the game in playable shape for a long time.

I forgot what a pain that is. Arch punches are tough to get good results with! Someone else was saying that too earlier!

This was an interesting find, and I'm not sure it counts as having been "crafted." It's pretty much just printed out; I didn't even have to cut anything.

This is a good game for people who play D&D or who like storytelling games. I'm not sure how it will go over for the family I made it for, but I guess we'll see.

Components are laser printed paper and everything else I bought!

I made this one for a new guy in our office who is studying mechanical engineering. Thought it might be fun for him.

I'm hoping this will be a hit for one of the families on my list. It seemed like it would be fun. This one, of all the games I crafted, probably game me the most issues. That's just because the printer I usually use was down, so I had to use a different one and it didn't do as well. Still, I'm pretty happy with how it came out! The double sided board came out nice.

This one seemed like it could be fun, so I made it for a couple I know. Hope they enjoy it!

This is a game I stumbled across a while ago, and is part of why I wanted to make that list of sites where you can get free PnP games. This is called Tribes of Balbur, and it's a roll and write game with some area control and resource gathering. I included Blankout in this box because the gentlemans wife to whom I'm giving this does not like thinky games, but he and some of his five kids do.
