This is a list of games related to The Continuation War (1941-44) between Finland and Soviet Union. For rest of the world this is just one of the side shows of the battle between Germany and Soviet Union in 1941-45, but for Finland this was real deal where first the target was to gain back land lost in Winter War (attack phase in 1941), then hold on and hope that war will end without further fighting ("phony" war 1941-44), and finally defensive battle against full Soviet army attack in summer of 1944. Especially summer 1944 fighting turn out to be almost a replica from Winter War, with many battles fought in same areas than 4-5 years earlier. However, this time war ended in situation where Finnish army had halted Soviet advance in all fronts, and front line was stable.

This list accompanies an article on this subject, written in Finnish, from the same subject (not yet published). This is also a direct continuation of earlier list that focused on Finnish Civil War games (https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/253554/finnish-civil-war-...) and Winter War games (https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/254073/winter-war-1939-40). The Continuation War list will be followed by separate Lapland War (1944-45) list, and possibly other wars related to Finland (modern, before independence).

Games in this list are stand-alone games that focus on The Continuation War (that is, game contains everything to play the game), or The Continuation War is one of the scenarios. I have not included expansions, modules etc. that need base game to play (such as ASL scenarios and modules). I have also mostly left out miniature games, because I do not know that field very well.

Mistakes and missing games are possible, even probable. In such case any comments or opinions are welcome!

Games in list are ordered from oldest to newest.

Last game from 40's is called "Ristiretki bolshevismia vastaan" (Crusade Against Bolshevism) from year 1943 and it describes Eastern front campaign starting from 1941 (including Finland and German against Soviet Union). It's the only Continuation War game from 40's that describes actual battle/campaign, while others focus on more abstract, undefined battles.

Next we jump nearly 50-years to 90'. Salla describes German-Finnish attack against Soviet Union in Salla in 1941 (in area that Soviet Union overtook after Winter War). BGG have very little information on this game, except that it's hex-and-counter war game. It's also first of six (!) games by Michael Bennighof in this list.

My grandfather got seriously injured in Salla during this battle, making topic personal.

Two years later (1993) Michael Bennighof published another game describing German-Finnish attack in 1941-42, this time in Kestinga (Kiestinki) region, in Lapland. BGG have again very little information on this hex-and-counter game, but Youtube have 1h long video on game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzYKjK-22YE.

First game focusing on late war in 1944, when Soviet Union wanted to knock-out Finland from war, and started massive attack at the same time when Western allies landed in Normandy. Talli-Ihantala is largest battle in Scandinavia, and will probably stay so for quite long time. Unfortunately bgg has so little information on this game, that it's difficult to say anything on how it approached this battle.
