Games in which you plan multiples steps of your turn ahead of time, then you or the game engine play it out and see what comes of it. Sometimes it has hilarious results, sometimes it is incredibly frustrating when all your careful planning comes to an abrupt or messy end.

Bomb Squad is a cooperative programming game with hidden information. Your hand is treated similar to Hanabi--you can see what your other players have in their hand and can speak vaguely about their options, but you can't see your own hand. The board is a map where you are trying to guide robotic bomb sniffers/defusers, freeing hostages from the building while trying not to blow the heck up.

One of the best entries in the genre, and also one of the prettiest. MvM is a tabletop counterpart to the wildly popular video game League of Legends. For the price point, this is easily the most decked out game, with even the box liner being a thing of beauty. Played in a campaign style, you learn as you go, tearing open envelopes which reveal your objectives and rules about your abilities in that campaign. Really ingenious and a ton of fun, with just the COOLEST MECH MINIS!!

You play as a group of space prisoners trapped on a dying prison ship. You need to avoid capture while finding computer systems to open doors, and keep the oxygen flowing while you find your escape. Has some of the elements I like about Burgle Bros, in a space scenario with programming elements. What makes it really unique is that the board itself has concentric rings which rotate, opening up or closing off passageways from turn to turn. Makes it a unique puzzle and a fun visual and tactile element to the game.

While not as thinky as other programming games this does have basic simultaneous action selection and then you watch as it plays out. Commanding a small crew of pirates, everyone is trying to move about, hopefully pushing or forcing competing pirates off a plank while staying alive themselves. Of course, this plank can grow or shrink as well, so the step you thought you could take in front of you may just be open ocean by the time your turn activates. Light, fun, take-that playful mechanics.

There is an original and a reprint of this game. Mechanically they are the same, but the one I got to play was an original. Really like the art, which today seems retro, but is more immersive in theming, in my opinion. You play as warring robots on a fixed board which has elements which turn you, move you, and otherwise shift your position. Sometimes you can (and must!) take advantage of these moving parts, and sometimes a well-planned turn becomes disastrous when you accidentally find your bot on a conveyor belt into an abyss. Racing to collect the flags while shooting at one another, or avoiding being shot, winner takes all.

I am setting this here as a placeholder, since we just received our KS for this game this week and haven't played it yet. Will add to this, or remove it from this list, once we get some plays in this weekend.

Player order is important as everyone has advanced knowledge of where other players might go to resolve their actions, so it can be frustrating to lose an action if you take a chance they are going somewhere else. Best to play it safe and take less resources, or kill the lesser threat, than waist too many actions. Actually a lot of fun to play.
