Summer is coming even stronger - and it is hitting us harder than previous month. Can we find the time to craft even games? Or do we prefer long days and longer nights at the beach?

Go tell us:

Received the premium pnp of this a week ago and have just the cards left to assemble.

Completed the cards so now I just have to try it

My son and I enjoyed it but it is a pretty light game...I pulled out an 81-80 win. While it works at two (especially for an area majority game), I suspect I would enjoy it more at higher player counts.

Have the adventurer cards and the player boards left. Files were sized incorrectly so I will have a super-size version (everything is 4x too big!)

Finished off the game!

Played it with my son and we both enjoyed it quite a bit.

Just downloaded the files for this.

Finished this off today and gave it a try with my son! I really like this one!

Caleb and I played the base game to try it out and we both really enjoyed the puzzle thus one provides. Trying to figure out a way to meet all the goals while minimizing negatives can be quite thinky! I wound up winning 7-6.5 (10 is a perfect score).

PnP files available in the Files section of the BGG page. Both color and B&W files available.

2-5 Player poker variant, hand management game.
Use the first basic Spell to play cards to the Community. Play thoughtfully, as everyone shares the cards in the Community! The second Spell is for building the Pot. In addition to Suit and Strength, every card has a point value. Cards played to the Pot contribute their points to the winner of each Showdown. Play cards to build a Pocket with the third Spell. (Never ask to see a wizard’s pocket!) Each player takes one of their Pockets and combines it with the Community to form a hand during Showdowns. The best hand claims all points in the Pot.

Printed Materials:
60 Cards
8 Mats

CARDS
No backs in the files so just used some basic playing cards I had and mounted with full sheet labels. 60 card deck so had to break into a second deck, luckily I had a set with the same backs.

From gallery of Brazillb2

MATS
Only up to 5 players but 8 mats, love that replayability. The actual game has these "spells" separated out into cards, but I like the idea of having them all in one place.

From gallery of Brazillb2

THOUGHTS
Easy build. I'm a big fan of poker but it doesn't quite have the same player decisions that modern board games do. This seems like a perfect middle ground. I have a feeling this will also go over well with friends/family that shy away from modern games but have plenty of experience with standard card games. Haven't been able to give this a try yet (no solo) but hoping to get in a round tonight!

Printing out Lantern, a solo roll 'n write adventure. Won the recent roll 'n write contest, and was intrigued anyway. Printed an extra copy to color in with my son.

1 page front and back for instructions, and one page for the game. Super easy! I'm sure there are dice around somewhere...

Update: I have made a colored in version, for people who like to laminate their roll 'n writes. Or I guess, also for people who have really cheap ink subscriptions. Just grab the instructions from the WIP page.

I recently purchased the game and decided to make a travel version as well.

I already had the travel Othello game for the board. I use it to store some looney pyramids in it as well.

Anyway I used some of the throwaway punch outs from Roll Player and then printed the Duke PnP at 70% to glue on them.

Board Game: The Duke

I would be interested in others ideas for materials and making some nicer looking PnP pieces.

The winner of the 2019 9-Card Contest so of course I had to make it. I hope to play it this month too.

I’ve also made Legacy of the Land and Saloon Shootout from the same contest.

I’m hoping to make at least one larger project this month but I knew some smaller projects would help get me going.

Cards are printed double sided on card stock and sleeved. I had a smaller set for years, but they were too hard to shuffle and were not sleeved. It was time.

Also have never liked the explore ships that come with the game and made these from an image of the box cover, laminated and printed on label sheet, mounted on cardboard taken from an old game box. It was just the right thickness for the stands.

I had already crafted some wooden ships, so, I just glued 'em on top of those (to get the diff. player colors). Not entirely satisfied, but these will work for the time being. May trim them up and find some smaller plastic stands in the right colors at some point.

Not a full P&P, but, it was a fun afternoon project to try and beat this heat wave. laugh

More 9 card games in mint tins! I've been meaning to print this for weeks and finally had a moment and a printer. Even though I ran a cleaning cycle, the black ended up streaking.

Board Game: Under Falling Skies: A 9-Card Print-and-Play Game

Don't have small cubes either. I'll see how it plays with these standard ones, and a streaky black, and if I like it I'll worry about it then.

16. Board Game: 1889: History of Shikoku Railways [Average Rating:8.07 Overall Rank:887]
Board Game: 1889: History of Shikoku Railways
In July I finished my long-ago-started PnP of 1889, my first foray into 18XX.

From gallery of Dom22

The board is just cardstock taped together, I will mount a full board if the game is successful with my gaming group. The round tokens were laser-cut in 6mm MDF, then affixed with punched-out adhesive paper. For the hexagonal tiles (2.5mm chipboard), I started with a dotted circular cutter (the technique is explained in this thread, by the way Carthaginian's 1889 redesign is just gorgeous) but I ended up using the alternative technique of cutting mid-depth for the first set of cuts.
Now I must convince my group to try the game!

Board Game: As Long as the Grass Grows: The Conquest of the American West 1845-1881
From gallery of deemac

I arranged the board images into a composite A1 (4xA3) file and printed the four parts separately onto A3 sheets (120gsm HR paper) hot-laminated using heavy duty pouches, trimming and hinging them to create a folding board. The image shows the board in folded mode.

From gallery of deemac

Cards: printed onto 160gsm High Resolution card, and hot laminated using 80micron gloss-finish pouches. Corners are rounded 5mm radius. I created the card backs using a Googled image. I now wish that I had made the white border wider (or had used my 3mm corner rounder instead).

From gallery of deemac

Tokens: printed onto 160gsm High Resolution card and mounted double-sided onto 2.5mm grey board. I edited the images of the counters intended as alternatives to wooden markers as hexagons to differentiate them (and added an image of a fort for theme).
As I do so often, I winged this project, and, despite the attraction of the theme, it remains to be seen whether or not this is something I could try out on the usual suspects. I will finish it (at his time I have only the rest of the cards to cut out), but whether or not it will be played any time soon is debatable, to be frank.

18. Board Game: Magic: The Gathering – Morningtide [Average Rating:7.46 Unranked] [Average Rating:7.46 Unranked]
Board Game: Magic: The Gathering – Morningtide
This is the entire set of ‘Morningtide’, having taken about three quarters of an hour to transfer the files plus the time taken to print and laminate the sheets.
From gallery of deemac

Cards: printed onto 160gsm High Resolution card, and hot laminated using 80micron matt-finish pouches. Corners will be rounded 3mm radius to match the publisher’s cards.
‘Magic: The Gathering’ may be a money-sink for some, but for PNPers it can be just another project. There is an obvious material cost, but having free access to the entire archive has a certain appeal. I think the total cost works out at about 2p a card, discounting my time of course at £0.00/hour. It might even make more economic sense to go shopping: but where is the fun in that?

Crafted this quick and dirty in my attempt to have more solitaire options. Glue-sticked the maps to the cardboard from one of the MegaMan Pixel Tactics boxes (also now in the travel case) and sleeved the cards with Magic cards. Since it's not likely that I'll get to play this two player much if at all, I didn't bother with the expansion, though I might just do the round tracker and the resource tokens, since it's easy to forget what the big cubes that are of different plastic than the little cubes for water, heat, and greenery are for.

Question for the collective group: how well does paper glued to cardboard take ModPodge as a finisher?

Finally getting around to printing up this 2018 Children's Contest entry. It's not actually a big build, but it's bigger than most of what I've been making lately. (9 card games are fast!)

There are updated files on the last page of the WIP thread, which fix some UI problems (like 6 and 9 on dice) and add some cards that need to work their way into the rules.

I bought some Micro Machines a while back, thinking to use them for PNP, and my son is already driving it around the unfinished map, delivering packages. They're not a perfect match, but here's what I have so far.

I made a box! Now my son remembers the game is there, and asked to play. He's been mostly asking for Ladybug Lunch lately (which has a box).

Board Game: Taiga

Details on the original build on my tiny gamer PNP geeklist.

Taiga is a super easy DIY PNP, if anyone has small kids that like Memory and are looking for something slightly more interesting.

This month I decided to pnp all the appealing/acclaimed rolls and writes in my list to try them out.

I dusted off the old laminator and color printer to make these:

Perfectly portable for a trip where there will be 5 nongamers.

There I have Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age, Corinth, Welcome To..., Welcome to Dino World and The Castles of Burgundy: The Dice Game.

I can say I'm definitely out of the Pnp slump I've been in!

(Thanks for all the geek gold here! I certainly wasn't expecting this! modest )

(made a different entry to the Tinyforming Mars I was making when I posted this)

Easy build, 18 double sided cards. Love the graphic design. One side of the cards are heroes; the other are monsters. It is a card-manipulation/set collection style game - fast and portable, enjoying this one!
