I am not in school, thankfully. Nor do I have young humans in school. But the stores are filled with school supplies and people acting extra crazy. And the summer hiatus for many of my recurrent meetings has ended (much sadness here). And really I'm just making up reasons because I feel like running another kindness challenge.

To enter: Add an item to this geeklist, perform an act of kindness each day for a week, and keep track of what you do each day. It is possible to do this 3 times before the challenge ends. If you choose to participate more than once, create a new geeklist item for each week. Each completed week (geeklist item) counts as one entry for the giveaway.

Your daily acts can be small or large - check out the previous challenges in Hedgehog kindness challenge subscription list for some ideas.

Prizes:
Grand prize winner: One person will be chosen as the "grand prize" winner (likely via a die roll). If the person lives in the United States (all 50 states) or Puerto Rico, they can choose to receive a game costing up to $40 from Amazon for me to send them or a Gamer Glass dragon of their color choice. Elsewhere can choose to receive a gift certificate of the equivalent of $40 for a local retailer (online or FLGS, as long as I can easily purchase it), or a Gamer Glass dragon of their choice. Free shipping worldwide is included in the prize.

Additionally, the winner will get to choose one of the following charities to receive a $150 donation:
charity:water
Ali Forney LGBT kids shelter
• Winner's local food bank
• Winner's local homeless shelter

Second prize: The second prize winner will win 100 geekgold,, courtesy of Nicolai Broen Thorning, and gets to choose one of the above charities to receive a $100 donation.

Third prize: The third prize winner will win 50 geekgold, courtesy of Nicolai Broen Thorning, and gets to choose one of the above charities to receive a $50 donation.

Three different people will be chosen for the prizes.

Finally, if you participate and do not yet own mb, I will gift you 8gg to purchase it and wear it during this month.

Deadline to enter: Wednesday, September 4th, 2019, at 4pm EST. Your geeklist item must have 7 days with acts of kindness listed by this time to count.

*Not an entry* (but I want to participate in my own challenge)

Week 1
Day 1, Aug 4: Let Jenn sit on the subway when a seat opened up and told an older gentleman to please stay seated (and not try to give up his seat to me)
Day 2, Aug 5: Made lunch and dinner for Jenn
Day 3, Aug 6: Volunteered to help with a project that was dropped
Day 4, Aug 7: Wiped down the sink edge in the bathroom twice today so that others would not get wet stomachs. We also helped one of the staff fix a problem she was having with Pokemon Go.
Day 5, Aug 8: I still interviewed a candidate today even though he was 30min late, and tried to give him as much of a chance as any other candidate during the interview itself.
Day 6, Aug 9: Spent some time digging out restaurant and siteseeing recommendations for a friend traveling this coming week.
Day 7, Aug 10: Completed the volunteer task from earlier in the week. Working to stay cognizant of my aunt's emotions in interactions with her.
Added to day 7: I drove friends back to their hotel (almost 30 min extra driving) despite purposely having picked the closest hotel so that we could get back quickly after the wedding.

Week 2
Day 1, Aug 11: I did 2/3 of the driving (extra kind after doing all the driving yesterday), including the more mentally intensive part, so that Jenn didn't have to.
Day 2, Aug 12: I tried to remind people to buy water on the way into the ballgame where it was cheaper, and then stood with them in the longer line even though I specifically didn't bring a bag to get in more quickly. I also had messed up scheduling at work and took on the extra task rather than pushing it off onto someone else that would have gotten it if I had done it right on Friday.
Day 3, Aug 13: Turned the task that I took on yesterday into a training opportunity for two different people even though it made the task take much longer (and required more social energy than I wanted to use today).
Day 4, Aug 14: Still tried to address someone's emotional needs even after she effectively insulted me. Also asked someone about their plans and how things were going even though this person never seems to care about anyone else anymore, which makes it hard to care sometimes. Thanked the bus driver (as usual).
Day 5, Aug 15: Carried a small bag of items back to my place tonight so that a friend can stay over tomorrow after a party without having to bring stuff with her. Also let the couple ladies working late know to go to another floor to use the restroom since ours was completely out of toilet paper. (I also tried to inform someone to make toilet paper show up, but that's always hit or miss.)
Day 6, Aug 16: Played a bit of "security guard" for friends to keep them from getting constantly bumped into by rude drunk ladies. Took video of the bachelorette up on stage. Stayed out for drinks to help celebrate (really just wanted to go home to bed). Treated friends to late night pizza. Paid for cab ride home for us.
Day 7, Aug 17: Kept doing Pokemon Go raids to help a friend try for a shiny. Gave a game to the friend who crashed at our place last night.

Week 3
Day 1, Aug 18: Only had one drink so that Jenn could drink more if she wanted and I could drive us home last night (4 hours after said drink). Made sure one of my reports fully understood she could come in "late" today (earlier than most of the rest but late for her).
Day 2, Aug 19: Shared some of the lasagna that a friend brought in for me with Jenn.
Day 3, Aug 20: Scanned a document for Jenn so that she didn't need to fight with it. Clarified for a coworker that a group request was not targeting her at all.

Aug. 1st: I gave a box of books to a family with kids.
Aug. 2nd: We had a new guy start at work so I gave him some of my old tools to get him started (I do this with every new hire.)
Aug. 3rd: This was my only scheduled day off from work in three weeks, but I volunteered to work a half day because the other maintenance guy went on vacation without letting anyone know.
Aug. 4th: Was suppose to work only a half day today but stayed late so my managers could take the day off.
Aug. 5th: Stayed extra late at work to finish up a job my manager was suppose to do earlier in the day but forgot.
Aug. 6th: A new family moved in and I noticed their young son didn't have hardly anything (a mattress, small bag of clothes and two cars) so I boxed up some of my boys' action figures, books, movies and stuffed animals to give to them.
Aug. 7th: Today is my short day anyways due to having to take my oldest son to his therapy sessions, so I talked my boss into letting me take the whole day off so I could go with my wife to visit her family, not only to be social but also so I could watch the boys' so she could spend more time visiting with all of them.

This is a really nice gesture, and I love the addition for the charities. If I won, I would choose the LGBTQ youth shelter.

Sun (Aug 4): Forgoing quiet last night of vacation with family and invited a friend over with her son for a hotdog BBQ so that she can have a nights rest after serving custody papers to her son’s father and the resulting upset. If she needs to talk, we’ll listen... if not, we will distract.
Mon: Helped two older ladies (strangers to me) who spoke only Broken English (and not the other language I speak) map out how to get to their destination on the T (Subway) during rush hour.
Tues: Cleaned up the floor for a peer who just spilled her coffee all over herself after a rough morning so she could concentrate on cleaning her clothes up and getting back to her day.
Wed: Bought donut holes for my grad class classmates all to share this morning. And I didn’t even eat one on the walk there, so, you know... I showed some self control...
Thurs: Gave my subway seat to a woman who walked in using a cane.
Fri: Let the anxious members of my team dictate when/how we presented (not what, that was truly a group effort) so they could feel most comfortable, because I knew our work was solid no matter what.
Sat: Went through all of our clothes with my wife to find donations and sent them off with my mother-in-law for donation.

I am rolling on with you, and will put in my entries when I figure out which week will be my kindness week.

Nice of you to start up this kindness List, Rose!

Day 1: 04.08.19
I offered my swim boss to make her a mini pizza while helping her with emails. She declined, but thought it was nice I asked.

Day 2: 05.08.19
I offered a friend some outer wear for her daughter, as I had to change my size. She was very happy to recieve some new outer wear (jacket/pants).

Day 3: 06.08.19
A collegue had left her mug by the coffee machine waiting for it to finish. I served her coffee in it when it was done. She was happy.

Day 4: 07.08.19
Helped a collegue with some frustrations, and sorting out thoughts, so she could focus on what`s important. Then, when she injured a finger I texted her during the day to check up on her, how she`s doing.

Day 5: 08.08.19
Bought iced coffee to two friends and a salad for one of them, as we were going to meet. When they offered to pay I told it was my treat.

Day 6: 09.08.19
Was happy to help a Geeky friend on BGG out with a question she had. Hoping I can help her out!

Day 7: 10.09.19
Sent a message to two friends I haven`t heard from in a while. Wanted to hear if they were OK, maybe chat with them a bit.

I love doing these challenges and see what everyone comes up with.

Thank you for hosting it, yet again.

Week 1
Day 1, Aug 4: Did the laundry for my wife and her son. Both needed white for work Monday.
Day 2, Aug 5: I cleaned our pathways for weed. My wife was thrilled.
Day 3, Aug 6: I was early for an appointment, so I picked up some fresh bread for my father on the way and surprised him (and my mother) with it later.
Day 4, Aug 7: Spent 30 minutes answering questions on mental health issues for a friend. Awareness is key.
Day 5, Aug 8: Lent some money to a friend who was in need until next paycheck.
Day 6, Aug 9: Took care of my father, so my wife and mother could have a day out.
Day 7, Aug 10: I walked the neighbours dog, as he was tired. They are both 80+.

Week 1 done!

Rose, I've thought of you between challenges as I do things that might qualify for one of your challenges.

Aug 2-4: the homeless guy has not been where he usually is. Grr.

Aug 4: Picked up cigarette butts and other trash on my way to the dumpster. Pointed someone to this contest.

Aug 5: A company car had it's lights on, so I called the phone number and reported it. (Next day the car had moved a bit, so the battery must be okay.) Saw a father with 2 girls at the library checkout. The girls had no books and looked bored. I asked if they'd read The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl yet, and then quickly grabbed the 1st one for them.

Aug 6: Caught the burning coffee pot. Sent a birthday card to someone that I suspect receives few. Offered a goldfish bowl. Pointed someone to another contest.

Aug 7: A word of encouragement. Pointed someone to another contest.

Aug 8: Told some coworkers about some leftover food, and offered to set aside a bowl full.

Aug 9: One of 3 people to bring a big bag of games to game night. Saw a new person and pointed them to some of the lighter weight games (fitting their past experience), as well as general introductions to lots of stuff there. Got them playing 2 games.

Aug 10: zombie
Day 7,Aug 11: 2 reminders and 2 bits of advice.

Don't forget, you can send someone a Geek Citizenship Star anonymously 1/ month!

What a co-incidence. Last weekend we have a new path laid and I realised today that the hedgehog could not longer get under the gate, so I scraped away the stones to the side of the new path so he can still get under.

Sunday 4th August - helped out the hedgehog.

Monday 5th August - donated some clothes to a charity shop.

Tuesday 6th August - a lady at the gym who was complaining about how her swimming costumes get ruined by the chlorine. Took the time to show her chlorine resistant costumes on a cheap on line site. She was really grateful.

Wednesday 7th - sent my daughter (no2) who has gone to uni in US some extra money to help her settle in. We live in the UK so she just had one suitcase.

Thursday 8th - picked up some litter dropped on the nearby green.

Friday 9th - gave my daughter (no3) a lift to work even though it made me a little late for work.

Saturday 10th - made my daughter (no1) who works long hours in London and commutes every day, her favourite tomato soup to take in with her.

I love how much kindness you inspire in others... and how kind you are yourself. You make the world a better place every single day!

August 1: Made my manager take the day off- he's not taking enough time to be with his daughter before she starts school (her very first time!) on Wednesday.

August 2: Stayed super late at work making up a special order so the regular fruit cutter would not have to worry about it- it was a huge order!

August 3: Called a friend who's feeling pretty lonely right now and let him talk himself out.

August 4: Brought home chocolate because I know my daughter is about to need chocolate (that time of the month)

August 5: Took Mom to the doctor, then the hairdresser, then to Burger King and then drove around so she could see what has been going on with the building and so forth around Apison.
Helped a lady on crutches at the hairdresser get to her car while Mom was getting her hair done.

August 6: Brought my daughter home a bottle of the expensive varietal apple juice as well as the regular apple juice when I saw it on the list and stayed two extra hours at Mom's so she would have company for longer.

August 7: Making Caramel Slice for my birthday (Saturday) today so I can take a couple in for my manager who loves them. He won't be there tomorrow and I won't be there Friday so I'll be leaving two in the cooler for him to take home (one for his wife too).

And that's the first week

I always appreciate these challenges because they spark me to think more about what I can do for others.

Week one:
August 4: Took care of my neighbor's garden since they're away on vacation.
August 5: More garden care and also helped someone find the information/links they needed for Kitten Academy convention's stuff.
August 6: Encouraged an online friend who is going through a rough spot after losing her mom recently. It was her birthday and she was not handling things well and was thinking of checking herself in for treatment and I encouraged her to do whatever is necessary to take the best care of her mental health possible.
August 7: More neighbor's garden care and took out the trash so my husband won't have to do it when he gets home from work tonight.
August 8: As I was leaving, I moved a bunch of shopping carts that were just near a cart corral into the corral so that they wouldn't roll off in the wind and end up scratching people's cars.
August 9: Bought some more cute cat toys to send to Kitten Academy to be sent home with the current mom cat and kittens when they go to their forever homes.
August 10: While I was weeding along the curbing in front of my house, kept on weeding the area in front of my neighbor's house so she wouldn't have to worry about it when she got home from vacation.

11. Board Game: Family Fluxx [Average Rating:5.71 Overall Rank:8088]
Great idea! I’m going to turn this into 7 days of kindness for my mum. My dad has been going through cancer treatment and leg surgery, I’m currently laid up at home from my own post-surgery recovery, we have an 8 month old puppy who’s decided to yap her head off all day at the neighbours, and my mum takes care of everything while working full time and having a foot problem of her own. Despite not being able to do much physically, I’d like to do some little things to keep her away from stressing out.

Day 1, 5 Aug: Set up a jigsaw puzzle. We both love them and find them relaxing. A work friend of hers dropped around a new jigsaw as a get-well present for me, so why not start it? (Success!)
Day 2, 6 Aug: Look up some ideas for dealing with dogs that bark too much. And/or take the lil devil for a walk. And continue with puzzles. (Some success! A four-for-one - took the dog for a short walk, and while I was out picked up three pieces of strewn paper and put them in our recycle. I will likely regret all of them physically but totally worth it emotionally)
Day 3, 7 Aug: Need to reserve my energy so it’s probably research the dog barking. And/or do something nice for dad too. (Success! No research, but doggie is quieter now with more play/walks. Took down dad’s washing, put away my own, *and* managed to bend for the sake of doing a new load/putting it in the dryer)
Day 4, 8 Aug: Seeing as how my plan to deal with tidying up got used on Day 3, and I will need to reserve energy for making the trip to the doctor for a check-up, I have decided to run a different errand. My mum has been craving a particular type of chocolate they no longer sell. I will go to the nearby supermarket and grab some ingredients to do a homemade version of it. Basically it’s just about making some bark, so it’s easy for me to do physically. And hopefully it won’t be gobbled up before the weekend - or before I can give it to her (Semi-success. Missed my bus by all of ten minutes and had to skip the doc. Decided to take the dog up to the shops instead and took the opportunity to give some clothes to charity that I’d set aside ages ago. Also got my ingredients but will have to wait to make the bark. Exhausted!)
Day 5, 9 Aug: New episodes of GLOW are out on Netflix, and my mum and I love it. Binge and puzzles! And chocolate bark if I get to make it. - This was the plan but I dunno now. A work colleague of both my parents, whom they’ve known for god, probably two decades or more, just died. Acts of kindness here are somewhat useless given this news. Under the circumstances letting my dad off the hook for directing me on shredding old files is probably a good idea. (Success! Put away some dishes, made the bark, suggested ordering in dinner involving lots of soup as my mum’s sick and it’s freezing cold. And took the dog for a walk)
Day 6, 10 Aug: As today is Saturday I left it blank, assuming I could get in whatever needs doing around the house. (Semi-success or cheat, you pick. Did not sleep well at all and only woke up at 1pm, in lots of pain and discomfort. My act of kindness for today is to take it easy on myself and try and recover more from surgery. The cold weather also puts me at risk for an asthma flare-up so I need to make sure I don’t end up with an infection. Instead, I will take this opportunity to scout out some present ideas for father’s day and try to do little things where I can - or at the very least we completed watching GLOW, so mission accomplished on getting my mum to sit still for a while. Let the dog use my foot as a pillow )
Day 7, 11 Aug: No real success today. Am needing more self-care time post-surgery. Will attempt to begin more work on going through my GBS follow-up, buying gifts... but honestly I’ve hit a bit of an emotional wall today so I’m letting myself off the hook a bit for good deeds. Sadly, I think also this is the end of my attempt - no new weeks of kindness as an intentional thing - just cause there’s a ton of stuff I’m behind on that I need to focus on. I’ll do what I can where I can but I’m not going to be pushing myself to get it done each day or pre-plan it like I’ve been doing with this week of kindness. I’d rather just do it and move on without having to track it like it’s counting calories or something

Helping the Neighbours

Yesterday, August 4th 2019, I helped the daughter of my neighbour. There were kids playing in the street making fun of her, calling her mean names, and saying she would never have any friends.

Turns out she has Autism and Dyspraxia. I spoke to the girl, my son is friends with her brother and they were with her, after that I spoke with the parents of the children involved and resolved the matter.

The girl is now friends with the kids in the street

August 2: My wife, myself, and our 2 daughters colored 200 paper sacks which we then donated along with a large amount of healthy snacks to our local after school snack program. I love this program because they ask no questions and any child may go get a full bag after school.

August 10: went to a local festival with my kiddos. They had games and rides that cost tickets so we bought a large amount and handed them out freely to other children we passed by.

August 14: while on my daily bike ride I came across a fellow cyclist walking their bike because of a flat tire. I carry an emergency kit and was able to fix their tire and get them back on the road.

August 17: Donated some suits to the local orphanage for the teenage boys.

August 1 - I have some money to help out a person who didn't have enough bus fare.

August 2 - I cleaned the basement bathroom and basement and did my brother's laundry as a favor.

August 3 - I exchanged friendly greetings with two men who seemed to be homeless during my walk to the pharmacy. They acted and looked like they were used to being ignored and feeling nonexistent. Both were surprised that I took time to say hello.

August 4 - I watched a movie with my brother. I'm not into jump scare horror movies but he kept insisting that I'd like it. I relented. It was good but not my usual cup of tea. I over-empathize when I watch TV and movies.

August 5 - I got up early off my seat so a little human could sit down and a tired mom doesn't have to have him on her lap on the bus ride home.

August 6 - The person ahead of me had been mean to the cashier. When I came up I tried to make up for the rudeness by engaging in small talk as the cashier rang me up.

August 7 - I fetched items for an elderly person as he got ready for yoga class.

August 8 - I shared my umbrella with another person and we walked to his car during a pop-up downpour. He wanted to repay me with a ride to my house but I lived in the opposite direction. It was kind of him.

August 9 - I helped out a shop clerk a bit at a local thrift store. I put some clothes back in the rack as she sat down and took a short break off her feet.

August 10 - I helped the teacher close up the studio after class. She was in a hurry to get somewhere.

I'm in, I always enjoy these challenges

Week 1
Day 1, Aug 4: Gave the change in my pocket to a homeless man asking for change.
Day 2, Aug 5: Jumped someone's car who was stuck at a store. (Even though my jumper cables were burried under a trunk full of stuff). Also made my husband lunch, and got small gifts for him to give to all his co-workers.
Day 3, Aug 6: Did my husband's chores for him. Also bought my kids some books at the library book sale.
Day 4, Aug 7: Did the dishes, made peach cobbler for the family, and gave a new user 30 geekgold for an Avatar.
Day 5, Aug 8: Took my kids to the science museum (it's a mad house in the summer so I usually wait until my husband can join us) and made my husband lunch (salmon with peach sauce).
Day 6, Aug 9: brought peaches to my daughter's ukelele teacher (and my daughter brought her a crystal and a shell that she found on vacation)
Day 7, Aug 10 cleaned the litter box (not my chore) and let my family choose all of the things we did today. Wrote a letter to a friend that I haven't heard from in a while.

Thanks for doing this again!

Week 1:
8/5 - gave away a steam code for a game that I backed but probably won't ever play (digitally) + decided to send someone an unofficial PIFF
8/6 - treated my two non-working friends to lunch and coffee/tea at my workplace
8/7 - shipped the unofficial PIFF! also tried to be pleasant overall (though I wasn't always successful), esp. when driving
8/8 - escorted a lost new co-worker to the correct parking garage to find his car
8/9 - bought advance movie tickets for a couple of co-workers
8/10 - helped a gaming buddy that is planning on movie clear out/sell some of his games at a local flea market
8/11 - I... was nice to a cat? I didn't do much on Sunday, but went out with a friend and treated her to a late lunch... but she treated me back to coffee and ice cream (and drove the long distance to the theater), so it evened out.

Was sick/busy/studying, and not interacting with people in general. Hope to continue this for the rest of the month though.

August 4: I helped a woman find her missing cell phone that fell out of her purse while shopping.

August 5: I gave a co-worker my amusement park souvenir cup, so his family could get free fountain drink refills on their upcoming trip, which will save them $20.

August 6: Took our college intern out for drinks and apps for his last week in the office.

August 7: Surprised my wife by showing up at the library after work to watch the kids and bring them home once their summer program was over, so that she could go home early and have a little time to herself.

August 8: Gave a couple of our high school interns some career/life advice as they wrap up for the summer and head back to school. They're now my youngest LinkedIn connections.

August 9: Gave away 50 geekgold to the people on this geeklist, plus some other deserving BGG contributors.

August 10: Gifted a new board game to my cousin's kids when I visited them this past weekend (plus a book and a puzzle).

Haven't joined in on these enough. Great idea Rose.

Now I've got some catching up to do.

August 3rd - shared food at the soccer game with some kids who were hanging about - almost loitering
August 5th - refused to complain when I had to cover the dishes from Sunday when my son, Zach, should have done them.
August 6th early - (getting intentional now - no more silly ones)
Aug 6 - In a meeting, deliberately opted to give an employee 5 days a week about a month sooner than we planned, after he's been on 4 days a week for about 18 months.
Aug 8 - Potentially protected the school from a wider chicken pox outbreak by keeping 2 or my boys home just in case the sore tummies were a pox infection.

Aug 11 - called a broken hearted mate around lunchtime even though I didn't really have time to chat just because he really needed it.

Aug 12 - contacted a old friend who has been frustrated at me for a while over something he thought I did, and asked to have lunch this week. He accepted gratefully. He had originally proposed this but had let it slide, so it wasn't that big of a step for me.

Always have loved this challenge!

August 6 - At lunchtime I let my kids each have one of my special hot link sausages. (May not sound like a big deal, but they're the only kind of hot dog I tolerate - they really appreciated it!)

August 7 - My mother came back from a month's trip to Idaho/Oregon. Invited her over for dinner so that she wouldn't have to put something together herself. (We had Frito Boats)

Per the request of anjulka here are pics of Frito Boats (apparently also known as Frito Pie).

It's a rather simple meal to make: bag of Frito's corn chips, can a chili, shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, chopped onion, hot sauce (may also put on olives, sour cream, etc.)

We've also served this at scout outings. Heat up the chili and have the toppings. Serve with a fork/spoon and use the personal bags of Fritos as the serving bowl.

August 8 - First day of school! Helped take the kids to school. Later, during my lunch hour, made lunch for the wife and youngest who's still at home.

August 9 - LOL! Did a favor for my wife and shaved the beard I've been growing for about the past 3 weeks or so (but left the goatee, which she likes). Gotta say, I look 5 years younger - the haircut helps too (probably due to the short hair hiding the gray)!

-->

(taken at ~week 2)

And speaking of new hairdos, gave my avatar a new one:

-->

August 10 - Did some service for others through our church. Also filled my wife's car up with gas (we have this weird little - I take care of my car; you take care of yours relationship.

August 11 - Had a fun family game day with my younger children. I typically play games with the older ones - who can play the more strategic games. Spent today playing more children's games - the kids loved it!

August 12 - Did my mother a favor by picking up her package from the mail box. Apparently it was some medication that cannot be in the heat for very long - or else it'll go bad.

Happy August Rose!

Week 1
Day 0, Aug 4: Julie's Mom is staying with us for two weeks and as she is allergic to our cat (as am I) she is staying in my mostly (Roxie does sneak in occasionally) cat-free bedroom.
Day x, Aug 5: Monday passed before I saw this on Tuesday, just a regular day of work and board games...

Day 1, Aug 6: On the way home from work today I stopped to to let a truck across the hi-way (the cars ahead of me were all stopped anyway for the red light two blocks ahead), the car beside me followed suit to let the truck across. If the cars ahead are stopped anyway I'm really not holding anyone up by letting a vehicle get off or on and if I were the one trying to cross when it's busy I'd appreciate the courtesy.
Day 2, Aug 7: Went back downstairs to fold the laundry after I got home late tonight so J wouldn't have to and could go to bed and then did the dishes.
Day 3, Aug 8: Helped J's Mom unload her car, the final load of stuff from the RV she's selling, when I got home from work. J and I had been out with her last Wednesday and Saturday sorting and packing also.
Day 4, Aug 9: Had to stop at home after work so took some extra time with J's Mom to sort and start loading her car with the things she's taking back with home. We'll store, sell or donate what she isn't taking.
I got to the not so local GS a little early to run the Carcassonne tournament tonight and there were two ladies there that were just reading through the rules for Arboretum, I commented on the game and as I'd played they asked me to join them for the game. They then played several more times.
Day 5, Aug 10: Was up early to help J and her Mom finish loading the car and see them off on the drive home.
Day 6, Aug 11: Did laundry for J so she'd have some clean clothes when she got home.
Day 7, Aug 12: Took a bag of the green beans I'd picked yesterday to work for my co-workers. Stayed out late at a friends (took her a bag of beans too) playing games to picked J up at the airport at 11:30.

Week 2:

August 8: Cut surprise lilies in the yard blooming where Mom couldn't see them and brought them in so she could enjoy them

August 9: Going to work on my day off so that my manager can tell me all the stuff for next week when he is on vacation (yay!) and doing shopping for my Mom... I would so much rather not go in!

August 10: Fixed a chest of drawers in my Mom's kitchen so the drawers will slide easily in and out- the frame had skewed out of true and was causing massive sticking problems with the drawers... and Mom's gotten pretty weak- she can't tug open a sticky drawer any more.

Folded my daughter's clothes for her and did the dishes from her supper last night (she's supposed to wash her own since she's an adult)

August 11: Called a friend who's feeling poorly and talked as long as he wanted to

August 12: Down stacked the truck for the floral department while I was doing mine and took it up to her so she wouldn't have to do heavy lifting or spend half an hour in the cooler (33°F is nice right now... but not for an hour)

August 13: Spent my lunch hour running to my daughter's doctor for a script and handing it in so she won't run out. She could go without for a couple of days... but it's not comfortable.

August 14: My coworker overslept so on my break I ran and bought breakfast biscuits for everyone.

And that wraps up week 2... onward!

Aug. 8th: Even though my cart has the cover on it, I drove the other maintenance cart today in the rain so the new guy wouldn't have to.
Aug. 9th: Even though I was in a hurry to eat and get to work, I let my youngest son crawl up on my chest which is his favorite place to take a little nap. Did make me late, but I've been having to spend so very much time at work lately I haven't had hardly any time for my boys. This was probably just as much for me as it was for him.
Aug. 10th: The other maintenance guy didn't show up for work today so I worked through lunch and stayed late to help cover for him. Also the girl in the office was all alone today so I did all her outside chores so she wouldn't have to close down the office. Even if there were two of them I probably still would have just because of how hot and muggy it has been today.
Aug. 11th: Went out at 1 A.M. to replace a tenant's shower knob because they "kinda need a shower right now!"
Aug. 12th: Let my boss leave early which meant I had to stay late.
Aug. 13th: We had an unfinished apartment but the manager had someone wanting to move into it in the morning, so I stayed late to get it ready for the new tenant.
Aug. 14th: One of my neighbors was having issue with her front door lock so I went over and helped her out.

Week 1:

Aug 4th: Played Shadows of Brimstone: Other Worlds – Caverns of Cynder with my husband because he wanted to play it - though we had recently played it the previous week! (I just grumble because it takes a lot of time to set-up, and I'm usually the one organizing all the things! It was a great game!)
Aug 5th: Self care! It was too hot to go to roller derby (we skate in a non-air conditioned space) so I treated myself right by having a peaceful evening.
Aug 6th: Offered to read the rules of a coworker's board game, even though it isn't a game I'd be interested in playing.
Aug 7th: Someone at the bus stop dropped a flash drive when running for the bus - and it fell under the bus! The bus driver also saw it fall. I grabbed it, got on the bus, and gave it back to the person who dropped it, who didn't hear the bus driver telling her she lost something. Kudos to the awesome bus driver who didn't take off during the exchange (it was not my bus!)
Aug 8th: Helped restock the snacks we get at work, so that one person didn't have to do it all. Those of us who helped ended up being thanked in an e-mail sent out to our entire team, which wasn't expected!
Aug 9th: Traveled with my husband to our county library (outside the city limits... the way that works here is weird) after work to pick up a movie to watch together.
Aug 10th: Made spicy BBQ tofu for my husband, even though I'm allergic to a great many of the ingredients.

Week 2:

Aug 11th: Brought lunch and played board games to thank friends who are teaching us about how to navigate buying a house in Seattle.
Aug 12th: Helped skaters newly promoted to the regular practice learn how to make walls in blocking drills.
Aug 13th: Shared homemade ice cream with my RPG group!
Aug 14th: Agreed to watch two episodes of a TV show, when I really just wanted to watch one, so we can finish it faster.
Aug 15th: Shared some of my tea at work with a coworker who should be home, but is at work in order to get things done because of crunch time (he isn't contagious - just needs far more rest). He did appreciate the tea.
Aug 16th: Gave kind words to a coworker when losers of the tournament at work got salty at him (since he's one of the game designers).
Aug 17th: Made up another batch of cherry chocolate chunk homemade ice cream to share with a friend while finishing up season 3 of Stranger Things.

Week 3:

Aug 18th: Helped my husband plan a mini-vacation for our 10 year wedding anniversary (coming up in a few months).
Aug 19th: Today was a rough day. A coworker wanted to talk to be about something that happened to her, and I agreed. It certainly helped her to talk about it - though now I'm angry and sad on her behalf. I also helped another coworker with her 401k, since she recently went from being full-time to a contractor, and the date when her full-time benefits would stop is fast approaching.
Aug 20th: A woman's phone fell out of her pocket as she was leaving the bus this morning - I alerted her to the fact, so she wouldn't leave it behind!
