Sublist (or sub-sublist) of the "Timeline of War" MEGA-LIST

Click here to return to parent geeklist

Geeklist of "1800-1849" games in chronological order.

Since games that cover "campaigns" and "whole wars" are spread roughly over time and space the "Timeline of War" lists are mainly intended for games that simulate individual battles. When it seems appropriate sublists have been created as buckets to hold campaign and "whole war" games and these added as branches to the main timeline lists.

Game entries should follow roughly the same format with "Battle Name:" and "Battle Date:" first followed by descriptive information.

Date(s): 1800-1849

An ANGRY century which I split in half to acomodate the Napoleonic Wars and the American Civil War.

Sublists of this list should be named "ToW: {date info} {sublist info} {more sublist info}" and should be publicly editable. The creator of any sublist will take responsibility to periodically review it for additions and re-order to keep things properly chronological and, when necessary, substitute lists for individual games.

This geeklist is a mere skeleton of what it can become with YOUR HELP. Please click on the link above to see what ToW is all about. And if you want to look at a much more fleshed-out "tree" of geeklists look at the ones I put together for 1914-1918 since that is a period I know a little about. (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/25945 )

PLEASE add games or new ToW geeklists to this list!
This is a community effort.

The new century begins...

Remember to strip off groups of games for the same battle (e.g.. Chancellorsville) into ToW sub-geeklists of their own.

Remember also to create separate "Campaign" and "Whole War" sub-geeklists to load in after the "Battles" one that follows.

One of my favorite games and perhaps one of the games that most gives a period feel to the battle in its elegant design and presentation as well as mechanics.

This time a game from Poland.

Poor workmanship and poor playability.

The next Simmons masterpiece, this time playing a big battle, Austerlitz. Like BaM, NT has beauty and elegance and mechanics that combine to make a true Napoleonics treat!

From the publisher's website (http://web.mac.com/bergbrog/Site/More_BSO_Games.html): "One of the key battles of the series of South American revolutions that wrested the continent from Spain, Maipo led to the establishment of an independent Chile."

This game is a strategic level game that reflects the Napoleonic Era. The Grand Campaign is fairly open and so does not necessarily have wars that actually happened - although the game seems to encourage them.

It also includes many scenarios that does reflect some of the actual wars in the time period.

There is also an expansion of the game that starts just after the Revolution, and the expansion of course would have to go in the previous century.
