I've just realized that the games I play the most are my tile placing games. A few years ago when someone mentioned games with tiles the thought "Carcassonne" hit the mind and disappeared but nowadays I know that there are more games out there.

Here's a list of my favorite tile placing games.

My favorite tile game. It's easy to learn and doesn't require much space or time so I play it quite often. A funny thing about it is that a new player can become a challenging opponent after just one game. How many other games are that easy learn?

A new game that I bought in NYC on my honeymoon (Yes, I bought a boardgame on my honeymoon). The box is about the same size as Fjords, the rules are little bit more challenging and the game system is really challenging, especially for such an easy game. This is the only tile placing game that I know of which limits the size of your modular board without using a frame. Depending on the number of players, the size of the board varies from 7 x 7 to 9 x 9 (not exactly sure on those number, I didn't bring the rules with me to work). Robber Knights is alot like Fjords with support 2-4 players.

This is actually the firs tile placing game I bought. I played zombies before I ever heard about Carcassonne and I enjoyed it. Sure, it's not the most challenging game out there and game system isn't unique in any way, but at least there's zombies

I stopped buying Zombies!!! expansion after Zombies!!! 4 since I find it impossible to play a game using the game with all the expansions at once. Even if I could find a table large enough it wouldn't be possible to reach the tiles in the middle.

I know, not a real tile placing game, but there are many games out there with modular game boards where you start by building the board by randomly placing tiles. Settlers is probably the best known game from this group but I never liked it. Domaine on the other hand is an excellent game that I never get tired of

My first tile placing game. I started playing Dungeonquest 20 years ago and I loved the idea of an empty board where rooms suddenly appeared. The fact that there were monsters walking around only made it better Dungeonquest is still a good game, much thanks to the battle system with rock paper scissors.

This game is still standing unwrapped on a shelf but I intend to play it within a near future since it has lots of tiles to place.

A sheep game, something which seems to attract boardgamers for some strange reason. It's a simple and some what different game where you start building your board with the playing pieces already on the tiles.

Probably the best known tile placing game out there and with the best known game piece, the Meeple. It's a neat game with a high replayability factor but there are too many rules, something that gets worse with all the expansions. When I play Carcassonne with new players, I never use farmers.

One with diamond shaped tiles, it's supposed to be pretty good (I own but haven't played yet). Maybe you should check it out?

Very nice area-majority-control game with tiles placing
Placing is not a key, but game is worth to play

This is KIKA, 972 Colour Matching Games (for 2-4 players of most ages, 10-20 min)

Very simple game play: Choose a tile, place it, score for colours that match, take tiles as points (you may play these in the future). Add variable rules and you get 972 games out of a few rule cards and 64 tiles. There are small tokens in the punch card which are not listed as components and will become part of some expansion in the future.

Here is an example of a rue card that you can add or not. The back is another rule card. The fronts and backs were matched so that there would be no conflict between the rules.
