This is a list of recommended bits bags for boardgamers.
This list is a child of the parent list of:

There are many ways of storing game bits. I'm from the school of "throw out the insert and bag the stuff."

4"x6" zip bags
My favorite parts bag, based on cost and near universal utility, is an inexpensive, 2 mil 4" x 6" zip bag. Cheapest way to buy them (and other inexpensive items) is not on Amazon (whose vendor abuse drives up prices on inexpensive items). Definitely buy these in bulk off eBay, with free shipping. Sure, you don't need a thousand, but they make great gamer gifts and are handy for many other household purposes.

Search for "4x6 bag 1000", sort by price, and start scanning at $10 offers ($.01 per bag).

The "mil" (1/1000 inch) is the thickness of the bag. 2 mil is the standard minimum, and will last for years with light use. 1 mil is so thin it gives me the creeps to even handle it. If storing minis, especially ones with hard and sharp edges, a 4 mil bag is recommended, but will cost at least four times as much per bag.

Snack Bags
4"x6" zip bags have a shorter zip edge, which is the expensive edge to manufacture. The thing is, it's a little easier to put things in and out of a bag with a larger opening, and some gamers like to leave bits in bags and pull from them only when needed.

Perhaps the best "wide mouth" zip bag is the "Snack Bags" or similar found at Dollars Days or similar stores. The one a friend uses is 6.5"x3.25" and is just $1 for a box of fifty bags.
