As I recently watched the 1966 movie version of Fahrenheit 451 again, I started thinking about how the community would react if society reacted the same way to Board Games.

Now Bradbury has stated that the novel is not about censorship; he states that Fahrenheit 451 is a story about how television destroys interest in reading literature, which ultimately leads to ignorance of total facts. But thats not what this geeklist is about.

In the book, the protagonist character joins a group of people who have memorized entire books, to be preserved orally until books are allowed again in mainstream society. They destroy all their own copies of a book after memorizing it so it cannot be discovered.

My question to the BGG community is this: If you had to remove yourself from a society which did not allow board games as a form of entertainment, and memorize a game in its entirety so it may be taught to others or re-created at a later time, what would it be?

I look forward to everyones additions and reading why. Oh, and hats off to anyone who adds ASL.

For living with this group of people, I would choose to become Reef Encounter. The rules are simple to remember, and because its color-oriented, I think could be easily re-created and taught to others. Memorizing the reef layouts could be a challenge, but not impossible.

Don't like Euros? Don't like auction mechanics? Well, I guess you won't want to party with me after the Game Apocalypse because I will have Ra memorized and ready to go!

In fact, I think I already do ...

A ton of abstracts... I picked Punct because it's currently my favorite, but here's a list of others I already know by heart.

Chess
Checkers
Hive
Zertz
Khet
Trax
Pente

Here are others I would only need a brief review to have memorized.

Yinsh
Dvonn
Stratego
Go

Really, for many games the only thing I don't know is how many pieces there are in the supply or the board size.
