Mark and I played three games of Harry's during the flight. We played a three game series, I seem to recall I got 2 of the 3.
There's no way I could participate in any gaming that's under the "Geezerspiel" umbrella without playing this old favorite. Mark and I even found some new things to talk about in this old favorite. I think these three plays represented my 472nd, 473rd and 474th plays of the game.
This game fit the "unspoken" theme of baseball very well, of course. I ventured into enemy territory with full Dodger regalia, I'd like you to know! I'm fearless!
Mark and I played this a few times while we dealt with the long wait for a rental car. As we're dynamic fun people, even other people in line started paying attention. Mark even gave one of his plays to a civilian (ironically enough, a serviceman) in line.
I thought this was a lot of fun, and figured I'd get it for my family. Thing is, my kids already knew the game, and had been playing the "parlor game" version of it for years! I think they played it out. So, we'll see.
I've got a problem with sleep, and new places, trips, gets my brain spinning, so, I slept in late. Thanks y'all for accommodating my nuttiness.
I believe this was my first play of Friday. This is a pretty great little co-op party game, that I think will get played for a long time. I don't know that it will get consistent play, but, it'll always be one to bring out for family events.
This was a pretty cool concept, which had me wondering the entire time how I could recreate it, in some way, with my Timeline cards. It would have to be "Music and Cinema", I think.
Regardless, real glad Greg brought this. It may be one of those games I never play again, but, this is exactly the kind of game I want to play at a Geezerspiel(tm). Quirky, fun, and one play is sufficient to my life (as opposed to games I suck at on a first play, and therefore need to play a few times to make it "worth it").
An "outside" game! I think I mentioned that a thing I find happening often with Catan is that I get grumpy that I'm not doing well, then by the end of the game I realize, "well, I lost, but actually, did okay".
A cool "social experiment", that's for sure! Another "not sure how often I'd play it" kinda of game, but, sure was fun while playing it. Real glad I got a chance to. I can see playing this once a year.
Was the most fun we had in this game making fun of the 'stupid ETs'? Maybe. The game certainly has an interesting idea behind it. I had fun playing it.
I'm wondering if it could be 'fixed' by allowing the aliens to do back to the humans the same thing the humans can do: show a few pictures and give a symbol. As the alien, I felt constrained by the inability to do this.
PLUS : Another lost opportunity to blast Egyptian music at you!
Having slept well, I was shocked to find I'd slept in until after 11a. Well, I got over my sleeping issue! Woke to play this, and had a hoot. What an interesting game! As Greg said, the wagering is a bit odd, but, it all works itself out. And, I had no problem with not catching on until the middle of the game.
Another great game for a Geezerspiel.
And... with a Baseball theme! Because, guess where all of the 2017 Astros are going???
My "pick" of a game I wanted to make sure we played. I'd be lying if I didn't say my desire to hit the "h-index 32" range didn't impact my decision, but, it's just a fun game. And, a perfect game for our group, I felt.
I find myself saying over and over "another fun game to play every 5 years" kinda comments, but, it's true. These are the kinda games that make these things so fun! I can't see another opportunity to play such a game.
I think this was my favorite theme music! I grew up listening to that soundtrack over and over. Fun to hear it again with you guys.
