My personal ongoing "great and terrible games giveaway"
Subscribe to the list as I may add more games over time. Please thumb the list and share it whenever applicable. Please help me send games to someone who will play them!
I will remove games from the list when they are no longer available. This may make for a "ghost town" effect but I assure you that this list is fully operational even if there are few items or no recent activity. Lay your claim(s)!
The first item in the list shows what games have already gone through this list to other people.
All listings attempt to show the actual edition of the game, or provide commentary. Some listings have images of the actual copy of the game I have.
All games are released as-is, I make no promises as to condition or completeness. I'm 99.9% certain they are all playable, except if a game takes batteries it will need them to be added.
How "winners" are selected
The name of the list is a hat-tip to John Owens's Great and Terrible Games Give Away of 2020 but mine has some differences. There is no time-period or drawing. It is not necessarily first-come-first-served, either. If multiple people express interest I may choose randomly or pick based on to-be-determined criteria. I plan on responding within a day or two when any request is made. If I haven't responded within a couple of days feel free to send me a geekmail. I may have missed your comment somehow.
Guidelines: how to get a game
Required: include your zip code in your comment! This will signal that you are committing to pay for the shipping for the game. I will send you a geekmail with details, so please make sure to look for that and respond promptly. If you think you might want a game go ahead and add your zip along with your question(s).
Required: tell me a bit about why you want a game, who you will play it with and when. This will give me warm fuzzies and that's partially what this is about. It will also help discern you if multiple people respond.
If you feel the need to ask for a shipping quote, please don't respond at all. I'm doing this for free, please don't add to my labor. See below for potential shipping cost.
Feel free to put a request in on an item even if someone else already requested it. You never know, and I'll make sure to update everyone involved when a decision is made.
Feel free to request multiple games if you really think you'll play them all soon. I'd rather not just send you shelf-cloggers: make sure to be specific about why/who/when for each game. A primary goal is to get these games where they will actually get played. Remember, if you put in for a game you are committing to paying shipping. This includes if you don't "win" one of your requested games, so choose wisely and don't just add filler. Conditional requests are fine (e.g. "if I can get game X I'd also like game Y").
Shipping cost & speed
I will attempt to ship as inexpensively as possible using pirateship.com's reduced rates to ship via USPS from 37659, combining items and using padded envelopes, regional rate boxes, or flat rate boxes, whichever is most cost-efficient.
Note: I will add a small (less than $1) markup to offset the cost of shipping materials and potential processing fees. Trust me: I am not making any money on this and I don't think I should lose actual money, either.
Shipping a single game is generally going to run $5 – $20 depending on box size and distance traveled (I am in the Eastern U.S., so shipping to the Western U.S. is a long trip). I am happy to attempt to fit games inside of other games, even tossing inserts or boxes if you want to reduce shipping cost. Earlier in the giveaway I fit five small box games into one big box game with a lot of air and shipped it all for $18.
I have a bunch of boxes on hand and will ship within a few days. If there will be any delays I'll keep you informed.
I can accept shipping cost pre-payment through PayPal or Venmo (I will provide the account to send the money to). This is not a sale so it will not go through the BGG market.
I will need your shipping address (of course). Just leave your zipcode in your comment and if you "win" I'll get your mailing address through private geekmail.
If you request a game and don't respond to a message from me within 24 hours I reserve the right to move on to the next person. While this is unlikely to happen, I'm including this "just in case" so I don't have to wait around wondering what's going on if there are multiple people interested in any particular game(s).
Thanks for reading! Come get some games!
I probably forgot some detail about this in general or about any of the items in particular. Ask away and I will clarify.
