I just took up this hobby and joined this site this year and by far the coolest part of this site is the trading aspect. When I packaged up my first game for trade and sent it off, everyone in the post office knew about this site and how cool I thought this concept was, I couldn't contain myself.

The purpose of this list is to see what people deemed their best of 2007. I want to know what trade made you the happiest this year.

When I first discovered this site I wanted to buy every game on here. So I went to e-bay and found a few deals. Mystery of the Abbey was one of those, I played it twice and decided it wasn't for me. Too much paper work! It's hard enough to hid your cards from your opponents, but now you have to hid your paper work as well, I'm no Dick Cheney, so this didn't work for me. I think it is an otherwise good game BTW and I like the silly rules i.e. spilling wine loses you a turn, but I digress.

Power Grid rocks! I don't have to do any paperwork meeple and it is pretty clear this game has been well thought out. The market has a nice little way to adjust itself and the turn order determination forces tough choices. I only made 6 trades this year, this is far and away my favorite.

Receiving Railroad Tycoon via Mathtrade from Loggy (this was effectively a direct trade w/in the math trade) for:

Trading a game that I received 20+ years ago as a gift and never played for this fantastic game that I have played 3 times already this year.

Honorable Mention:

receiving from Noah Kolman via math trade:

and including Earth Elemental, Hill Giant, and 2 plano tackle storage trays.

and trading to Joe Wyka:

plus expansion trade cards.

Civ I played a *lot* back in the day, but again, haven't played in in 20+ years. Battlelore has hit the table twice already, and only holiday obligations prevent more plays. Look for that to change in 2008.

Common denominator: trading OOP "grail games" for big ticket modern games that I can play and enjoy w/ my game group.

Honorable Honorable Mention to those BGG traders who put up with me more than once this year:

The Evil One
Rossum
Star Spangled Girl
TGov

Honorable Honorable Honorable Mention:
to EVERYONE who makes BGG trading the BEST 'non-gaming Gaming' experience around

and special thanks to the moderators and programmers who make the trades and math trades rock!

I had posted a very depressed geeklist about some of my "untradeable" games. I was saddled with a complete and good condition copy of Dragon Strike, but no one seemed interested. It's certainly not my style of game, and I thought no one was going to take it.

Then I received an extremely gracious offer. Kelly Bass offered to take the game for the kids, and in return I got Can't Stop. I'd been thinking about getting Can't Stop for awhile, so I jumped on the offer.

This is our new favorite game. In the month that I've had it, we have played the game more times than some of my favorite games. This is the definition of a great trade...Something I would never play for something that we regularly play.
Thanks chockle!

Railroad Tycoon was also my best trade aquisition of 2007.

I traded away my Vinci, which had become sort of the "odd man out" since I had recently acqired both Struggle of Empires and Viktory II in BGG trades. Vinci is certainly a good game, but my group (including myself) clearly favors SoE. (Probably the group would say that SoE was my best trade of '07, but I had to ship off TI3 for it - BIG BOX - BIG SHIPPING COSTS)

I was so astonished at how fun this game is. Our previous train themed games were limited to Rail Baron and Ticket to Ride. Needless to say, both these, while still fun, pale in comparison to RRT.

Also, thanks to all traders with whom I dealt with this year, both in completed deals, and deals not reached.

Hopefully this list can get me my next trade acquisition. Anybody looking to trade away a copy of Dungeon Twister?

Suddenly a shot rang out! A door slammed. The maid screamed. Suddenly a pirate ship appeared on the horizon! While millions of people were starving, the king lived in luxury. Meanwhile, on a small farm in Kansas, a boy was growing up.

Back in May, I completed only my second trade on this site when I accepted a trade offer from peacmyer. I sent him my copy of Proteus, and I received the new small-box edition of Citadels in return. Citadels is one of my most-played games now, whereas Proteus I only had around in my miscellaneous abstract game parts bucket with my Icehouse pieces and had never really played. Great trade.

Fresh Fish for Pax Romana (unpunched). Didn't really did Fresh Fish much. I got it because I do like Power Grid... glad to see it go to a loving home and Pax is the best game I played this year... I think.

I recieved Le Passe Trappe mini for $40 shipped during one of Funagain.com sales. I traded that for a mint copy of Piratenbillard. I think I did quite well in that trade.

What? Austro-Prussian War you say? Why that? Oh but wait and let me tell you. After careful (and somewhat prolonged negotiation) with Comrade_Sarayev I traded SPI's Agincourt and COA's Home Before the Leaves Fall for

Austro-Prussian War (Magazine Game)
Panzer Grenadier Airborne Introductory Edition (so I could try out PG before buying a big pile of it)
Storm Over Arnhem
GBoH Caesar: Conquest of Gaul w/Caratacus
GBoH Caesar: The Civil Wars w/Dictator, Veni Vidi Vici and Jugurtha

I was never ever going to play HBtLF or Agincourt and I will be playing all of these, so great trade! Negotiation on the trades is half the fun for me and Comrade's willingness to work out a deal through multiple email exchanges made it all worth while.

In the last Math Trade I participated in, I was able to acquire one of my Grail Games, PLUS a copy of:
Dream Factory

...in exchange for my spare copy of:
The Princes of Florence

HONORABLE MENTION
From the same Math Trade, landing a piece of another Grail Game:
Talisman City

Trading away:
Colosseum

As far as a straight-up (direct) trade, outside of a Math Trade, it was clearly getting some New Hotness:
Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries

...in trade for 3 booster packs, plus a couple single figures, of:
Axis & Allies Naval Miniatures: War at Sea
