This was our third game night. We are beginning to develop an identity. The coffee house we play at had tables reserved for us when we arrived tonight. That's certainly a sign of legitimacy . No one in our group knew more than one or two of the others before we started meeting so these are games that wouldn't otherwise be played.

Tonight six players gathered, all of whom were at one of the first two nights (repeat attendance--it's a good thing). Marie, Brian, Nick, Laura, John, and Rick were the intrepid crew who played four games tonight.

Our next two board game nights have been scheduled. More game play on Wednesday January 23rd and Thursday January 31st. We'll meet once again at Peaberry's in La Crosse. As usual we'll meet at about 6:30 PM.

You can find our guild here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/433

Our meetup page is here: http://boardgames.meetup.com/495/

Gamers with any level of experience are welcome. Now to the games and scores!

We got things rolling with a quick but fun game. A BGG standby but new to all but one member of our group. Thanks to John for teaching but congratulations to Nick who pulled out a close win.

We weren't joined by any others so we broke into two tables of three for the next games. John had received this game in the mail earlier in the day. The shrink was newly jettisoned and the counters freshly punched. None of the gamers had played this game but they seemed to get the swing of it right away. Nick continued his good night with a convincing victory.

Marie was very interested in this colorful abstract game Brian had brought to the game night. I once again demonstrated the difficulties I often have with abstracts. Marie showed no such problems and played very well for her first time. Brian combined his skill with experience, however, and ended up the solid winner.

Marie had to leave so we were down to five. Several possibilities were discussed for the final game of the night but a consensus in favor of Ticket to Ride soon emerged. Five players makes a crowded board and a challenging game. Laura seemed to have the edge with an exceptionally long route. When the final routes were scored, however, Nick had the upper hand. He completed a sweep of his games played--played three, won three--with a decisive final margin of victory.
