Geeklist of "Jutland" games

Battle Name: Jutland
Battle Date: May 31 - June 1, 1916

The most famous (and most gamed) naval battle of the war... somewhat anticlimactic in my opinion and typical of the Naval element of WWI - more of a "Mutual Assured Destruction" scenario than one of actual battle. Maybe also the reason why most of the WWI naval games include all sorts of scenarios for fighting that DID NOT happen.

The Original Avalon Hill depiction - a very nice mix of "mini" with cardboard... technically NOT a boardgame since there was no board!

24 years after the AH game this next depiction appeared. The bland map reminds one of why the original had no map at all.

The second game of the GWAS series... gave us all a look at the fantastic counter graphics that GWAS has become famous for. A very nice map for the campaign game(s) but the actual tactical map is pretty much tabla rasa. "Bucket 'o Dice" battle system leaves some folks cold.

Avalanche press redid their North & Baltic game in 2006 for this one.

If only they would support Cyberboard & Vassal I would be their biggest fan.

A FREE print-and-play game which is part of the interesting "Kings College" suite built as part of their coursework - Cyberboard available and clearly the "development platform" for many of their games.

From Panzerschrek magazine. Includes a decent Jutland scenario and earns a place here especially for naming the two protagonists.
