BGG Awards or How can we convince the administrators to take on more work?

VAHere we are folks, the dream we all dream of.
We here at the Geek are fortunate enough to have carved out our own community. Albeit, we are a community of gripers and complainers (myself esspecially included), but we are also a community that truly loves games and cherish the soul that is poured into each box. Because of that we can respect each other. Blah, blah, blah.
What I'm basically trying to get to is that rather than bitch and moan about how PR didn't win SdJ and how Ticket to Ride did or didn't win this year's SdJ we should create an award set of our own.
The beauty of this is that there won't be any miscatogorization as everything here is already catagorized, and then if we bitch about the final results we can only blame ourselves.
I personally feel that this is a good idea, not just to satisfy our own vanity, but rather as a promotional tool for the website. I know that US game companies recognize this site as an invaluable tool, and many games have sold well or had their backs broken due to the responses on this site. Perhaps, if we implement a yearly award then companies would be encouraged to include the honorable acclaim on their box and thereby return the promotion of this site.
I was thinking to avoid any kind of confusion or new game hype that the awards should only include games released between Jan 01 to Dec 31. This way it gives us all a chance to actually play these games.
What do you think? Do you think it is worth it to try to convince the administrators that this might be a good idea?
