Well, I succumbed to the pressure. Listened to the users. Racked my brains around some of the stupid, moronic, idiodic, crazy mistakes I made. And, I came up with version 1.2 of the PitchCar TrackBuilder. If you missed it, you can download the files here:

This geeklist is to highlight some of the changes found in version 1.2.

Finally, I found the problem with the snap algorithm. It actually wasn't a problem with the snap - it was a problem with the rotation. The rotation wasn't updating properly after a piece was rotated. So, the program didn't think the pieces were in the proper alignment. Lots and lots of sleepless nights over this one. Well, not really.
But it is fixed! Yea!

Yeah, I think I was trying to create a metric mile. Don't even try to figure out how screwed up my math was 'cause you'll just scratch your head and say "And, this guy's an engineer???!!!"
Fixed, and now I will go find a hole to crawl into.

It may not have been a Dark July, but it was a Dark May when this little glitch was pointed out to me. If there were pieces on in the "Working Area" and a track was loaded, the pieces in the "Working Area" stayed where they were - at least visually. Virtually, at least to the program, they were in the "home" position. Needless to say, it was kind of screwy.
Fixed.

Over on the previous GeekList, there was an outcry to add the Carabande pieces. Well, those guys can still cry! However, another big want was a scale for Mini pieces. Well, those guys can smile. This has been added in version 1.2. The scale doesn't change the piece size on the "Working Space" but merely changes the scale of the grid and "Table Helper." If my measurements on the standard pieces are correct, then the ratio of the mini straight piece is slightly different than the standard piece, 1.87 for the standard versus 1.59 for the mini. This may cause some slight problems if your layout is close to your table size.
Still looking at the Carabande pieces.

PitchCar TrackBuilder - Now with "True Portablity" (Hey, another non-TradeMarkable TradeMark).
For some strange reason, I thought version 1 and 1.1 were truly portable. Turns out, I was wrong. Forgot to check the drive letter. Silly me.
Fixed with a new check box that asks if you want the program to run portably or not.

The option window was totally redesigned. Why? Two reasons. First, the original one looked bland while this one is hip or cool or suave or whatever. Second, I wanted to see if I could actually pull that type of window off with the software I was using. Turned out fairly well if I do say so myself.

Once the snap issue was fixed for good, I thought it would be neat to have a visual representation of the sensitivity. So, this has been added on the options screen. Sliding the "Sensitivity Slider" (whoa, yet another non-TradeMarkable TradeMark) will cause the target snap area to shift accordingly. Just a little gimmick, but hey, it's my program and I like it.
Oh, and I know I already showed this picture, but hey, it is my Geeklist.

I figured that PitchCar should at least show up once in this geeklist. For no other reason than if it gets enough thumbs it will show up on the PitchCar page at the top of the Geeklist section. Currently it needs over 230 thumbs to make it to the first page!
Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge. Know what I mean?
Enjoy PCTB version 1.2 even more!
