I have three kids, meaning that someone will be left out if we play a four player game.

Here is a list of some four player games that we've played with five players.

Please feel free to add any others that you think will work.

We play this with five players all the time and I like it best with five.

In this game, everyone has a couple hidden identities and you're trying to kill everyone else off. We deal out all but two of the identities and those two stay hidden.

The reason I like it with five is that when you get down to only two players, you still have the unknown identities to bluff your opponent.

We play this with five all the time. We deal out the cards evenly and use an purple pawn from a discarded game.

The purple guy starts on blue and ends on red. (Get it? Blue and Red make purple and red means stop.)

It isn't the perfect game for five because of sharing the end space, red can't easily block purple without blocking himself. But it works pretty well for my family.

I tried this with five as detailed in this session report: Trying it with Five players- the Cowbird variant!. I had one player (me) be four different colored pawns, one pawn in each person's starting space.

This didn't work so well, every time I got out, I had four people gunning for me. We haven't played this since.

It's oft been said that you can use extra pieces from Advance to Boardwalk to play with extra players.

We've tried this with five and that worked fine. I wouldn't try it with more, however.

Unfortunately, my kids don't like this game so much--too dry for them.

We gave this a go with five and it was fine. It created a bit more confusion which helped keep the game interesting since my kids have pretty much mastered this game.

This game is a favorite of my hubby's who remembers playing it with his family as a kid.

I found two sets thrifting and so I doctored some cards to add ten more cards. Now we play with five.

Of course, my kids again find this game boring. I don't mind it so much.

Just add some blocks in another color and this plays fine with 5.

Heroscape accommodates four very nicely, but I've been trying to find a good way to play with five. I started this thread a while back and the consensus seemed to be to split into two games.

Last weekend we finally tried a five player game. We figured a castle scenario was the way to go since we could have a team of two defending the castle and a team of three attacking it (the castle provides a pretty big bonus with height advantage and obstructing line of sight).

In the first game, we did 1200 points per team (400 per attacker, 600 per defender) thinking that all of the extra order markers for the attackers would make up for the defenders' advantage with the castle. The defenders won in a landslide.

In the second game we tried just doing 400 points for each player, and this seemed a lot more balanced. It was a rout by the attackers, but only because Thanos was rejected by death zombie

Overall though, we definitely prefer moving around a battlefield to castle siege scenarios, so we'll still be trying to find a good scenario, map, and/or point distribution for five. Any suggestions are more than welcome!

I have played Clans with five and would do so again without any hesitation. Yes, it does mean that every move either helps or hurts SOMEone. However, that hasn't affected the gameplay much for us.

The difference between a four-player game and a five-player game is not nearly as extreme as between a two-player and a four-player. I'll play it with any number myself.

I'm officially adding this to the list per Tommynomad's suggestion below:

We unwittingly played San Juan with 5 last week. Aside from running out of cards a couple of times near the end game, it played very well. Final scores were extremely close, ranging from 31 to 37.
