Well, it has been three months since I started working full-time as a games publisher and I've finally got something to show for it.

The re-print of It's Alive! goes to the manufacturers in a couple of days, and I hope to have Carpe Astra ready in time for Essen.

This Geeklist is just a brief heads up of what's coming out, when, and what might be in the pipeline for next year...

Pre-orders can be made via email to jack@reivergames.co.uk, and I will accept PayPal payment once the game is ready.

Play mad scientists competing to be the first to create life through the power of alchemy. Each turn, you may buy the offered body part, sell it to an anatomist for a meagre profit, or auction it, trying to get a better deal or rip off your opponents. You might be lucky and get a coffin with a weakling?s cadaver in it; or your involvement in the macabre trade might invoke the villagers? wrath.

After a sell-out hand-made Limited Edition, I've decided to re-print It's Alive! This was mainly due to Carpe Astra taking a long time to manufacture, and having sold out of stock, I no longer had any income! I think It's Alive! first is a more sensible order in hindsight anyway, as it is a known quantity with plenty of reviews and ratings available, so it should be an easier sell to shops and distributors, unlike Carpe Astra which is a complete unknown.

Currently I've distributors in the UK, Europe and New Zealand, with a US distributor or two hopefully not that far off.

Retail price: 15 GBP, 20 EUR, 30 USD. Pre-order for only 10.50 GBP (30% off RRP) + S&H, or free shipping if you collect from my booth at Essen. Shipping for pre-orders is likely to be around 2 GBP to the UK, 3 GBP to Europe and 4.50 GBP elsewhere.

10,000 years in the future, humanity has claimed the stars. But all is not well. The Emperor is weak, and without strong guidance the Empire is crumbling. Powerful guilds within the empire are squabbling, positioning themselves for their own gain. If the Empire is to survive, it needs a strong leader - that means you! You must build a power base throughout the Empire by connecting with important guilds: the military, traders, priests, engineers, expansionists and politicians and then claim the throne. Time is running out though, others also struggle for the throne. You must form a network of support with powerful guilds and slander your opponents. Each connection gains the support of some guilds, at the end of the game the player with the most support grasps the Galactic Throne. Take advantage of events that occur for further gain. Be careful though, as each slander you receive reduces your support.

Carpe Astra was to have been released in July, but I've been tinkering with the scoring, and I'm looking at getting it manufactured in Germany, which is cheap, but slow! It should now be ready in time for Essen, all being well.

Retail price to be confirmed, but likely to be 20-25GBP (so 25-32 EUR, 40-50USD).

Again, pre-orders get 30% off RRP with S&H likely to be more than It's Alive! Pre-order list is likely to close around the end of September.

There are several things I'm considering for next year, off the back of a lot of submissions I've received recently. I'm considering a couple of abstracts, which will be a departure for Reiver Games as I've not tried to publish one before, several card games and a really cool 'dude placement/movement' (thanks to W. Eric Martin of Boardgame News for that term ) game with an actual board!

I'd appreciate hearing what sort of game you'd like to see next from Reiver Games. I'm hoping to put three out next year.
