Unwanted Rejects - Thrift/Bargain Finds Left Behind: July 2008

This is the traditional monthly Thrift & Bargain Dumpster™.
A fitting place for discussing rejects and leftovers spotted while thrifting and bargain hunting. If you please: cast those items in the T&B-Dumpster!
Add items you left wherever you were sniffing around. Don't fill the dumpster with truckloads of Monopolies, Trivial Somethings and other regular leftovers. But rather add peculiar items, items that looked as if the cat dragged them in or items that caught your eye in some other special way. Regular stuff accompanied with a good story is obviously also worth listing. As a guideline, take this into consideration: "Do the thrifters want to know about this?"
This list is also well suited to discuss those should-I-go-back-for-it items. Feedback you will get, from either end of the scale, from 'how could you, you amateur!' to 'best decision you ever made, you are the King!'
In the description, try to mention the state the game was in, the asking price, the location and other details worth knowing about. Oh... and please close the lid behind you. Thanks.

Passed on this one because of the game itself, although the six large dice and rolling tray were very appealing. Score sheets missing and some unknown gooey substance on the bottom of the box
$1.97!
Would you?

Saw this one on the shelf but didn't grab it. Now I may just go back because no-one seems to own it. Also very curious about the rules.

Saw this at my FLGS... for $10... on the sale shelf.
But the reviews here have been generally bad, and specifically some of the guys who liked it like games I don't.

$7.38 at the local Goodwill. Passed it up last week. Passed it up this week, too. I see on the thrift list that somebody picked this up for $2.99 a their local thrift this week - for that price, I might have, too.

3M Acquire. Box was pretty beat, and it was missing several tiles. I already have a few copies of this at home - including a parts copy - so I passed on this one for $3.99.
Normally I'd have picked this up for even MORE parts, but space is at a premium in my gameroom.

Passed on another copy of this. The price was better on this one - $3.99, I have a couple of copies and the space issue reared it's ugly head again...so I leave it behind.

Opened it up. Looks almost complete. Think about bad BGG rating. Walked away.
I think it would go for $5.

This one is sitting in shrinkwrap at GW for about $5. The reviews look halfway decent. I never bring out Scene-It, so why would this be any different.

This one is sitting at GW for about $8. The box looks pretty thrashed. The reviews are not kind.

Literally 15 copies so far (if the ones at repeat stores had not been sold and replaced), including yard sales.

$2.99 was too much for the pawns, despite the unplayed condition.

Thought I'd read about it here before parting with £2.50. Glad I did as I don't need a game to cannibalise for wooden counters at the mo'.

I came across a couple of Avalon Hill titles while thrifting. Seeing as how they wouldn't get any play at our house (and I haven't gotten into trading or selling), I left them at Savers.

I was tempted to pick up this Ravensburger kids' game. It looks cute and it glows in the dark, but it looks too simple to appeal to my kids anymore. It's a little sad that they're already growing out of games....

Found this for $10.00 at some discount store. Wasn't sure if it was worth it or not?

It was a thrill to see this on the shelf-but it was woefully missing pieces. Half the board and 1/4 of the cars.
Doubly glad I already own it or I probably would have picked it up. Probably should have for $1 anyway.

I was kind of surprised to see this on the shelf. Closer inspection revealed a torn side on the bottom half of the box, and 11 missing pieces.

I sensed that there wasn't much game in the huge, colorful box so I left it behind. My instincts were spot-on this time.

I'm trying to restrain from buying everything interesting. This was a causality of that decision. Usually I pick up any war game.
Hammers Slammers (see above) Gobblet (classic edition) - Ugly colors and the wooden box was in good shape but not great. Laser Attack - I all ready have a copy of this and usually I would have grabbed it, but I'm trying to cut down on space. Batteball - All ready own
And I'm not sure if this really counts..but I was about to pay for a copy of Apples to Apples Jr (great shape) when the lady behind me ask if it's the expansion. As we're talking she says she loves apples to apples but it's too hard for her son. After finding out he's 10 and mine are only 5 and 3 (still 2 years from the recommended age), I decide to save the headache of explaining to my wife that I've bought another game and let her buy it instead (for $1.09).

The old version? You know, the one in the massive box. Saw it at the local junk shop.
I passed up on this as I can't see it getting played with the wife hooked on Yinsh at the mo'.

£4.00 at the local junk shop. I thought it best to read up a bit before I handed over my wad. Doesn't appear to be that many rave comments, so it can fox away on the damp shelf for a few more years.
