Should you play with the rule cards (or rules read from a fixed list), or have the Master make the rules up?

Funagain games sells Zendo cards for $4 here:
http://www.funagain.com/control/product/~product_id=016054
Various rules lists can be found online.

Do you always use Pyramids, or do you use other pieces to build Koans (a home-made Zendo set)?

Is it important to stick to the 'Buddha'/'Koan' language, or is it ok to just say, "I think the rule is that it has to have..."

The Zendo rules suggest that the 'Empty Koan' or 'Null Koan' should not be allowed. What do you think?

(Why would anyone think of building an empty koan? One use is to tell if the Master's rule is a 'negative' or 'positive' one. Kory Heath gives an example of a 'negative' rule here: http://www.koryheath.com/games/zendo)

How picky should the students and the master be about the rules?

Here is an example. Suppose the rule is
A Koan has the Buddha-Nature if all medium-sized pieces are touching.

(1) Somewhat Specific:
A 'Correct' Guess is, "A Koan has the Buddha-Nature if 2 medium-sized pieces touch."

(2) Very Specific:
(1) is incorrect.
A 'Correct' Guess is, "A Koan has the Buddha-Nature if each medium-sized piece is touching another medium-sized piece."

(3) Extremely Specific:
(1) and (2) are incorrect.
A 'Correct' Guess is, "A Koan has the Buddha-Nature if all medium-sized pieces are touching all other medium-sized pieces."

[ In (3) we are assuming that the master is extremely picky & had interpretation (3) in mind rather than (2) when creating the rule -- in situation (2), two separate pairs of touching medium-sized pieces would actually be a Koan with the Buddha-Nature. ]

[ I realize the difference between these 3 options is very qualitative & is not defined well here. Just use your best judgment... vote twice if appropriate. ]

How difficult do you like The Rule to be // How long do you prefer your games of Zendo to be ??

Extreme examples:
-A rule so simple that each game lasts at most 15 minutes
-A rule so complex that the game lasts at least 30 minutes

For however many colors you play with, is one 'stash' of each color enough, or do you run out of pieces with just one stash per color?

(A 'stash' is a set of 15 pyramids of the same color of certain sizes. A stash of black pieces is shown below)
