This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted games bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.

Dexterity Games Guy for BGG.Con / GeekCoin # 318030
Found my second copy this year at SA. Something made me make a second pass through the meagerly-stocked room when I just happened to look down at the bottom of a shelf that had an unopened kids' art set leaning up against the back wall. I pulled it forward to look at it and this was just behind it. I'm really starting to think someone had hidden it to come back to it later. It was taped, so I couldn't open it with everyone around, so took a chance for $5.99.
Got out to the truck, opened it, and it was only missing the batteries. Everything else was pristine, including the styrofoam. The tape even came off cleanly! I got a new set of AAAs that afternoon and it tested perfectly. Score!
Best weekend for thrifting ever after a long dry period. Sitting on the shelf next to the jigsaws, I found a Talisman 2nd Edition box in good condition.Wasn't able to open this in the shop to check the contents, but it only cost £1 so I decided to risk it.
Checked the contents against the fan sites and found I was missing a Shield Adventure Card, an Alignment Card, 1 x Gold counter and 1 x Blue(1) counter. Not sure how much this will affect the gameplay.
When separating out all the cards I realised that there were too many. Turns out that the box contained all the bits for the Talisman Expansion Set and the Talisman Adventure as well. Yay!
I found a set of 'Catominos'. I wish I was playing with these ladies, as they appear to have more fun with this than I have with dominoes. This wooden set with black background and white painted cats was probably a bit overpriced (for $1), but my daughter will like it.
I would have passed this game buy if not for this picture on BGG. I know nothing about this game, but I remembered seeing this picture of a bunch of people having a very good time with the game, so it became mine.
$1 at Goodwill in Toledo, where I was visiting for the day.
A quick run into Goodwill provided Make 'n Break Extreme for $.50. It about broke the bank! I was thinking about picking this up for vacation next week and now I don't have to worry about it anymore! Looks like great fun for kids and adults. Since the box is oversized I will just bag the contents and add it to my way too many games for what we will play stash.
Future Find: Acquire
*Future Find is my prediction for my next thrift find. I know it is close... its presence is near.
I was really pleased to find this, because I've been wanting to try this out. Sadly, I am missing the red commando's backpack, the blue probe robot, and 1 red access key. The box was also a bit tatty. I bought it anyway, because the electronic base worked in the store. Nice! and the bits were otherwise complete even the little weapons which I was sure would be missing. Anyone have a backpack or red commando, blue probe, and red access card for sale/trade? I'd love to have this complete.
Lord of the Rings Trivial pursuit for .99 at thrift. I only bought it for the very nice pewter minis, plastic mounted wraith, and the ONE RING. All the figures were still in plastic, but the box had been opened, apparently unplayed. The box had an unusual amount (not bad, though) of wear compared to the nice insides. Probably the toll of multiple regiftings.
My personal lifetime find! Ha, Just kidding. I can't wait to play it, though. It looks complete, with board, pawns (same as from a lame version of Ungame, I think), cards, "blackman" money, and d4. Looks to be missing the d6, which I am up to my eyeballs in spares. Event cards look to be things like "new baby loose 1000 a payday", or "get high, get kicked out of the military", etc. All things that just "happen" to the player, there seems to be no real control over events, i.e. no consequence to choices (like in real life), because there are no choices. You just move about the board in the different areas (military, church, glamourwood, black university, ghetto) and things just happen to you, including which career you get. Seems like a terrible propaganda piece, really, just picked up for the odd nature.
I actually don't remember the box saying "pro bowl edition", but it is dated 2000. It looks complete and unplayed, but was opened. 2.99 at thrift. They're getting more expensive at thrift, it seems.
EDIT: Actually this is a different edition than I find in the database. It's the "2000 NFL Premiere Edition." It's a pretty thick and heavy box. Maybe I can get some photos and an entry later this week.
Picked a copy of this up late yesterday for $1.99, new in shrink. I figured the nice wood tiles wood probably ebay nicely just like Scrabble tiles. I was pleasantly surprised to see the 7+ rating on this one, might even open it up & give it a play
Holy crap! I couldn't pass this up. What an absolute carnival of nightmarish carnage! I passed this over at first, until I looked closesly at what was going on. The little helpless grape people are getting sawed in half, mashed by a boot, rolled over by some toothy press, bisected by blades of doom, and on and on. I can't believe this ever got released. It's almost more disturbing that the colors are so bright and cheery, as if to mitigate the horrors being committed by your little sociopaths in training.
Edit: forgot to add, this was at the attrocious thrift price of 2.99!
You may remember last week I found this for 40.00 dollars, well this week I found one for 3. Sadly it is missing rules, 6 terrain tiles, 2 counters and several minis. All cards and dice though, so I can still play.
