Hi, and welcome to the first of the Mad Labs Polls. As I move forward towards self-publishing my Mad Labs game, I wanted to get your opinion and feedback about certain things.

This first thing isn't much of a big issue, (rather trivial actually) but I would still like your feedback and thoughts. It's about the naming of a few of the creatures.

(I've set the polls to collect info for a month. And not to be a thumb-whore or anything, but if you like the idea or concept of Mad Labs, please thumb this list so I can collect more feedback as it stays higher up on the hot or active lists. Thanks!)

The first creature I'm trying to decide upon is Frankenstein's Monster.

With creatures like Red Cap, Gremlin, or Poltergeist, it's not much of an issue. They are what they are. Even Headless Horseman or Gill-man is okay with me, as you're not necessarily creating THE Headless Horseman, just A headless horseman. (Although I may put Gill-man vs. Lagoon Creature up for a vote.)

Many are sensitive when they hear Frankenstein's Monster referred to as Frankenstein. Frankenstein was the doctor for crying out loud, not the monster!

I am NOT one of those people and am leaning towards naming this particular creature, Frankenstein. (I subscribe to the thought that the creature was in a sense the offspring of the doctor, and so has the right to use the fellows last name as well.)

I don't have an issue referring to this singular creation by his name, as I think it goes along with the theme of the game. Each Mad Scientist might be using part of the monster as part of one of their own creations. The monster was really a stitching up of multiple parts anyway.

Franky leads us to his bride. Depending upon the decision made regarding Frankenstein, I suppose the Bride would have to follow suit.

Although the movie was called Bride of Frankenstein, the Bride was made for the creature. Right? Not the Doctor... Anywho, what would best be the title of this one?

The other creature is Count Dracula.

I've wavered from Dracula, to Count Dracula, to simply vampire, on this one.

It makes sense to me that you might be stitching part of a vampire into one of your creations, but not the Count. While using Count Dracula, gives the game and creature some name power and recognition, it doesn't make much sense.

I've opted to go with Werewolf rather than Wolfman. I'm a fan of the powerful, hirsute beasts, but not so much of the fuzzy faced fellow of the silver screen. Since, the game isn't necessarily married to the classic movie monsters, I'm okay with this.

This also avoids the Dracula situation mentioned above. When you say Wolfman, you think of the Wolfman, not just a werewolf. But, what say you?

Finally, I have some questions.

Does anyone know if The BLOB or the FLY are in the public domain? Would I be able to have likenesses of these creatures and call them The Blob, or the Fly and not have to worry about legal recourse? Or would I have to rename the Blob to something like The Goo or the Ooze.

Thanks for your input!
