(I am not sure if this has been done in a geeklist before, but here it is.)
As I am a science fiction/fantasy fanatic, I have noticed that all tv science fiction/fantasy genre shows all have certain plot devices/themes that continuously pop up in each of the series. If the series goes on enough years, you also can see the same plot pop up multiple times, either with different characters or done in a slightly different way.
This list is devoted to those ever loved re-used plots that we all love!!!!
*****Please add items to the list of these famous plot devices, or add an episode of one of your favorite shows that follows these plots!

The "It's A Wonderful Life" episode.
You know the episodes where the "what if" the hero did not have their powers (lost them or never had them) or they had made different choices earlier in life, would everyone, including themselves been better off?
Angel, season 1, episode "I Will Remember You".
"Buffy arrives in L.A., furious that Angel did not tell her that he was in Sunnydale. While they are talking, they are attacked by a Mohra demon, and some of its blood gets onto Angel. After a brief hunt, they kill the demon, but its blood is having a strange effect on Angel. He feels short of breath, dizzy, and disoriented, and then suddenly his heart begins to beat. Now fully human, Angel must decide how this will affect his relationship with Buffy and whether or not he can still be a Champion" (tv.com).

The "History" episodes.
Another common plot device is to have known historic figures make appearances. In the original Star Trek we had Abe Lincoln, as well as Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp. Babylon 5 had Jack the Ripper, though in an unexpected place and role.
