I have slowly (ok, quite rapidly really) become addicted to the thrill of being thumbed. I just got my first microbadge award, copper geeklister, and I pretty much decided right there that I was going to get the golden geeklister award. However, I don't want to get the award with just a bunch of measly 5thumbsup lists, I want quality to go along with quantity.

This got me to wondering who has the best combination of quantity and quality when it comes to geeklisting.

So, I clicked on the golden geeklister microbadge and was surprised to discover that only 31 users have received the award - can that be right? I would have thought there would be many more. Then I went to each of their profiles in order to get the number of geeklists they have created and the number of thumbs they have received for geeklists. I did not include geeklist items and the corresponding thumbs.

I used this extremely complex mathematical formulation - number of geeklist thumbs/number of geeklists - in order to arrive at the Thumbs Per Game rating, or TPG for short.

Here are the results of my findings along with some little tidbits of info I picked up along the way...

Here, in ascending order by TPG, are the huddled masses:

29)docreason - Geeklists: 161, Thumbs: 1029, TPG = 6.39

28)pmboos - Geeklists: 96, Thumbs: 972, TPG = 10.61

27)boneroller - Geeklists: 78, Thumbs: 912, TPG = 11.69

26)Guantanamo - Geeklists: 76, Thumbs: 943, TPG = 12.41

25)Firepigeon - Geeklists: 93, Thumbs: 1165, TPG = 12.53

24)huber - Geeklists: 189, Thumbs: 2927, TPG = 15.49

23)Chuckles - Geeklists: 124, Thumbs: 1996, TPG = 16.10

22)Csigs - Geeklists: 55, Thumbs: 936, TPG = 17.02

21)Der Das - Geeklists: 70, Thumbs: 1464, TPG = 20.91

20)jyeackle - Geeklists: 57, Thumbs: 1304, TPG = 22.88

19)The Maverick - Did you know this guy has submitted 1424 games to the database?? That's like 1/30th of the whole thing or something like that. That is absolutely crazy cool! I wonder if there is anyone who has contributed more than that - probably not I would guess. Also, he has quite a collection of BGG awarded microbadges.
Geeklists: 60, Thumbs: 1464, TPG = 24.40

18)stormseeker75 - For the record, I like the old avatar better. It had a much creepier vibe that always made me look at it for a minute until a shiver would go down my spine.
Geeklists: 68, Thumbs: 1678, TPG = 24.68

17)BaSL - Geeklists: 86, Thumbs: 2172, TPG = 25.26

16)J.L.Robert - Geeklists: 76, Thumbs: 2003, TPG = 26.36

15)jmsr525 - Geeklists: 68, Thumbs: 1814, TPG = 26.68

14)Friendless - Ironically, he is on 226 geekbuddy lists. Maybe a change of name is in order? Friendfull, perhaps? I'm only on two...
Geeklists: 62, Thumbs: 1671, TPG = 26.95

13)jgrundy - Geeklists: 100, Thumbs: 2764, TPG = 27.64 (duh…feeling embarrassed that I mindlessly plugged that into a calculator…)

12)Randy Cox - Geeklists: 137, Thumbs: 3844, TPG = 28.06

11)Sky Knight X - D'oh! You only needed .01 more TPG to qualify as Massive rather than the Masses. Sorry bro.
Geeklists: 89, Thumbs: 2669, TPG = 29.99

There are two disqualifications that need to be mentioned. DenverGames was disqualified on the basis of not being an individual user and Lajos was disqualified because his profile only showed that he had created 25 geeklists. Interestingly, DenverGames' TPG is the absolute lowest at 4.93 and Lajos' TPG is the absolute highest at 55.40.

Since I used The Massive Vs. The Masses: Gamorzilla the Giant Monster Vs. The Army to classify these golden geeklisters into the 'masses' and the 'massive' I am going to refer to the King of Geeklisters as Gamorzilla.

Here are the 'massive' ones leading all the way up to Gamorzilla himself:

It was from DKahnt that I first heard about Sicherman Dice. He has the poem "Jabberwocky" by Lewis Carroll quoted in full on his profile - a plus in my book. In addition, he is one of only nine folks to have the Golden Meeple BGG microbadge award. I can only presume he threatened Aldie with his vorpal blade...

Featuring a snazzy Uberbadge/Avatar combo, Grimwold is made up of 65% Nerd, 43% Geek, and 17% Dork which, when you stop to think about it, is kind of retarded since it adds up to more than 100%. I will not be taking that particular quiz at the end of the link since I am still clinging to the illusion that I am not any of those things.

Inexplicably, it appears that Grimwold has never actually completed a trade through BGG. People - we need to change that!

The thing I am most intrigued about is the little music notes surrounding Verkisto's name. How'd he do that??? He also has a nifty little 'how'd you get here?' poll in his profile - a feature I might implement to moniter the traffic from my two geekbuddies.

However, the most astonishing thing about Verkisto is his wishlist. It has 0 games on it. Zero. None, nada, zip, zilch. Now that, my friends, is either perfect contentment or masochism.

His most thumbed geeklist is the beloved archetypal The Generic Geeklist. 384 thumbs. I didn't thumb it back when it was created because I didn't undertand it at first. Then, when I got the joke I felt stupid about not getting the joke sooner. Now, upon re-reading it, I have given it my green thumb blessing and bumped it to 385.

Drew's hobbies include, but are not limited to, tilting at windmills, knocking down straw men, and pushing obnoxious gas-bags off their self-erected pedestals. At first I thought searching for God knows what was one of his hobbies as well, but then I realized it was one of his favorite books. It does sound like a hobby he might like though, don't you think?

Legomancer is a self-proclaimed godless liberal who likes legos and comics. I thought it was neat to see Bone on your list - I read it quite a long time ago and enjoyed it. It is the only comic I think I would actually look at if I saw it today.

Legomancer's most thumbed geeklist is Intelligence Report on Subject #M33P135: The Meeples. 635 thumbs - I forced myself to read part of this since it was so popular. I guess meeples just aren't my thing.

RPG writer and industry insider ynnen likes They Might be Giants and MST3K - yay! Of course, probably every geek likes those things. My favorite MST3K moment had to be when they pointed out the error in the TITLE of the movie: Attack of the the Eye Creatures. It was easy to miss because each 'the' was on a different line. Too funny...

His most thumbed geeklist is Geeks Gone Wild >> How to P**s Off Your Favorite Gamer. 430 thumbs - for some reason even though I find the list mildly intriguing it somehow doesn't say 'thumb me!' to me. Sorry about that ynnen.

Winner of the prestigious microbage design award. I'm guessing since he is a civil war buff that the badges of the civil war dudes are what won you the award? Being from Massachusetts I have never understood the fascination with the civil war. No matter how many times you re-enact it the North still wins.
