What game are you going to/did you play while waiting for the results? What made you decide to go for that candidate (game that is)?

Will/did you choose...
A light game perhaps? "I can't focus for very long because of the anticipation"
A meaty game maybe? "I'm so nervous, I need to sink my teeth into something that will keep the mind busy"
A party game then? "I'm celebrating already!"

"I'm choosing the thematic approach."

Maybe the most likely candidate to be the choice of the BGG voters as election-day-game.

We played Jamaica. I figured a game about pirates that use any means necessary and take whatever they want in order to come out ahead was appropriate. Also, like in Jamaica, just because you won the race doesn't mean you won the game. I have a hunch we may seem some of that later tonight...

My parents came by this evening for a visit so my daughters and I played this with them (after we returned from voting). It has no link to election day itself but was fun and went over well with this group of nongamers.

Our local gaming group (Broomfield Gamers) got together for mid-week gaming with a big turnout (12) and we all set about playing Dominion (3 games at once!). Some even went on to play a second time. This was after an initial round of "When Pigs Fly".

I finally pulled out Fredericus and taught my wife how to play. I got it from Mayfair for $4. It's not really bad in any way, just generally underwhelming.

No thematic reason for Fredericus, it was just time to teach it. Plus it's small and it was able to be played on the living room floor with little trouble.
