Pardon the theft... I saw greatredwarrior's GeekList, Games I have trouble getting on the Table, and this was the first thought that came to mind.

His list was serious, mine tragic.

I live in a small house with an even smaller kitchen that barely contains my even smaller kitchen table. It's approximately 2'6" by 4'0" and can just handle most standard boards (22" x 34"). It can get a bit crowded with auxilary pieces like player boards, aids, and supplies. But there is a whole host of games that I just had to have that can't even be played in my house. Yet still, I continue to buy them.

So I present to you my puny kitchen table and the games I have trouble getting on it.

My first experience with multi-pieced boards. Getting back into gaming, I was looking for more of the same format as my beloved Axis & Allies. I stumbled across Eagle Games and their Epic sized games. I bought this with the sole intention of playing it on my friend's pool table.

Unfortunately, the friendship ended before we could play and this has been collecting dust ever since. My kitchen table can barely hold one of the three pieces of this monster board.

This one is too large as well.

Fortunately, my company has a condo in Bonita Springs, Florida. A co-worker had just gotten back and we had an upcoming vacation planned. I spied a large dining room table in his pictures and made plans to pack this bad boy in my luggage.

We flew it down and set it up for a 3-night session. Unfortunately, the first taste left a bad impression. I'd like to try this one again but the table I left in Indiana can't contain the Middle-Earth. So while I sulk, this keep NiE company at the bottom of my games pile.

Looks like I need a vacation before I can try it again.

The moment I played my first few games, I knew this was going to be a long relationship. I immediately went out and bought 2 of everything for those Overlord opportunities.

What was I thinking? I can barely get one board on my table with all the card stands, deck, and reference cards. There is no way to storm the beaches in my kitchen. Alas, I have had to settle for the Vassal experience when it comes to the OL.

Much like Memoir, Arkham Horror is barely contained on my table with all the decks, investigators, and GOOs running around. Creative deck placement allows me to sit at the table when I play but there is no room for the expansions.

I can play either Dunwich or Kingsport by adding a TV tray from the living room but both is out of the question. There is too much Mythos for my table.

Having not learned my lesson from NiE, I again went to Eagle when it was time to find a game theme I wanted. Again, the three boards are impossible to fit on my table. Luckily, there is a decent 2-player variant that takes the middle section so I have actually gotten this one on my table. But I full game won't leave the station until I have a full table.

Unfortunately, by the time I got this and realized how much I would like it, Rails of Europe (which I think has a normal-sized board) has been hard to find. This might make the game more plausible to play in my house.

My most recent acquisition and tormented decision comes full circle back to Axis and Allies. I wanted that next level and that I would find it in EE. But hosting a double board, EE won't fit on the table either.

While I pine over the wood and organize my chits, I have no plans to get this to any table anytime soon.

And the game that started it all. Having not played this since I got into Memoir, I am looking forward to the Anniversary edition to ignite my passion for this game once again.

And fitting such a grand release, they have decided to make a larger board. Seems only fitting that it won't fit on the table. Proving that I will never learn my lesson, this is a must have game for me.

Ah well, time to get a bigger table I guess....

This is a game that is insanely large, I could probably get maybe 20% of it on my small round "gaming table" at home. We had to play this on 2 side-by-side banquet tables with a plywood sheet in the middle.

War in the Pacific, one of the monstriest of monster wargames. This one's a beast. 32 counter sheets--32! And look at those maps!

Here's another picture from a MonsterCon, using the December 7 map:

These dudes just gave up and posted it on a sheetmetal wall:

Forget kitchen table. You need one of those banquet tables, like the one in Batman.

I think he (the German fellow) likes Ameritrash more and I think everyone would hate it.

Damn, I likely will never play this game.

I do have a corkboard wall in my game area that I have used to pin some games up. The last one was Red Star Rising. Yes, it does damage the map and counters having pin holes in them but at least I have a place to play them. My wall is too small to set Highway up. Here where I work at East Tennessee State University I saw the perfect corkboard wall in the Art building, too bad I couldn't use it.
