I was going to make the title Inday Board Dominion-gamers Meetup, but strikethroughs don't work in the title for some reason.

What did we play this week?

Games 1 2 3
Denise 28 24 24
Kevin 27 33 21
Brent 20 24 29
Tom 19 36 31

Games 4 5
Todd 36 28
Ross 27 25
Kevin 18 18
Jeff 19 31

One table has become the designated Dominion table seeing another 5 games played this week.

Game 4 was the basic setup and I tried the strategy of focusing on getting silver and gold cards. I think I only had 4 action cards by the end of the game. It was accused of being a boring but effective strategy.

Game 5 was our first attempt at a completely random setup. Very few action cards gave extra actions. Ironically, I bought more action cards this game than in game 4. Both games Ross was trying to make the remodel card useful, but he wasn't having much luck.

I do believe this game won the 'Kevin seal of approval'.

At table #3, the pot luck table, was Steel Driver. I guess it's a new Martin Wallace train game described as 18xx in an hour. This was Max's 2nd time playing and everyone else's first. Ross went into the auctions trying to win 2 companies regardless which 2 he got. This put him in position to control 3 companies when it came to collecting cubes at the end of the game. I was struggling with just trying to understand the rules.

I may play it again just to see if I like more when I understand it better, but right now it's going into the same pile as all the other Wallace games (and possibly train games in general), ie. I'd rather play something else.

Kevin before the game, "Ooh, Stone Age, I like that one."
Kevin after the game, "I hate that game."

I almost feel guilty this game since things just seem to go my way. 1st turn, I was going 3rd, Ross was the start player. Ross grabbed a 2 builder card in the 1 resource slot. Kevin grabbed food. I went after people, and managed to grab people again the next 2 turns putting me at 8 for turn 4. I went straight into a point eating strategy. I'm sure Ross will point out that I didn't have 1 bad roll the entire game. They were all average to high.

Ross had a good number of builder cards, but little else. Me and Kevin both had 7 unique green civ cards. I finished the game with 9 people, 10 huts, 5 tools, 5 shamans, 3 tool makers, 1 builder, and 2 farmers (worth 0 points. It was a random face down card from another card.) As Ross said, I had the most cards, tools, huts, and people. That's kind of hard to beat.

The game ended with the card deck running out with the hut stacks at something like 1, 3, 2, 2 tiles remaining.

I just realized something. We played with 4 hut stacks instead of 3. Oops. I wonder how that would have changed things.

While waiting for other games to finish, Jeff and Ross played one of Max's prototypes. Some type of dice rolling train game.
