Attandance was around 40 players. These were some of the games played during 2009 January BOGA-night:

"Come in and join the fun on the second Friday of each month! Come join the rest of the Boardgamers of Great Akron (BOGA) for a fine evening in boardgames! Bring your favorite games to play and we also have a large selection of demo games for you to try!

Inspired by CABS in Columbus, Underhill's Games in Cuyahoga Falls has graciously agreed to host for us on the 2nd Friday of every month from 6pm - 2am (or later if still going strong at that time).

The store is big with plenty of open gaming space and has snacks and drinks available. Plus there's a Donatos right across the street and McDonalds next door if snacking just won't cut it. The store also has a large selection of demo copies of games that we can play. There's no entry fee. So just mark your calendar and let's all meet and play together!

What to bring:
Nothing is required, but you may want to bring your favorite games and a little cash for some food and drinks.

Visit Underhillsgames.com for directions. Tell all your friends! See you there."

Please add games you played and comment as you wish! Thank you.

I am currently undergoing recovery and rehab from an ACL reconstruction & meniscus surgery on my right knee. Therefore, I can not drive. Despite the severe winter weather, Craig was so nice to pick me up from my rehab facility and drive me to the game store. Thank you, Craig!

After a quick dinner at Subway, we arrived at Underhill's around 6:30pm. Despite the winter storm outside, the store was already starting to fill up pretty good.

To fulfill one of my 2009 BGG resolutions and play more of my unplayed games, I decided to give this game a try. It looked like a quick card filler from Michael Schacht, the desiger of 'Web of Power' or 'Industria'.

We had 5 players. Allright little game. One off my unplayed list. I think I'd like to play this once or twice more, but it's probably not a keeper.

After we finished 'Don', we had enough people standing around to form two new groups. One table headed off playing 'Cosmic Encounter' while Craig, Brendan, Grant and myself decided to stay and give 'Galaxy Trucker' a try. Grant was kind enough to teach, thank you!

This game somehow always flew under my personal radar screen. It reminded me a lot of 'Factory Fun' and 'Ubongo' (the timer). After completely botching up my very first ship, I scored big time on my third one (only one open connector and coming in in first place) and won the game. I had fun!

We couldn't decide for a while whether to play 'Agricola' or 'Shogun' next. Finally, a majority gathered around 'Shogun', which we had wanted to play for a long time. I had introduced 'Wallenstein' to BOGA a while ago, so this would be our second try.

Ken had to drop our after the first scoring. It looked like I was going to win one turn before the end. Then, everyone ganged up on me (logical choice) and I lost 4 provinces, 3 temples, 2 theatres and 1 castle in the last turn. Craig managed to pull off a solid victory. Bummer, but great game!
