It was a good game night. We had 9 in our group I think and as we were leaving there was another group of guys setting up Arkham Horror with several of the expansions.

AZ Boardgamers is a weekly board game group In Phoenix Arizona's east valley. We play every Friday night at Gamer's Inn in Mesa.
Check our or yahoo group http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/azboardgamers for more information.

Next week broke into two groups. The other group was playing
Battlestar Galactica and we played pillars 4 player with the expansion. I really love the base game but will only play it 3 players. This was my second play of the expansion and it is growing on me. I have to agree with Rob that adding extra craftsmen changes the game. It is not as strategic but it is also less programed. Rob took a big early lead but I managed to catch him with superior sculptors at the end.

Steve: 58
Rob: 56
Ray: 39
Greg: 37

The BSG game was still in progress so Greg and I tried the Stores copy of the Catan Dice Game. It wasn't very good but it did pass the time and I am glad I got to try it. I didn't write the score but I think Greg won by 11.

Amelia/Tyrol and Scott/Admiral Adama were new to this gem, so together with Noah/Baltar, Matt/Lee Adama, and I/Roslyn, we set out to get the humans to Kobol.

Well, not all of us, of course. I was a Cylon from the beginning, as was Scott. Being new to the game, Scott made an early newbie mistake (put a negative card in one of the first skill challenges), and before long he was outed.

I chose to stay hidden, though, and years of playing Werewolf paid off. I spent most of the game sandbagging my skill cards, or needlessly overplaying them so as not to have any for future challenges. Even better, as the President I was able to repeatedly choose the more painful of two conflict cards turn after turn. It was great fun.

When the humans finally started closing in on their penultimate jump, I revealed myself. By then the fleet's morale was down to 1 and their fuel down to 2. They managed to force their next-to-last jump, but it used up their remaining fuel, ending the game with a win for the Cylons.

As usual.

We gave the fleet one extra point of everything at the beginning, but it still wasn't enough. We'll try 2 points next time.

Amelia and I tried the 2-player version of this game. I'd never played before. The tension wasn't really there, but that's ok, Amelia and I just took our time and we enjoyed it. Amelia with her early dragon purchase was able to stay out front even after the end game death and dismemberment she endured. She won by 3 or 4.
