Formula D(E) - Circuit Metrics
- Erik LeppoUnited States
This is an attempt to come up with some metrics to compare the various circuits available for Formula DE. I was unable to find a definitive list of this information. I have added links to specific tracks where I could find this information.Recommend
I was able to get a lot of my initial information from the Java version of the game. Not all the tracks are available within the program.
I have since double-checked the information on the actual copies.

Total number of required stops in corners. Number in parentheses denotes number of 1 stop, 2 stop, and 3 stop corners.
Total number of spaces in the corners (Max/Avg/Min). Max and Min from printed numbers on the map boards.
Difficulty metric for the corners on a particular circuit. It is the average number of spaces in the corners per required stop. The lower the number the more difficult the corners (small number of spaces and/or lots of stops). The higher the number the easier the corners (more spaces and/or fewer stops). Range is 3.17 (Marino) to 7.40 (Daytona Beach).
This is the least number of rolls required to complete the circuit. Stats are from the all time records list on the website where the program is available. I assume these are racing conditions (variable weather and tire set up). This is the most important and telling metric of the overall difficulty of the circuit. Range is 11 to 18.
Minimum number of rolls correlates best with Corner Stops (r²=0.63). The rest don't correlate as well. So if picking tracks based on the length of time you have to play, pick a track with fewer stops for a shorter game.

I won't attempt to do reviews of each map as its been done before. Here is a GeekList that does a good job;
If you want post links to reviews in the comments for each map.
Maps were put into a PDF for quick viewing and printing.
Excel file for stats.
