I know (guess) there are some more or less similar geeklists out there (I don't even want to check them not to steal ideas) but this one is about people I play with (friends, relatives, people at the game club etc.)
It won't be simply a list of them, it's about their behaviour, some typical things they have been doing when we were playing in the last one year (I consider myself a geek since last year). (Some items are not even only about one of them but a few.)
I guess this list will be more about 'negative' values, things that differ from what I'd call average or 'normal' way of playing. Still I mostly like playing with these people; if I wouldn't then I would play board games only once or twice a month. People are different... I just have to accept nobody's perfect.

He thinks he knows what the ideal number of players is for each game (it's not always the same as the numbers you see at BGG). It wouldn't be a problem but he wants to play these games only with the 'ideal' number of people, and says no to whoever would like to join (e.g. to a 2-player Cartagena)... Which I don't find to be the perfect behaviour in a gaming club.

She's kind and nice... But she can't explain a game. Probably she undertands the mechanism very well, but she doesn't know how to explain the rules in a way that others also get it. She tells the rules without any reasonable order or logical connection between the sentences: she just concentrates on telling all the rule elements, but to understand it is like a puzzle that an art movie provides with jumping time and story elements, flashbacks and flashforwards.

(update: some months later I attended the club and she explained two games, and she kept saying she hates explaining rules. But her skills have evolved a lot: I had no problem understanding Bombay and Himalaya as she explained them.)
(and another update: since then she's explained lots of games to me and by now she's pretty good in explaining rules.)

He is very good in games, he wins a large percentage of them. Maybe that's the reason why he hates losing even the very first game. He gets nervous if he can't see the winning strategies before the first game. So whenever I explain a new game to him, even if it has more than 10 sentences of rules I have to explain all the finest details before the first game. Even so it might happen I didn't mention something or he doesn't remember I told him so when I kindly remind him of that rule during the play (when I feel he might not be aware of that) he looks at me with a strange face that says 'come on, if you told me that earlier then I would have had a chance..."

From one extreme to the other: let's say this game DOES have a ten-sentences-rule. There are some players who give it up after the fifth sentence and say 'let's start it and we'll learn the rest during the game' even if they don't even know, say, the end conditions yet.

He explains the rules very well. Still, there are games that have a complex ruleset so probably you haven't learned and understood everything during the explanation.
He will be very impatient when you do moves that aren't allowed or ask questions about things already explained once, repeating the missed rule loudly and angrily.

He likes Tichu. But

- When he teaches it to others he says 'Oh and there is something called Grand Tichu... But we won't play that as that makes zero sense."
In other words, he is the 'experienced player' who knows more than the designers.

- Even if you have declared 'Tichu' in the beginning of the game (and he is your partner in the game) he will keep on taking the tricks, eventually leading you to a situation you can't win.
In other words, he plays the games in a way that he can show how good he is in the game - even if this means both of you will lose for the same reason.

He loves any kind of games that contain at least a little strategy. But if there is even a tiny bit of luck included, his 'strategy' simply relies on luck, e.g. 'I will draw the appropriate card.'. So he quite often loses but if he had bad luck he will get angry and consider the game bad, although it was him who didn't employ any strategy.

It's not a negative quality. He simply knows all the cards that others have: after some turns he could tell who has which cards (say, you have a standard deck of cards and everyone is holding more than ten cards in their hands...). It's an amazing power/talent, I can't even imagine how I would play if I could do the same.

Okay, that's me, the guy who reads the rules and after the first play I read them again to know what we missed. Most players don't do it though so I had some funny parties, like last autumn when I just learned Tigris&Euphrates and had my first game with some experienced players who had the first edition and played it numerous times in the last decade. In every ten minutes I had to correct them as they were playing according to several wrongly interpreted rules. Then they always checked it in the rulebook and said 'oh no, we played it wrong since 1997!'
I can say it as an advice: check the rulebooks after the first or first some games. There might be some surprises in them.

Sometimes she plays with us (and his boyfriend). She is a kind girl... a bit too kind to her boyfriend. She doesn't want to hurt him (and also expects him not to hurt her). So if we're playing they have a serious advantage as they are playing this 'don't hurt me' meta-game during our play...and that takes away from the enjoyment of the game.
On the other hand, we (my wife and me) really kill each other during the same play.

I know it's not only girls... But I have only known girls with this approach to games. It's somewhat the same as the one above, only with 2 players: you and her.
She hates any aggressive moves. She doesn't want you to offend her, to cross her ways, to block her (or take points away from her). She doesn't want you to hurt her. She feels really hurt when you do something that's not good for her in the game, and it's once again a meta-game she plays.

For many non-gamer girls (who have certainly come from Venus) the game is only a way of spending time together, so she doesn't really want to play it according to the rules of the game, she wants to play it according to the rules of a woman-man relationship. It takes some time and even some injurements until she learns how to separate the rules of the game from the rules of your life. If you both keep on working on the case, you might be rewarded as I am with my wife who started the same way (well maybe not to the extreme) and now she loves playing Hive, Battle Line or Samurai with me (see here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/39705 )

I guess everyone knows here what kingmaking is. Some players really like kingmaking (or in some cases, de-throning which eventually leads to somebody else becoming the king), even in a game that doesn't really provide possibilities. They just try to make everyone turn against somebody ('he's gonna win! You all have to work on stopping him!'), letting somebody else win.
Well in some cases I do find it fun. Let's say somebody has won a game of luck (No Thanks!) four times in a row... Now our common aim is defeating her, no matter who wins but her!

Or he just doesn't like this one very much but wants to see the other one that looks much more interesting, so he keeps checking that game instead. So you always have to remind him it's his turn and when he looks at the board he asks 'What's happened?'

It's okay though, you just have to be aware of his possibly different goals.

So he keeps commenting how bad this game is, trying to convince others why this is a bad game (maybe even hoping the game will end before it should). He simply destroys the entertainment of others, also affects how they will like the game in the end.

This is really like in school, after an exam, when the best student of your class keeps complaining how many mistakes he did then one week later, seeing the results of course he is the only one who got an A.
