Sometimes a game has components other than additional blank cards, and these are pretty useless. Why have they been put there? What are players supposed to do with them? Why on earth they haven't been put to better use?

The additional cards - namely the Placeholder cards and 'Trash' card. Alright, so these have a different back. You can make an additional deck out of them which serves you the purspose of showing where the other cards of that type should lie. And the Trash card is an indicator of a place where you put trashed cards. An additional place on the table wouldn't suffice, I suppose?

You can find tokens of different characters in the game. Some of them can be used in a certain situation. Others though, are useless, as you have to keep a card of the character beside your sheet anyway, so what are you supposed to use these for? Also, there are some additional enemies on some double-sided tokens. That's not much of an issue, since one side is useful. But what about the other? Well, the game creator says they may be used in an expansion or modules for the game. But for now - useless.

Ok, 4 completely useless tokens. Seriously - they do not have any usage. At all. I could understand a card - if it's nice you can always use it as a book marker. But a token?
Oh, and it's the same with Tain, another game from the publisher.

(Just added this to another similar list, but what the hey...)

The board adds nothing to this game. Nothing you can't achieve by using a replacement such as twelve inches of table and a modicum of common sense, at least

The tower turn order markers are totally useless. I know.. I know... they were intended for some other function, but then the game got changed before publishing.

These are the coccyx of gaming evolution.

Metropolis markers from 4th edition Catan: Cities & Knights. I never use them. I completely forgot that they even came with the game until I saw this geeklist. Does anyone use these?

the dracula figure. Never actually is used in the game. we usually sit him at the top of the board near the "vampires" track, just for shits and giggles.

I am sure people are tired of hearing me say, but the goods chips are completely worthless. They make the game unnecessarily fiddly. The game works just fine using one color of cubes or counters for everything. Makes the game play a lot faster as well.

New England comes with four black cylinders. When you score a tile you flip it over. The cylinders are included for you to place on the tile before you flip it, so everyone knows which tile you are flipping.

It's really that ridiculous. You are supposed to put the cylinders on the tile, then remove them, then flip the tile. The cylinders then wait until the next tile is scored.

You have to use your fingers to drop the cylinders on the tile, why not just use your fingers to point to the tiles?

In case you're wondering, the caption for the picture I chose for this entry is "The four (useless) wooden markers"

The "Master of the City" token serves no purpose. It seems it was put in to equalize the space on the 2nd counter sheet where the Leonardo counter was on the first counter sheet. The rules say to put it above one section of the board....and then it is never mentioned again.
