Yes, it's another self-indulgent GeekList; but it's my self-indulgent GeekList, and thus inherently more important.
I started logging plays about a year after discovering BGG, largely so I could get a better sense of how well my collection was being utilized. To that end, I will give a huge shout-out to Friendless and his Extended BGG Stats (http://friendless.servegame.org/stats/)--it helps a body decide on his gaming priorities.
Mea culpa: I log expansions as full plays. Yes, in the eyes of many this de-legitimizes my play logging. I prefer to think of it as a lifestyle choice.

So here's my story.

The obligatory "game that got me started" entry.
My wife and I wandered into a game store in Vancouver called Drexoll Games, and we marveled at all these games that we'd never heard of. Some of them weren't even in English or French (they had copies of Wallenstein); my interest was well and truly piqued.
Before taking the plunge, I did a little research on the net and found BGG. I decided on trying Carcassonne first, and it went over real well.

At 90, I've logged more plays of Blue Moon than any other game--and I started playing Blue Moon before I started logging plays. This is my favourite two-player game, and it used to be my wife's as well (she might prefer Race for the Galaxy now). The number of times we've played Khind (her preferred deck) vs. Terrah (my preferred deck) must be over a dozen.
Blue Moon is my second-favourite game ever, so I'm very pleased I've been able to play as much as I have.

At 76, #2 on my most-played list is the ever popular catch-all Unpublished Prototype. All things being equal, I don't like playtesting prototypes (I am lazy, prefer balance and like nice bits)--I call them "fake games"--but there are three reasons why I play so many:
-I have had the good fortune to playtest some of Mac Gerdts' games. They are always a joy to play, and being able to contribute to one of your favourite designer's games is a thrill and a half.
-I'm friends with Chris Cieslik, designer of such excellent games as Sixis and We Didn't Playtest This at All (okay, the latter I didn't playtest, natch). His prototypes are invariably well-produced physically as well as gameplay-wise.
-I'm also friends with Rob Seater, chief game honcho of Cambridge Games Factory. He's also fiendishly fond of prototypes, and he's often carting one or two around with him at game nights.

Next up is Race at 69 plays. One of the game groups I attend has several people that had played prepublished versions of Race, and they wouldn't shut up about how awesome it was. I joked with one of them that the release of Race would mark a sea-change in our collections, demarcating the pre-Race period from the post-Race period. It was only a slight exaggeration.

#4 at 50. Fairy Tale was the first filler that really clicked with me, and this became another game that my wife would play regularly. Our former roommate Arran was an addict for a time, wanting to play 4 or 5 times in succession--she is one of the few people who could want to play more and for me to want to stop.

#5 at 47 plays. I don't play on BSW, but really, when the game takes 15 minutes it's no wonder I've played so much. Also, my friends Liz and Anne are insatiable for this sucker, so again I've played 4-5 games in succession at times.

#6 at 42. Despite having played a fair number of times, I am not very good at this game--this is unsurprising, because no one claims to be good at this one. A game of T&E is often like getting four losers together to see who loses the least.
That said, T&E is my favourite game of all time. I love it so much I imported the Pegasus version because I preferred the art and wanted the variant board (this was before Mayfair announced it would publish a revised version).

#7 at 41. When I lived in Montreal, my FLGS (Le Valet d'coeur, the best damn game store evar!!!!1!1) ran tournaments of this every week--so every Sunday I would play 5-7 times. At the time, I was starved for gaming, so got into the game because I knew I would never want for opponents. This proved to be a) costly, but b) a great move because I ended up befriending several of the store employees, and I'm in touch with them several years later. The game itself is alright, but mostly I remember the people.

Tied for #7 at 41 is Kutschfahrt. Have you tried it? No? Well then, no offense, but what is wrong with you? I was a serious Kutschfahrt evangelist for a while after it came out, even going so far as getting four or five copies from Le Valet at a time to bring them back to people in Massachusetts. It was the first really good 6 player game of a reasonable duration that I tried, and I still think it's the best antidote to Bang! since suicide.
I am very proud of the fact that I have logged more plays of this than anyone else on BGG.

So, what game was play #2000? That was Dorn, last night. I'm really liking Dorn, even if the replay value might be a little limited. It's Euro-Descent in roughly 60 minutes. I enjoyed my first play earlier in the week, but it was sullied by the Overlord/Dungeon Master/Dornkeeper insisting that there was a) one optimal strategy for him to pursue, and b) said optimal strategy had no chance of winning. If you're reading this, sorry, but you were a bit off the mark; afore-mentioned Chris was Dornkeeper last night and pasted the heroes pursuing a very good "needle, withdraw, then swarm" series of tactics.

So there we go. Not a perennial favourite, not at all likely to become so, but a worthy 2000th play.
