I hate shuffling small piles. Give me a deck of 52, or 32, and I'll shuffle happily in the corner all day. Give me 10 cards and expect some randomization, and I go nuts. So here starts a list of games that need constant shuffling of small stacks. Also post your suggested solutions to the short stack.

The first one most people would think of today. A shuffle of 10, then a shuffle of 12, then a shuffle of 14-16 (depending on the cards you bought before the second shuffle). From then on it starts getting better, unless you are playing a small stack strategy, then you'll probably be under 20 for quite a while.

This inspired the list. I just bought the game and find it a great game. The cards however...a disappointment. The artwork is good, but I can get cards of that quality at a dollar store. Sleaves, here we come.

Maybe sleaves will help shuffling the epidemic cards into the 4-6 player card piles, or the constant reshuffling of the infection card discard pile.

Not only a small stack of only 15 event cards, but the cards are of the smallish kind used for Ticket to Ride, i.e. 4.4x6.6cm which are hopeless to shuffle no matter how many. Oh, and the two shown in the picture are cards that force a reshuffle, so on average you only get through 1/3 of the deck before it's time to reshuffle.

Forgot this one too. Printed it up to try. Frankily, it needs more cards, but that can be labourious for a print-and-play. I can fit a deck of 52 in my pocket, though, how about you?

Any of the Columbia block games that use cards for activation points make this list. Hammer, Liberty: The American Revolution 1775-83, Crusader Rex, and probably others have a deck of 25 thin-stock cards.

I love the game but not this part....

At the end of each time period (3 in total) do the following:

1) Sort your discard pile of 9 cards
2) Return opponents' cards
3) Receive your cards back from opponents
4) 'Shuffle' your 9 cards ready for the next round
5) 'Shuffle' the 6 character cards

Yep you're right - strange how it seems easier to randomise 52 cards rather than just 6!
