There has been some call for a separate list for the wonderful things we find that are not game related. This answers that call! And the State is pleased.

As usual, this list starts empty, but it grows as folks add to it. If you can, try to post a snapshot of your find with your entry!

Anyway, if you're looking for the games thrift store lists, they are here:

I found two great Tiki mugs that were made for I believe an old mid-century establishment called Hawaiian Inn and one for a Luau Hut (total of three); $1.81 for the two former each and the Luau Hut one was 80 cents at Value Village. All these are vintage. I love the faces on the Hawaiian Inn ones, definitely not typical and they are marked Japan on them.

A Netgear Print Server for about $4 at GW. No power adapter, but I have a spare at home. It'll take some doing to get everything running with my Linksys Router. I could have picked up a Netgear Router on the same shelf, but then I wouldn't have a power adapter. Decisions, decisions.

I found a great stainless steel smoking box for wood chips; you use it on a grill and place wet woodchips in it so they smoke and give flavor to your meats. I was psyched as it was from Sur la Table which is a better chef's store IMHO opinion than Williams-Sonoma. Got it for $5 brand new in the box. Pretty certain it is $20+. Something I'll definitely use.

Got an awesome Danish mid-century table-planter combo. Only missing the plastic "box" that holds the plants. Should be able to make a replacement. Was marked at $30, but was half off, so it was $15. Easily worth $60-100. Cleaned up great...

On my way home from work, I stopped in at a Goodwill and saw The Sims 3 in a display case for $19.99. Yes, the same Sims 3 that just came out earlier this month. My sister paid $45 for it the day it came out, and that was with a coupon!

The disc is in great condition, and it includes a manual and key, as well as a $10 Sims Store card. I'm not sure if the $10 card has been used or not.

Because I could get 5% off if I spent $20 with my Goodwill Card, and I was only one penny short, I threw in the next item.

I'm a huge Futurama fan (how is there not a Futurama-themed game BTW?)
so I was ecstatic to find a very cool Nibbler wind-up robot toy last night for $7.99, in awesomely good shape (winding key was still taped to the packaging!)

Finally the T-48 is mine. I hesitated last time and I missed out on this baby but this one is mine!! and it looks brand new.

What, you don't want a T-48 for your very own let alone know what one is? It is quite simply the best toaster ever made. and the coolest. No spring loaded handles and a violent ejection. This baby auto loads the bread. Its magical. and when its is done it just as magically returns the bread wonderously transformed into toast. Its 1365 Watts of bread toasting goodness.

I know what you are thinking. You have a T-35 and it makes toast just fine. Fie I say to you. Fie! The T-48 has everything the T-35 has and more.

Temperature controls. Cooking toast before was a karmic experience but not anymore. I now have control over my toastal destiny.

Total toastal control. and all for $10 measly dollars.

So we opened my Tiki bar this weekend; we cleaned everything up, I mounted all my masks, strung up my lights and had some cocktails. Today after dropping by the bank, I checked out the Treasure Trove consignment store. They are a bit higher, but a portion of the sales goes to help the hospital. No game finds, but they had 4 really cool items:

A 20 inch high by 9 inch wide Tiki mask! Great tan and brown color contrasts.

There also had what looks to be a Balinese decorative mask in bright red. Both will look great adorining the Tiki bar space. $12 for each one.

For another $12, I got some walnut snack plates that have a recessed cork area for drinks. Excellent shape and made in Japan. THey are not even rectangular, but have that wonderful mid-century curve concave sides so the points of the "rectangle" feel atomic in nature.

And lastly, two book ends with some wooden mid-century cats as decoration; $7. My wife liked them...

This is my first post of a NON-game thrift store find. It was so unusual that I couldn't pass it up. Today I came across a 1964 45 RPM record of the AstroBoy soundtrack from the old cartoon. It was only $1.99 and seemed to be in excellent condition so I picked it up to see what it would bring on eBay. There is currently a different AstroBoy 45 on eBay for $14, so I think I'll do ok.

UPDATE: I should have posted this a few months ago when I sold it, but this little record actually ended up selling for $40! Woo-hoo!

Outside the front of the local Goodwill is a barrel that they take out each day to display misc. golf clubs, baseball bats, fishing poles, etc. in. I normally give it a passing glance as I go inside, but today some shiny bits caught my attention.

The shiny bits were several Drivers that looked to be almost brand new. Hardly a mark on them. At $3.50 apiece I grabbed three of them. I figured I could try them all out and keep the one I like best and sell the other two to cover my costs and then some.

Turns out the clubs are knockoffs of brand name clubs. Couldn't find much info on them other than one was a knockoff of a Taylor Made R580. It's labeled Turbo Power 588xp. The other two are Tour Model 405 titanium.

Hopefully I can get a few bucks out of them anyways.

I got some really cool stuff today on my way to reserves;

First a Leilani Tiki mug (printed Orchids of Hawaii Japan on the bottom) for $1.41 at Value Village.

At Village thrift got a little bag of stuff, but primarily for the unopened Lego car set. Normally it would be $5, but less than $2 ($1.90) seemed like a good deal.

At the Salvation Army Store in Waldorf, I got this Danish looking designed ceramic cat for my wife's collection in brown and white, but it has '78 Hawaii on the bottom, so a Tiki Kitty!

And the piece de resistance! A 12 inch high wooden Tiki idol for $5. He should ward off the demons!
