A few years ago, I started buying prepainted Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures with the intent to use them for Dungeon Bash. It turned out they're quite useful in other games too. Over the years I have accumulated some 900 miniatures, and I figured I could share examples of how I use them for different games.

This one is a no-brainer, eh? It's a fun little skirmish game, but it took more than a year from when I started buying these minis to when I constructed my first warbands and actually tried the game with an opponent.

When we play, we use the DDM1 rule set. Might switch to 2.0 in the future, but considering how rarely we play it might not be worth the hassle. Most of my minis can be used with DDM1 and switching would mean I'd have to print reference cards for DDM2.

The PnP dungeon crawler I blame for getting me into collecting DDM minis. It's rarely played nowadays, as I prefer Warhammer Quest. Dungeon Bash was simply too fiddly and too much like D&D... which isn't much of a surprise as the D&D rules are used. =)

Here's a close up from one session:

Me and my cousin have had a hankering for a really nice dungeon crawl and I stumbled over Warhammer Quest in 2009. I had always dismissed it as the lame little brother to Hero Quest. Little did I know that it would be one of my favourite games! =)

Since I already had most of the miniatures for it, I decided to build my own set instead of getting hold of one second hand. You can see images of it here in my geeklist of DIY games I've made.

Here's a group shot of all the minis I've used for the base set. In addition to that, I have two large plastic tubs with carefully chosen and sorted miniatures for the advanced campaign game.

This game convinced me that some minis just need to be re-painted, as they were too dull to use as a character mini. Here's my first ever DDM repaint; Bonded Fire Summoner:

The Mrs enjoys Hero Quest with me, but not Warhammer Quest. Thus I put together a roster of replacement miniatures for not only Hero Quest, but also all the expansions. When I get around to it, I'll share it here on BGG.

This is the most recent addition to the list. I just could not resist the opportunity of playing a skirmish game with campaign rules where I already had more than enough miniatures and the only investment was $5 for the rules in PDF format, and $35 for a nice battle mat.

While my Mrs don't enjoy this type of games, she's helped me with terrain building! =)

I will post images of our games when it's a bit more representative than white terrain on a green blanket! =D Also, I've decided to touch up and properly base all minis I use in my war bands. Two minis done so far, pics will come when the glossy sealer is coated with a dull layer.
