Been nearly six months or so since I last looked at what is on my hot list in GeekList fashion.

Here's the last issue: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/37730

And on to the hotness!

Pretty much only on my hotlist because I got the urge to play this again, and it's summer, the kids are out of school, and so there's time to get in a game of this beast. We've played a game of this for three of the last four summer's now, and this is the year my now 12-year old son doesn't win!

And I'm trying to get a PBEM game of this going as well.

Now here's an interesting case. I was never really even remotely interested in 18xx. Then I made a huge thrift store find, which included 1835 and 2038. I sold off 1835 within like three days, and then read the rules to 2038. After this, and a bit of research, decided that yes, this seems like a system I could get into. And so I went out and got 1856 at a FLGS that still had a copy. Played a game of it via email and had fun even though I got ROFLstomped.

And then I remembered how I had thrifted a copy of 1830 once, and felt pretty good about having sold it, even though it was water-damaged, for $100. I wasn't going to pay that much for a game I wouldn't get to play very often, so I was sad.

Then I found a used copy in another FLGS for $50 and snapped it up. I think thematically, 2038 seems more interesting, but gotta have one of the progenitors of the series on here before I can put 2038 on here. After I've played this one, 2038 will take its place I think.

Got my son a fortress set for his birthday, and that started the whole heroscape thing again. Damned Tundra is too pricey

Got another fortress and a jungle set, as well as some wave sets I had missed.

My first non-dead CCG/TCG/LCG. I really like the mechanics of this game. However, the meta so far, has appeared to be totally out of whack. My son has been playing a Cthulhu/Hastur deck, (although he has switched out the Hastur part with Syndicate and Yog at one time or another), and so far I am 1-15 against him, using a variety of Shub/Misk/Agency/Syndicate. I just can't even come close to beating this deck, and it's making me not want to even bother. But a new LCG pack should be in the store soon, so hope springs eternal.

This one is still haning around. Really haven't gotten in enough plays with Brood War to satisfy me, so it stays on the list.

Snagged a few of these in my thrifting rounds, and while I haven't put any of these into any of my decks yet, the thought of doing so has kept this in the hot list.

The online site has seen me playing a ton of this, and while I might be starting to get a bit burned out on it, the soon to be available expansion should keep this firmly entrenched for a while yet.

This is still hanging on the list, mostly because I don't have naything to replace it with. Unhappy King Charles did for a bit, but I didn't seem to "get" recruitment, and got spanked, which took the shine off that one for a bit. I got massively spanked in my one game of this, (all due to poor card draws and lucky opponent general placements I might add), but still want to try again.

I did thrift a One Ring recently, and that, and some of the other stuff I thrifted, keeps this one on the list. Cthulhu has take over most of the CCGing round these parts lately, but I enjoy playing this so much, I can't get it off of here.

And rounding out the hot 10 is the Harry Potter TCG. I got the Twin Trouble and Percy Potions theme decks recently, as well as a box of boosters, and I enjoy playing this with my kids. Healing and potions cards are totally overpowered IMO, but it's still a fun, quick-playing little CCG.
