A quick rundown of the games played at the August meeting. Hopefully Alvin will add scores and finishing positions for the players.

There were 5 of us, Mike, Dan, Alvin, Dion, and Brendan.

Mike, Dan and Brendan started out with Dominion as a shortish filler, hoping that more people would turn up.

It was a random setup and we had 5 5-cost cards, so it was a bit slow to start with. Alvin turned up after 10 minutes, so we dealt him in with a few extra cards.

I think Dan ended up winning, though Alvin did well as well. I made 21 points, which is some sort of record for me.

Dion turned up by the time Dominion finished, so we were looking for a 5 player. Sadly Railroad Tycoon and Princes of Florence got minimal support and Small World was agreed upon.

The initial selection was not great, so 5 bribes ended up on the Human/Merchants at #1. I was lucky as Ghouls came up ass first replacement, so I snaffled them for five bribes. Unfortunately Dion went into immediate decline, even though he had Amazons, so I missed out on the Humans. Don't worry kiddies, I made him pay as my bivouacking ratmen crushed his Humans into the dust of time.

Unfortunately, this left me somewhat exposed as the leading player for most of the game and a weak last turn saw Dan sneak home by 1 point in a pretty close finish.

Alvin had to go soon after lunch, so we needed a filler type game while we waited for the Pizza.

After much confusion and double crossing, I ground out a good win over Alvin. My final play was very satisfying, adding a winning card to one stack and at the same time revealing my Explorer which finished off (and won) the next stack and also the round!

Alvin took some consolation from the fact that he would not have lost by as much, if only he had won some more treasures! Well duhhhhh!

After Alvin left Doin and I ganged up to force the always fascinating Louis XIV to the table.

Mike went last in the first turn and got a turn sequence modifying mission first up, so ended up going last or second last every turn :-(.

Dion showed some impressive skills, ending up with 18 Gold and some 15 odd VP chits, completely obliterating my lead in completed missions. I really do have to work some more VP chits into my game!

Dion left after Louis and I talked Mike into learning a 4th new game for the day. He was really a good sport about it, though I promise that they'll all hit the table again in the near future.

It turned out to be a bit of an instructional game, but I think Mike learned quite a lot and really did well in men and farms, 8/8. Next time he'll make sure he gets more of the associated bonus cards (not helped by three of them being the unplayed remnant of the card deck).

My usual tools/huts strategy lead to a pretty good win, though the scores were on the lowish side.
