Because of my recent purchase of GMT's Battle Line I have decided to make a Geeklist of games that have horrible card quality(and a seperate one for great card quality). Hopefully people will add to this list so there can be a nice and easy way to know what we are getting when we purchase card games.

This purchase is the reason I started this list. Utterly dissapointing.

These cards are -so- good that they're terrible. They're ultra glossy, cut all non-standard, and are too thick.

Oh, but don't worry, the game is terrible.

The cards in this first image were made from standard printer/xerox weight paper:

...and these were printed on slightly thicker perforated cardstock.

I do like the art on the gameboard though.

The cards for Long Shot are a reasonable size and thickness (or at least not too thin), and they are coated so they won't degrade too quickly, BUT...the cards have the same cloth like texture that a lot of boards and/or boxes do for euro-style games. The end result is that they are difficult to shuffle or otherwise manipulate as they don't slide free of one another very easily. A minor gripe to an otherwise good family game, but fitting to the subject.

A very unique and enjoyable game, but the card quality is very poor. The backs of many cards have a rough surface, as if something was spilled on them. The black edges of many cards were nicked when I opened the box.

The art work is incredible, the game play is fun, but the texture of the cards is hard to ignore.

The new FFG version is very...well, FF-ing bad. The first game I played (on a clean table, with me and one friend; both of us very careful handling games) resulted in 4 or 5 cards having "chips" where the white is visible. Un-FF-ingbelievable.

I think this game was manufactured in Tibet by bitter Tibetans trying to ruin the decent reputation China has earned manufacturing games. (Free Tibet!)

FFG, you got a big FAIL for this one.

This size viola da gamba is like a cello with frets. I started playing at age 48.

It seems odd that a game meant at least partly for children has flimsy cards that are easily bent. I fixed this with some heavy Magic-sized sleeves. A very good game, though.
