Some of us have a boardgame in the closet, and we're sure we hardly will play/replay it. But we cannot sell them... or we shouldn't. Please add the game you think one geek should never sell.

Should I keep this? I'm in doubt between selling my unpunched copy and keeping it for hopes of playing / adding value with time / collecting.

Sure I may never play it again, but on the off chance that I have a few minutes of nothing to do, I can pull out the rule book and disappear into the magic realm ...

mmm ... flowcharts ...

This one (and the Banzai! expansion): Why am I keeping this? I only played it a couple of times; and that was, like, over 12 years ago.

And yet, even today, it still seems like such a neat game, with such a cool concept, and some nice components. (Overly complex, though. And, yes, the rulebook sucks.) But I doubt I can find someone who's interested in playing it with me, nowadays. And I have lots of gaming buddies, some of whom are interested in wargames (albeit "lite" ones).

This one I still keep, even though it's been 15+ years since I played it last. This was my first "tile" game, and I thought (during the first years I had it) that it had such innovative and beautiful components, and that it was dripping with theme.

Perhaps this one I'm truly keeping for nostolgia value. My old buddies and I played this game during the first hours of my bachelor party, back when I was 20 years old and engaged to my first wife. (Were my old buddies and I gaming geeks, or what?!)

Nowadays, though I'm still very much interested in the subject matter, I'd much rather play this sort of game -- i.e. a game with this level of detail and complexity -- on the computer. I find it drudgery, nowadays, pushing around stacks of counters, and cross-referencing tables and charts, and doing all that mental calculating. So, why I am I still keeping this old chestnut?

I seriously doubt I will ever actually play this - every now and then I unpack the box, flip through the serious looking rulebooks, admire the beautifully painted maps, gaze at the scores of brightly coloured counters... then pack it all away again. Maybe when I start up a gaming club at the retirement home [Note to self: must remember to pack a magnifying glass into that game box ...]

Pretty much goes without saying, doesn't it? This classic should never be sold! (Well, maybe if I needed to raise cash to pay for Grandma's surgery... but even then I'd think twice about selling this game!

A superb, multiplayer card game. AS appeals to wargamers because of the theme and the information on the cards. It appeals to non-wargamers because of the player interaction and the many different ways the cards can be played. Grab a copy if you can, cause no more will ever be made.

I've loved LotR since first reading it in the 8th grade thirty years ago. I haven't played this game (or the folio sub-games) since at least 1980. The rules suck. It's virtually unplayable. It's huge. The SPI flat tray is so brittle it can only contain the million little cards and counters if it lays perfectly flat and still - kind of like grandma in a coma - so do I take her off the respirator?
