I had a game related experience this weekend just gone that made me very happy, but at the same time was quite disappointing. Have you had an experience like that to share with everyone?

I had this game back in the 80's. I liked it a lot, thought it was a great game. However I found it very hard to get to play. It's too complex for casual gamers’ to play and I had trouble getting a group of hard core gamers together to play it. In the mid 90's I did what seemed a sensible thing at the time, I sold it.

Forward to the current day. I am now part of a quite large games club. And there are plenty of people there who are not scared of complex games. So I got thinking about Mythology and if I could re-acquire it, I could now get to play it.

So I have been keeping my eye on ebay for the last couple of months. A copy came up but it went for more than I was willing to pay. Last week a copy came up for an amount I was willing to pay. And yesterday my new copy of Mythology arrived. (I know it was Sunday, it was hand delivered by the seller). Now I was delighted to get my hands on a copy and I am really looking forward to playing it.

BUT and there is one. The game was listed in very good condition. All I can say is that the seller and I have pretty different ideas of very good condition. He should see my near mint copies of 1830 and Civilization from the same time period. Pretty beat up but playable would have been my description.

So there you have it, delighted to have the game again, but pretty disappointed by its condition.

A simple enough story: We still have not beaten this game at the hard level, but the other day we survived until we had two cures and almost had a third. For us that was a victory, but still we remain sad that we haven't beaten the game. I guess you could say that we're also happy we haven't beaten the game, because once we beat it on hard we probably won't want to play as much!
