I realized the other night that I really like it when a game requires you to feed your meeples/cavemen/soldiers/whatever. Here's a list of games I can think of where you'd better have enough to go around. Please contribute others I've missed.

This is the game I was playing when I came to this realization. Here you need to gather food via fishing, foraging, hunting, planting crops, and raiding. Every turn you feed your little cavemen or they go extinct. I don't love the rest of this game so much but it spawned this list!

Gather grain from your provinces so that you have enough to feed your people over the winter. Come up short and your peasants will revolt. Both times I've played this, hungry peasants have kept me from winning.

Build your castles and farms next to grain producing land. If you are can't supply enough food to feed your citizens, they will emigrate away (possibly destroying other buildings). If a farm is destroyed in the process, it can mean even more starvation fun.

Guide your little amoebae through the primordial soup, gobbling up the excreted food left behind by other amoebae. Delicious. If your little guys don't eat their fill twice, it's death.

A bit of a stretch thematically, but feels similar to some other games on the list. And it's my current favorite game so maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to put it on the list! Here the food is natural resources (coal, oil, etc.), and you're feeding your power plants. If your plants "go hungry", they can't power any cities that turn.

Mammoth Hunters is completely based around food. If you can't get food to sustain the people, they die! The games scoring revolves around the mammoths which award extra points and sustain more people.

If you do not round up enough supplies (represented by barrels), your armies suffer attrition. But it's hard to grab barrels when you also need power and mustering points!

The basic mechanic here is keeping your bunnies fed so they don't die. Other players force you to "Feed the Bunny", and if you don't have cabbage and water cards, you're in trouble.
