This list is intended to be a chain, where each post is based on the requirements of the previous poster.

The rules are:

Each item has to be a serious recommendation of a game which the previous poster doesn’t own but might like. This can be according to criteria specified by the user in their post, or from looking through that user’s collection. It's important that the previous poster doesn't already own the game being recommended.

When posting a new item, please provide an explanation as to why the previous user might like the game. Go into as much detail as you like about what is good about it.

It would help enormously if you specify what type of game you’re looking for. Things like theme, duration and number of players would all help.

To get us started, I’m looking to buy a game which can play up to 6 people in about 60-90 minutes. I’m not looking for fillers, but a lighter game which could work for non-gamers.

So, can anyone make a recommendation?

Condottiere plays 2-6 in about an hour. It's accessible to non-gamers because it has the familiar feeling of cards, and it's broken up into hands - you can see how the game is progressing with each territory claimed. Everyone, even if they're not wanting or able to get a territory, can affect who does get a territory, and thus affect the game. There are only a few special cards to remember, and a cheat sheet could help with that. It's affordable, portable, and readily available.

I'm not looking for a game, but if anyone wants to recommend one, feel free.

You are looking for a game that will run 60 - 90 minutes, is not a filler, will accomodate up to 6 players and will interest non-gamers?

I think that game is Long Shot.

Long Shot plays up to 8, and I've had some of my best games with a mixture of serious gamers and people that would never game. The theme is accessible to all (and fun). Try a night at the track with Long Shot.

The game I seek -

I like new games. I haven't really looked at the Essen releases yet, but I'm interested to get a thoughtful suggestion regarding a game I might like. I enjoy games that are fun (my friends would argue I just don't like to think too hard). Agricola and LeHavre are two of my favorite more complex games, along with Power Grid.

I also like a game that may be played with my children (10 and 7) - but note that I play all of the above mentioned plus Finca and Dominion regularly with my children.

So - put your finger in the wind - what is going to be my must-have Essen game of 2009?

Addendum - I answered simultaneously with Ms. Indigo, and since she doesn't own Long Shot, I'm going to let this entry stand.
