Most gamers have had it happen to them. One day they are walking or driving along minding their own business when disaster threatens. A random tsunami strikes their landlocked location. A zombie apocalypse arises from the nearest town. A gang turf war breaks out just as they trying to buy a bagel. This geeklist is not about those events, however, but is about times when one of the games in your collection saved your life during one of these events. Share your story with the world so that we may honor these stories of board game heroism!

My story began three nights ago as I was walking home from my local game store. It was dark, yes, and late, but the part of town that I was walking through was pretty safe so I thought nothing of it, at least until automatic weapon fire broke out. Apparently an Uzi-wielding madman had decided to take shots at random passersby and I was one of his targets. I quickly rushed for cover as a wave of bullets was unleashed in my direction and was able to duck behind a building just in time.

It wasn’t until I got home that I noticed a pair of holes in my backpack. Investigating further I found that my copy of Agricola had taken two bullet wounds, though the tightly compressed wood had prevented the bullets from hitting me. Yes, my copy of Agricola took not one but two bullets for me and probably saved my life. For this, Agricola, you are honored!

Ironically enough, this game once saved me from a vampire attack. He choked to death on the Mina Harker figure.
