There have been a lot of posts about rating the collection of the poster before you, giving a game to the poster before you, stealing a game from the poster before you etc, but none the other way.

so lets go the other way, rate the collection of the poster after you. it takes a bit more work, write a place holder. the person in front of you can then rate you while you wait for a volunteer to be rated.

The BIG difference here is that you choose who rates you rather than the other way round.

This could be hugely popular or an absolute disaster, but here we go any way.

Brave man Tommy, 1st to go.

As soon as I saw it was you I knew it was going to be a challenge to rate your collection. Although a very familiar face on the geek I know you’re not into the cult of the new.

As expected very few recent releases and to be fair quite a few games I am not familiar with.

Of the ones I was familiar with there were a few I don't like, Battleship does anyone over 10 really play this? Killer Bunnies, I think you have mentioned how funny you find this, but I must go with the majority and not get the joke. Tigris and Euphrates, the game I most dislike in the top 100, but to be fair a game that divides a lot of people.

Of the games I like though you do have one of my very favourite games, Stone Age, simple and elegant always a joy to play. You also have Thurn and Taxis, a game that although it's in the top 200 I think is underrated, maybe not a top 10 game but it should be in the top 50. You also have my favourite Ticket to ride.

Tommy I am afraid I will have to rate it a 6 overall, but if I knew all the games it might be higher.

I had a feeling that before looking I would probably give a rating somewhere around there. I always find your posts interesting, but I had read enough to know we would differ quite a bit in taste. At least you are original and don't follow the sheep.

My biggest criticism is Rokkr's generosity: 361 games rated, and almost 40% of those rate an 8 or better. Only 15% get below a 6. With numbers like that, I find it harder to judge how much you like what you like.

You like CCGs, and I've never had the pleasure. Watching M:TG at my FLGS makes me want to not play, but that could be the fantasy theme as much as anything.

In your top games (9.5-10), there's nothing I wouldn't play, and several I very much want to try (Netrunner, Union Pacific, Brass, Power Grid).

Among your 9s the situation is much the same. We agree on Goa, I see.

From 8-8.9 we disagree only on RftG, and even then not so much. One of the best things about the BGG ratings is that they're so personal: a 10 doesn't mean "best game ever," it means "I always want to play it." Me. No one else. In that respect, my 3 & your 8.5 for Race do not conflict: you just want to play it a whole lot more than I do.

Around 8, things get a little murky, what with so many games: how much more do you like Medici than The Downfall of Pompeii, for example?

We agree on many games, and your collection is pretty huge. I guess my second criticism then is size: almost half your collection is unplayed, and there's lots of dreck to cull (3 trivial pursuits?!?)

In the spirit of your own ratings, you get an 8.

Ok, here goes.

Beau has a mixed bag of the sublime and the slime.

Indonesia, but also Munchkin?
Multiple personality disorder perhaps Beau? Or is it Howard today?

The bad:
I've already mentioned the truly hideous, Munchkin. Now for the technically hideous, ASL.
I love complex games, but this one is a headache in a box.

You also seem to love games that substitute miniatures for imagination. Heroquest, Descent, Space Hulk, these are all role playing for the imagination impaired.

Cash & Guns, Bang!
I suppose I'm not fond of these because I'm rarely drunk.

Dominion! I've talked way too much about this deplorable excuse for a game lately.

The good:
Some absolutely bedrock euros. Power Grid, the aforementioned Indonesia, Agricola, Ra and Princes of Florence.

And my personal tribute to chaos, Roborally.

My advice is to get therapy and get rid of Howard the nerd and George the general and just be you Beau!

Overall out of 10

Paulo has a very large collection. They have a fairly varied scope of styles and mechanics. There are many that are definitely high on my play list.

He seems to favor heavy economic games, which I only have limited experience in playing. I am eager to try out this area, but haven't had a chance to play any of the games in that area.

As for something to add, I notice Paulo has a few wargames but many are unrated. I would recommend Combat Commander to fill this slot. He seems to favor card driven games when there is war involved, so I think this would mesh nicely with this preference, but also expand the scope of his games.

Overall, I really like his collection, but it has a few too many very dry euros for my taste (T&E and Samurai shake).

I would give it 8 out of 10 stars. A very solid showing and with a few more ameritrash or wargames could easily be a 10 star collection.

Let's just see how it goes...

LoMa has a small colection. Antiquity is the pearl on this colection and maybe my favorite. Too much Carcassonne for my tastes and also too much fantasy themed games.

It lacks some economic games like Brass or Imperial since the euro normal stuff is granted by Caylus, Puerto Rico, Notre Dame and Castle for all Seasons among others.

I would recomend a strong two player card driven game like Twilight Struggle or 1960 and also a solid train game different than R. Tycoon, maybe Steam or even a simpler 18xx like Steam Over Holland.

For kids there's Hey that's my fish but maybe Pickomino or Chateux Roquefort would work as different proposals.

Overall, a good eurogame colection with some of the main titles, a good civ game like Through the Ages, but it lacks the meaty themed stuff like Imperial, Brass or even Agricola.

I would rate it a 6

Astrofred has a collection that's not too much bigger than mine (71 games vs. my 46 games), and has some things in common and lots more that's not!

He has a few older-school war games, like several editions of Axis & Allies, and several CCG and ameritrash titles like Space Hulk (third edition), Star Wars and Star Trek games and CCG's, various editions of Risk including a Lord of the Rings one, and Blood Bowl (Third Edition) - these are NOT my genres, so it's hard for me to rate them. What I think is interesting about his games especially in the ameritrash area, is that they run the gamut in age and popularity - he's been at this for quite a while I'd guess, and he digs the fantasy and science fiction thing. Some of the older titles are for trade which I assume means that he has tired of them. I wonder if he still plays the older titles that are not up for trade.

Astrofred also has a lot of abstract games such as checkers and various chess titles, several GIPF games, and DVONN - this is a genre I really dislike - these may be deep games but they lack breadth for me so I find them pretty boring. These titles make me wonder if he'd like El Grande though - an area control game with a very abstract feel to it, that's deep rather than broad in complexity.

Then there's quite a list of classic euros such as the Settlers series and Carcassonne with its many expansions, all of which are rated highly. I do have Carc and some expansions, but I definitely do not love them (I rated them 6.5 and this should go lower since I really don;t have a desire to play them) while Fred rates them 9, and Settlers a 10 - I really don;t care for Settlers to be honest.

He also has standards like Puerto Rico (which I like), Agricola (which I don;t care for), and Power Grid (which I've never played), but these are all respected anf highly rated titles in the euro genre.

Based on his high rating of Power Grid (an 8), he might want to try some other railroad/network type games like Railways of the World when it comes out, for a middle of the road game in terms of heaviness and rather more theme. For a light family game, try out Ticket to Ride: Europe, a better game than plain Ticket to Ride (which is on Fred's want to buy list).

As companions pieces to Agricola, some other worker placement games with very differnt flaovrs to try are Caylus which is tight and compact, in my opinion, with a solid sense of progression. When I play Agricola, on the other hand, I feel tense and frustrated for some reason and somehow claustrophobic... I guess I prefer being a medieval real estate developer to being a farmer... Caylus also doesn't have the luck of the draw element of Agricola - I like perfect information games where the only thing hidden from players is what's in their opponents' heads... On the lighter and quicker-playing side, there's also A Castle for All Seasons, which also offers real estate development of a sort with several avenues to victory. It's had a high replay value for my family. I'm also interested in trying out Endeavor - maybe Fred would too! This one is colonial exploitation rather than farm expansion or real estate development...

I don;t see any euro titles heavier than than Agricola, Puerto Rico, or Power Grid, and I am tending towards the heavier stuff these days, like Antiquity and Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization. Not sure if these would appeal to Fred - they have much longer playing times than average and many folks consider them fiddly.

I wish I were into the ameritrash thing so I could suggest some expansion there, but all I can come up with are titles that are on the euro side of this realm. I don;t see any coop games other than Red November on Fred's list and it might be cool to try some others out - Lord of the Rings or Shadows over Camelot - it's true these games can feel rather scripted, but they can be a lot of fun if they're not over-played and you're with the right group that's into hamming things up a bit.

Helden in der Unterwelt is my favorite game in the fantasy genre, in which you build the underworld around you as the game progresses, avoiding and/or using dark shadow experience to win the game, but this game is unforutantely very hard to find. It is in the Return of the Heroes series and is the best of the lot, but the Return of the Heroes base game is pretty fun too and much easier to find.

Small World is a well-themed fantasy type majority control game with some nice conflict to it, even though it has a euro feel - I think it could be interesting to our Astrofred!

There's a sci-fi title that also might appeal to Fred that sounds so interesting to me that I pre-ordered it - it's Omega Centauri - kind of a sci-fi civ-ish game with a short playing time. Might be worth checking out.

I'm a real dud when it comes to war games, but Fred doesn't appear to be a groggie... But with the sci-fi interest and the lighter war games in his collection, Nexus Ops might be an option.

Well, Fred and I are pretty different gamers, but I'd be happy to play a game of Puertp Rico with him and maybe learn to play Power Grid. Hey, come on over and try Ascendancey when I get it!

So how would I rate this collection that's not really up my alley, but one which exhibits continued long time interests and some definite branching out with BGG top 10 new and relatively recent games ranging from Agricola to Space Hulk (third edition) - it's pretty hard... I'd rate it a 6 for me - some interest and challenge. My rating would go quite higher if he added games like Ascendancy to it, which maybe would make him curious about Through the Ages. And hey, add Caylus or Endeavor to the mix too.

Hopefully Fred's collection is at least an 8 for him though!

First thing I notice about leethegr8 is that he's rated nearly all of his games. All but two, and one of them is an expansion. I would guess that means that he has actually played all of his games in his collection. I think that's amazing considering that I have games in my collection that I still haven't played after owning them for years. And yet I am still buying new games. Also, leethegr8's collection is larger than mine by about 30 games. My hats off to you, leethegr8.

I also noticed right away that he has Axis & Allies. I am a big fan of the older version of Axis & Allies which I have played quite a bit, and I also own Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition which I have yet to play. But leethegr8 also owns Axis & Allies: Battle of the Bulge, Axis & Allies: D-Day, and Axis & Allies: Pacific, which I think makes him more of a fan of A&A than myself. I really enjoy playing A&A and I am happy to see another fan of the game. Other than A&A, I don't see any war games in leethegr8's collection. leethegr8 apparently not a fan of "heavy" war games, but I am not either, so that's okay with me.

Our game collections also overlap in other places. We both have euro-classics like Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, Catan, and Power Grid. leethegr8 rates Power Grid an 8, the same rating I gave it, so I am sure we would enjoy playing PG together. We also both own Agricola which I have not yet played. In addition, leethegr8 has at least a dozen other games that I have on my wishlist. I can see my collection looking more like leethegr8's collection a few years from now.

leethegr8 has three games that he rates a 10: Titan, Twilight Imperium (Third Edition), and Die Macher. I haven't played any of these three games, but obviously leethegr8 enjoys spending an entire evening playing just one game. Although his collection has games of all lengths. If you want a quick game, there is For Sale or Unnamed Object. leethegr8's lowest rated game is Ticket to Ride which he gives a 3.5, and he rates Ticket to Ride: Europe a 5. Really? I have only played TTR once but for me, it is on my must buy list. However, leethegr8's game collection is highly refined. Other than Mastermind, there are no classic (ameritrash) board games. I guess after discovering Axis & Allies, he must have given his old Risk game to charity.

For me, the only lack in leethegr8's game collection is that there is no 2-player abstracts. I like 2-player abstracts, but I realize that not everyone enjoys these types of games.

All in all, I think leethegr8 has an exceptional collection. He has a lot of solid, time-tested games of varying length and complexity. 9.5/10

Wow what a collection! You have many games I love, Agricola, El Grande, Kingsburg and Citadels, also rated very high. Agricola in at a 10 was good to see, I don't have it that high but it's close.
I've never played Magic, so no comment.
The only thing I can say about your highly rated games is I really don't like Ticket to Ride as much as you, maybe you're better at it then I, but I really thought you and I had something in common untill I seen it so high on your list, I can live with it if you can.
Blue Moon City and Caylus are great games, but what are you thinking giving Blokus an 8.5, again i'll try to look over this inperfection.
Always wanted to try Arkham Horror, I hear it's awesome
Apples to Apples has got to go, nothing lighter fluid and a match couldn't fix.
Smallworld and Pandemic are also great games.
Like you the Settlers card game can go in the trash, but for some reason I own all but two Munchkin expantions, I think if I can look past Apples to Apples and Blokus you can do the same for me.
You have many games I've never played so I really can't comment on them, i'd love to have your collection, all I have to do is add Galaxy Trucker and Twilight Imperium and I'd be set.
8.75/10
hope I didn't hurt your feeling too much.
Thanks

Going through Tim's collection, I see many things I enjoy: Agricola, Arkham Horror, Pandemic, Mr Jack, Settlers (the gateway game for both of us) and many others. Many of his games aren't rated, so I'm sure whether he really enjoys all of his games (200+ in his collection) or whether he has a bit of the pack rat instinct.

I also find many games I'm interested in trying but have never played on his list, such as Container, Descent and Railroad Tycoon.

There are a lot of games I'm simply not familiar with, but as he's spent 6 years building his library I'd bet he's pretty satisfied with his collection. If he were local, no doubt we'd have many game nights. Based on my gut feeling and the games I do know from his list, I'd rate his collection a 9/10.

Checking out Jon's collection was a real treat. With over 700 games, it does not leave much to be desired. In fact, I think that I could fulfill most of my wishlist from his collection.

In particular, Jon has...

Plenty of train games
Lots of Martin Wallace games
Some Splotter games
Great economic games (Container & Power Grid + exp to name a few)
Tons of theme (Runebound, Last Night on Earth) AND
A nice scattering of fillers and both light and medium euros

Overall, this is a fantastically balanced collection, full of games to satisfy any kind of gaming desire. I have to give it a 10.

Geek of the Week #106 has a fantastic collection, and rates a good portion of it. Moreover, his comments are mini-reviews, AND he even goes back from time to time and updates (complete w/ timestamps) them.

For example, his comments for Doom: The Boardgame (an overlooked gem, IMHO) include the following:

Quote:
... Abstract ...__________[]...Themed .....
......... Luck ..._____[]_____... Skill ...........
...... Simple ..._______[]___... Complex ...
.. Strategic ...______[]____... Tactical ....
.... Friendly ..._________[]_... Cutthroat ..
....... Fiddly ...____[]______... Elegant .....

Graphics: 9
Packaging: 7
Components: 10
Rules: 10
Fun Factor: 10
OVERALL RATING: 10
Rating Date: 12/21/08
Rating History/Dates N/A

Holy crap...what more could you ask for? He even has "Fun Factor" included, which is all-too-often ignored in reviews.

OK, enough about the data on his collection. Let's look at the games themselves. Given that he has nearly 800 games, it's gonna be difficult to rate the whole thing. So, I'll make an arbitrary list of a handful of games, and see how many of those are included in his collection. Let's see...

Dominion: Intrigue - No. Not even the base game! But he does have the two promo cards...odd.
RoboRally - Oh, yeah. Plus ALL the expansions. Color me jealous.
Magic: The Gathering - Yup. At least, he has some sort of starter set to try it out.
Torres - Check.
Tichu - Missing. Rectify this situation immediately, before Derk notices.
Twilight Imperium (Third Edition) - No, but he does have the first edition and all the expansions. I didn't even know Twilight Imperium: Twilight Armada existed. Nice.
Roads & Boats - Nope. Mind you, this one is a bit harder to come by (and play) than some of the others on this list.
Tigris & Euphrates - Yes. But not rated. His comment? "I love Reiner...I hate trying to read these rules. Someone teach me how to play this game!" If you can make it to BGG.Con, I'll gladly do so. This one's another classic that I think you'll love.
Hamsterrolle - Nope. If you like dexterity games at all, you gotta try this one.
Vegas Showdown - Yup.
Age of Steam - Yes, and the first four expansions. Very nice.
Kriegbot - A relatively obscure hex-based multiplayer light wargame? I'm not really surprised this one isn't in his collection (but it IS worth checking out, if the theme intrigues you...).
Arkadia - Check, but unplayed. Rectify this post haste!
Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization - No.
Arkham Horror - Yup. His comment (that he first played with 7 players and was horribly disappointed) match my first experience with this one. Lucky for him, he tried it again, with fewer players, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Alas, I did not, so AH remains on my "must try again" list.
Bonaparte at Marengo - Missing from his (and my) collection.
Château Roquefort - Nope. I highly recommend trying this one out. A great intro to "action point" games, with top-notch components.
Liar's Dice - He's sadly missing this classic closer as well.
Heroscape Master Set: Rise of the Valkyrie - Plus some expansions. Check.
Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game - And the Growing Hunger expansion. Confirmed.

So he's missing 8 out of 20, which would give us a raw score of 6 (out of 10). However, given the 782 OTHER games in his collection (including quite a few I haven't even heard of, let alone own), I feel comfortable ratcheting that rating up to a 9.0.

First of all, Mike's collection is rated on a custom scale of his own and he basically gives games a rating of 1-3 (or 3,6 & 9 in BGG terms). This makes it difficult to see what his actual single favorite game or games are, but I can see the basic trends of what he likes and doesn't like.

Mike games to the roll of a different Dice Tower than most of us and you have to respect a guy for that. Of the 15 games he owns and that he's rated a "9" (which is a "3" on his scale), there isn't a single game in the BGG Top 10. The game he owns with the highest BGG rating in this group of "3"'s is Battle Line - which I would agree is a good game, but it wouldn't make the top of my list. However, I can't really tell if it is one of his favorites - it's just is an observation I made.

Mike's collection is very unique - as far as I could tell, the FIRST game that he owns that is in the Top 100 is Carcassonne, currently ranked at #66. From what I can glean, I'd say that Mike also is somewhat of a wargamer - but he's an obscure wargamer as I don't see anything really mainstream there either (heavy or light) - no Combat Commander, no ASL, no Twilight Struggle, No Twilight Imperium, no Paths of Glory ect..

Ah... here we go... reading his profile fills me in on what he likes.

Favourite Wargame Eras and Theatres:
Ancient Naval, Ancient Britain, Medieval Europe, 19th Century Naval, ACW Naval, WWI Naval, WWI Air, WWII Norway, WWII Atlantic and Arctic Convoys, WWII Alaska.

My favourite themes: nautical, ancient, prehistoric, animals, civ-lite, print 'n' play, wargames, exploration

My favourtie mechanics: tile placement, modular boards, hex-and-counter postcards, CRT's

My least favourite themes:
zombies & vampires (though not specifically horror),
religious,
religious horror,
party games,
collectible components
pre-painted plastic minis

My least favourtie mechanics:

variable player powers,
dice rolling in solo games

Seeing that you are a big Naval fanatic (though no FANTASY naval theme is mentioned! ) I'd say you are lacking one of the all-time best naval games - Wooden Ships & Iron Men. I think you'd enjoy Taluva as well (Tile, Placement, Modular board, Civ-Lite)

Overall, I would venture to guess that Mike's collection is not something the majority of BGG'ers would consider to be mainstream in any way. He dislikes (rated but not owned) many of the most popular games out there - including several that I have on my Top Ten! However, a game collection is a very personal thing and if it contains the games that you enjoy most and it suits you - and I really think it does in Mike's case, then who is anyone else to say otherwise?

For me personally, his collection would not rank high as I am indeed one that loves most of the themes and mechanics he dislikes - but for Mike himself, I'd rate it an 8. There are still some obvious games that he needs to get that fit his genres, themes and other preferences, but he already has much that he enjoys and isn't that what gaming is about?

Be nice now.

Now, who shall fall under my watchful eye...

Dear xaqar,

PROS:
Fascinating, such a high rating for Fresh Fish. Makes you stand out a little...
Ah, I see your lowest rated games are up for trade. Very smart.
I've played... only 17 games in your collection. So what the heck do I know?

CONS:
I've heard of most of your games. No suprises. Tsk.
Hmm... all those Battlelores owned, but only the starter set rated?
For that matter, about what, 32% of your collection is unrated?

You seem to be happy to follow the crowd. Good for you!

But you wouldn't like game night at my place.

Mr. Fingers:

I like your collection! It seems to be assembled with care and nearly every game seems to be something you really enjoy.

Everything in your collection that I've played that's not in my collection would be something that I would consider adding.

Highlights:

Evo - have never gotten a chance to play this one, and have always wanted to.

Gulo Gulo - My 3 year old loves this one, and it's actually fun to play with him. Wish there was a grown-up version of this one so I could use it as a filler.

Memoir 44 - I just acquired Battlelore and I'm loving it because my wife will play it as well. And I'm anxiously awaiting my 3 year old son being old enough to play!

Power Grid - Glad to see you loving this one as well.

Negative:

Username - I can't get the thought out of my head of all of your games being covered with horrible fingerprints!

Suggestion:

You don't own Ra? You seem to enjoy games with good bidding mechanisms, and Ra is my favorite for bidding without fluff. Easy to teach, and has a great learning curve. People play through about half of the first game stumbling around blindly, catch on near the end, and then immediately want to play again!

Yes, J.L. - I couldn't get someone easy with like, say, 20 games, could I?

OK - before even looking at your collection, I'm going to check my pre-judgment of yours...I sense you're more of a wargamer than I am, and potentially a little older than I am (so your tastes may skew even more old-school than mine).

OK - on to the collection (almost live-blogging this)...

No Age of Steam...he he he...auto demerit cool

Wow - APBA, Statis Pro, Dynasty League and Strat-O-Matic baseball - ok, the demerit is returned.

Lots of wargames - old AH style; a lot of ASL stuff...my initial assessment is pretty spot on.

And, lots of filler - Battle of the Bands, etc.

Interesting - both Dominion promo cards; but not Dominion itself...I have one like you in my group

OK..overall, slightly more war-like than I'd normally play, but I could make do - I see a lot of myself - the compulsion to get "everything" (MLB Showdown, M44, Killer Bunnies, Formula De, Munchkin - thankfully, I played Killer Bunnies before buying all the games, and I learned it wasn't my style). Also, I like the C&C system, but I prefer Battlelore to M44...

So, in a nutshell - not enough 'train games' for me, and a little more war than I'd prefer; but also a lot of things I'd love to get my hands on (Speed Circuit accessory packs) - and, nearly 1000 games, so there'd definitely always be something for me to play.

If I consider my own collection a 10, this is damned close - maybe 9.8 (if it has to be whole numbers, I'd go with 10 as compared to 9).

Interesting that no games are rated - obviously it's a conscious choice; is it something you're going to "get to?" or something you will never be doing?

Okay, Chris. You get me, someone with a collection almost as large as yours!

Jason, you have a very small collection by most standards. That said, you have a good range of Euros, traditional family games, light wargames, even a few classics.

You have a great start to a fine collection. You just need to add the quantity to the quality.

Hi Niall,
You seem to have good exposure to the top 10. Being a newcomer, I have heard of the four games you rate a 10, but don't know really that much about them. But, it motivates me to put them on my to-investigate list. Power Grid is one high on my wish list, so it is good to see a high rating from you. I was surprised to see Puerto Rico ranked so low, but I understand people like different things. I didn't see Die Macher, so that is what I would humbly recommend if you are at all interested in complex election themed games. I don't feel qualified to give any kind of rating, but these are my comments. It was fun perusing your collection.

Well Luke

That is an interesting collection you have there. Your designer hat and love of sports show strongly through in your collection. What I like is that, despite the high sports content and the relative size (compared to some) of your collection, you seem to have a great variety of weight/game length/number of player options. You collection is also not full of the BGG top 100 or hot new games, your house would offer something new to play to almost all gamers.

In terms of a rating, I giving you a 9/10. With the collection you could entertain almost everyone with a game, hard core or non gamer alike. The sports element is quirky and ands individuality against the group think of lots of collections.

Good luck with the game designs and don't sweat the kid think, it's just a different sort of life.

GREAT SCOTT!

234 "games" owned.
55 "exxxxxpansions" owned.

I see a chunk of Age of Steam devotion, pretty much every single Axis and Allies game in existance along with some that probably aren't, a healthy Carcassonne obsession, expanions for a Lord of the Rings game he only rates as average, a chunk of Catan and a ten rated Twilight Struggle (you beauty).
If it was my collection I'd feel is was missing some of my personally loved games but as a general collection is carries a lot of weight and variety so it's impossible to rate it lowly. He even has plenty of short fillers for that fun little itch.
Good work fella.
I salute you.

Right in your profile I see you are an A&A aficionado so well done right off the bat. I too have played quite a bit of MtG over the years, getting out of and back in twice before finally escaping. I do see that the next set will have slivers though. Mmmmmm slivers. whistle I also got into Warhammer at one point, but the fantasy side and also Epic 40k. I count myself fortunate to have escaped that as well, I hated painting. yuk I got into Mage Knight slightly but it never took for real.

Now for your games - 210 games and 30 expansions owned.

A nice big helping of AoS. A disappointing amount of A&A considering your profile though. You do seem to have a variety of games that are miniatures games or mini's based which seems a natural fit for you. You also seem to have a preference for rpg like games such as Arkham Horror and LNOE. A healthy group of Euros, I'll even forgive your opinion of T&E. With a much heavier dose of abstract than I would care for. We do have a fair overlap of games but in some cases varying opinions of them, including you having several games I like up for trade. I do envy that you have played Dune.

Your expansions seem to focus around AoS, Arkham Horror, and Power Grid all choices I can respect.

You may want to consider looking at some CDGs, I think you might like them.

A nice collections that is well focused on your profile. We have some difference but I think we could sit down and game. Good job.

EDIT: I just noticed that you were a Geek of the Week congrats!

EDIT #2: Since it was mentioned by someone further on in the list I went back and ran the BGG Corelation Tool for us and we scored a Correlation: 0.47

Hi Davido-

You've given a 10 for your El Grande! Ahhhh, we're off to a great start!

I love that game. Seeing a 10 there had me believe we might have some similar tastes, and I'm not far off. Besides El Grande, you got some classics I love, like AoE III, Ra, San Juan. Tikal, a game close to my heart which you gave an 8.5. Also you've got a Talisman package that makes me drool.

You've got and given Railroad Tycoon a 10. A great game with awesome components. But I see you don't have or have rated Age of Steam, yet. I think you might really like that one if RR Tycoon is a 10 for you.

I totally don't fully understand high ratings for Power Grid and Cosmic Encounter here. But I know I am largely alone in not feeling the love on those, so I can't hold that against you. You have a lot of classics like Catan and Carc titles. While I respect those games, I'm just a little burnt out on them in general.

You own, but haven't rated:

LNoE? Get it played man! I'm just in process now of painting my minis for that. The primer is drying on them as I type.

Nexus Ops? I think you're gonna love it.

My advice? Move these to the top of the pile and get them to the table!

Back to what we're here for:

You've got a solid collection. I give it an 8 (out of 10). You've got some classic, older Euros that are good as gateways. You got some deeper games like El Grande and Power Grid. Some great fillers like For Sale, Guillotine and Loot. And you've got a few decent party games too. If my collection were suddenly wiped out and you gave me your collection, I'd be happy as a clam. As soon as I traded Power Grid for Age of Steam.

*Sidenote-It being Halloween season and all, don't forget to whip out your Escape from the Hidden Castle at gatherings! Always a good time during this season.

lightnng: You had me at Amun-Re, and your 10 for El Grande sealed the deal. Too bad, California is such a big state, coz you and I are indeed, simpatico. You go a bit heavier than I usuallly do, with Age of Steam, Die Macher, Indonesia. But your love for Modern Art, Pitchcar, and Lord of the Rings demonstrate that you appreciate quality games in all forms. Power Grid is another highly rated game that we both dig. With 270 games owned, you have a solid collection of games that I like to play. Well done, sir

So I get Randy Cox.

I am honored, sir, although admittedly somewhat overwhelmed by the task of reviewing one of the biggest collections on the geek (1053 games).

I mean, look at this thing - sorted alphabetically, you have 12 games before the letter 'A'!

I first noted the apparent lack of expansions. At only 28, they represent a tiny 2.5% of your collection, which is unusual. Why is that?

Yet I cannot find many of my - and our community's - favorite games. No room for Amun Re or El Grande in over 1000 games? I was prepared to believe that was due to a wargaming bent, but that notion was quickly dispelled by the glaring lack of such games in your collection. It looks like euros are indeed your "thing". What gives, sir? I am also missing Dominion, La Havre and quite a few others that would seem to fit the euro mold.

I was prepared to believe that you don't like heavy games, but your "10" rating of Die Macher quickly dispelled that notion. Still, it seems like shorter games gain much of your attention. The same can be said about party games (and in particular, How to Host a Murder).

One thing I did note is that you do know your games well and have a strong enough feeling about them to rate them on a scale that includes decimals. So you certainly know your stuff, rather than just collect at random.

The more I examine your collection, the more I am struck by a sense that you stopped collecting somewhere along the line. Have you lost the gaming bug at some point?

Regardless, it is hard to view your collection and not be impressed. Well done, sir.
