This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames/RPG's bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our King Minionhunter I and pay your due respects to previous Kings Krazygit I, EvilTimmy I and Blackwind I.
The Order's Anthem: Sing along with our good old thrifty theme song...
Next up, a post Halloween discard. The naysayers give this game poor reviews, but it goes suprisingly well in the weeks up to Oct 31st. I shipped 3 of these this year for a decent total, so this one has a home until next October.
1.50 value village. I was overcome with retro arcade nostalgia! Box in nice shape and includes a sticker with AMY's name on it! It has lots of nice plastic components, so I hope that means it's complete. This game ate more than it's share of quarters back in the day.
1.50 Value Village. Spy v Spy was always one of my favorite strips in the old Mad Magazines, so this was a must buy. It actually looks like it might be fun. The pawns and art are all fitting as are all the little plastic bombs.
0.75 bargain thrift. It's vintage 70's or 60's and very well made. It's basically a "shut the box", but I think the rules were different and the tabs only go to 9. Whatever. I just saw a nice wooden felt lined dice tray. That's exactly the purpose it will be serving from now on!
Edit: Ooh, also forgot it has some spiffy translucent green dice which I'll also be keeping.
Complete with all bits nicely bagged. 0.90 from the Goodwill. The dice have a cheapy lameness about them. The HP symbol is a sticker over the 1 instead of actually being painted on. Other HP games used the same dice and put another sticker on like a cauldron for example.
Despite your hope, there is not even any inherent symbolism; gravity is simply a coincidence.
Managed to snag a copy of this for $50 on eBay, in very good condition. While that's a decent price, that in itself wouldn't make a it a bargain ... except that when I opened the box 15 minutes ago it also included the complete contents of the Banzai expansion, also in very good shape!
I picked up 7 games while on vacation in Myrtle Beach.
Beginning with what apparently is a real dog. AMERICAN IDOL which cost me a quarter at a local thrift store! I know even that might be too much, but there might be pieces in the game that can be used for something else! (hopeful sigh!)
