Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving for us Americans I thought it would be a perfect time to talk about games that are "turkeys." For this list I'm using Tom Vasel's definition of a turkey from his podcast The Dice Tower. Therefore...

A "turkey" is a game that you started out liking but, after playing it some more, your rating has dropped significantly. Note: This is not for games that you didn't like from the start.

If possible, also try to describe why the game lost it's initial shine.

I've started things off with a turkey of my own.

When I first got this game, the concept seemed like genius. I love the idea of pointing foam guns at other players and trying to intimidate them out of their take of the pot. It seemed to work really well the first few times I played. We had lots of laughter and everyone thought it was great.

However the more we played, the more nasty the game became. Players would just pick out one person and start using all their bang cards to kill that person as fast as possible. People would flat out refuse to duck, and no one could remember what their special ability was supposed to do.

I'm at the point now where I just don't have the patience for the game. Each time we play now it seems that I'm dead in the first 4 or 5 turns, and one person always runs away with the pot. The basic idea seems to be sound, but it just doesn't shine with my family playing.

Talisman would be my biggest turkey. It's not that it's a bad game, I just played it way too much. When I was a kid, I must have played it at least a hundred times.

Also not a bad game. I loved it at first. Since then, I just don't want to bring it out that much. There are two reasons: 1) I like games with some luck element; 2) Experience counts for a lot, an experienced player can not really play with somebody who is new to the game. (#3, according to my wife, is that she kept beating me.)
