Merry Christmas Eve!
This contest is for creating Santa variants to you favorite games. The most thumbed variant will win pot of . I only have 2.33 GG so that is in and also any and all tips given. So lets get Santa in some more games. Also feel free to add Santa to your favorite RPG for the contest. This contest runs through Christmas Eve.

ps. It is ok if you have a Santa variant for years past to enter that one as well.

The first spot is the Santa variant I made for Zombie in my Pocket last year. It is also a session report of the variant. You do not have to follow this example in having a session report as well, but it would be cool to see how it plays out.

Good Luck and Merry Christmas to All!

Congrats to our winner of 22.59

This is the Santa variant I made for ZimP last year. If nothing else it is a fun read for the session report. I will be playing my Santa variant again soon.

Beware the coming of the Santa Clan!

Warriors from the frozen north have appeared mystically to every household in Rokugan on the same night, from that of the lowliest peasant to the court of the Celestial Empress herself. Each has delivered a strange message; 'Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!'

Some percieve this incursion as a threat to the Celestial Order itself - a Kolat plot to erode the strict foundations of Rokugani society that separate the nobility from the lowly eta. Others welcome the Santa Clan as distant cousins, lost during the Unicorn's expiditions in the far north. This is not as strange as it sounds, for the furred skins in which the Santa appear are not dissimilar to those worn by the Moto family.

While the Crane prepare small, decorated trees as a sign of welcome and the Lion mobilise their vast armies, ready to march on 'the North', another strange sign appears to the Emerald Empire; a star hangs brightly in the heavens to the west.

The Empress, desperate to unite her people in their response, contacts the Phoenix, Dragon and Scorpion clans, asking them to each send their wisest member as part of a diplomatic party to investigate the mysterious star in the west, even as the shugenja of the Crab clan prepare mystical wards to prevent further invasion by the Santa Clan.

YOU are those wise men. In this game, you will follow the star to your destiny and the future of all Rokugan, or fall along the road and become dust beneath the heel of the Santa Clan!

Work Fast - Santa's watching!

Equipment needed
Any Carcassonne base game
1 marker for Santa
pile of "scored" markers (pence coins, buttons, etc.)

Basic Play
Draw 1 tile
play that tile
place a meeple
move santa
score feature Santa is on and mark it.
Recover meeples from scored features

Play follows normal rules for the set except scoring and the use of Santa.

Santa starts on the start tile, when the first player has played his 5th tile. After that, Santa moves 1 or 2 spaces per turn, starting on the 5th turn. Santa may move orthogonally only, but may combine these into a single diagonal. Santa may not end on a tile he's previously ended on unless no such tile is within range.

Any roads, cities, monasteries, are scored when santa ends on one of their tiles; mark the feature on Santa's tile with a marker. Farms are only scored when santa ends on either the farmer or the pig's space. Once scored, the relevant meeples are pulled as normal; for farmers, either the pig or the farmer will result in both coming off.

If Santa encounters the fairy, the space is not scored, and no marker is placed. If santa encounters the dragon, the dragon goes out of play until the next volcano is drawn. Meeples with Santa or adjacent to Santa are immune to death by dragon or tower.

You replace the Gandalf character with Santa (as they both have a nice beard!).

When Santa meets a Dark character, players give the other player one of the characters they killed (these are "gifts"; Santa chooses, of course); the characters are alive again, and are placed in their starting region!
(If any of these steps cannot be done, the whole procedure does not happen.)

Arkham Horror: the Santa Expansion

"You better not sleep.
You better not cry for I am telling you why.
Santa Clause is coming to town.
He knows when you been sleeping.
He knows when you are awake.
He knows when you've been bad or good so be good for goodness sake or he will sacrifice you to get Great Old Ones and bring misery this Holiday Season."

So set the game up normally ,but make a extra stack of SANTA cards. During the end of the turn Mythos Phase draw a SANTA card as well as the Mythos card. On the location that shows were a clue shows up SANTA shows up as well. If a player has an Arkham Encounter to get the clue token you also draw from the SANTA deck for he has left behind a gift for you in the form of Cookies for health, Money, Spells, Warm Cider for Sanity, Unique Items ,but beware for in the deck there are a few cards that tell you that SANTA was in fact just a SHUGGOTH in disguise and you lose some Sanity or Health as well.

In this variant, instead of shooting bullets, characters give presents. Some of the mean characters give coal. Instead of being shot by bulletts, once all of a player's presents are gone, they go to bed on Christmas eve, with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads.

The characters are chnaged to fit the theme:

Sheriff-->Santa (obviously) -- Wants to make sure everyone will have a Merry Christmas before he goes to bed.
Deputies-->Elves -- Want to help Santa
Outlaws-->the Grinch (or Grinches if there are multiple) -- Want to ruin Christmas by getting Santa to bed before he's ensured sufficient Christmas cheer.
Renegade-->Hermey the Elf (the elf that wants to be a dentist from the Rudolph claymation show) -- Just has his head in the clouds thinking about teeth, wants everyone else to go to bed on Christmas eve so he can hit the books and study for his dental exams.

Enjoy!

This variant is playable with any of the Memoir '44 games, I chose Eastern Front because it fits Christmas with its frozen decor.
The following cards maybe played normally or they maybe used as:
Santa Supply Drop!
Artillery Bombard (Uses 2 die for each unit)
Barrage
Air Power (Axis and Allied die restrictions still apply)

Santa delivers presents! The player using the card may choose an EMPTY target hex anywhere on the board. Victory point hexes may NOT be targeted, if they are adjacent to the targeting hex they are considered a 'No Fly Zone' for his sleigh. Empty simply refers the to absence of a friendly or enemy unit, terrain and buildings maybe targeted as long as they are not VP worthy. Follow the rules on the card and apply the results as outlined below.

The target hex and its adjacent hexes are open to the placing of units (except those that award VP's). The target hex must have at least one figure in it at the end of the play. Normal stacking limits apply (no mix matching units, and no more than 4 per hex).

Roll Results:
Flag Symbol (Always resolved first): Santa spreads his Christmas cheer to your enemy and gives him your supplies! For each Flag rolled give these die to your opponent. Your opponent rolls the die for themselves and applies the results, placing their own units in your target hex or its adjacent hexes as they choose. If the opponents roll results in more Flags, Santa decides your both naughty and the Flag die are removed (not counting for anything). If your opponent is able to shut out your target hex and ALL of its eligible adjacent hexes then you do not get to apply your die.

After the Flags have been resolved and if there are still available hexes apply the rest of your rolls.

Infantry Symbol: May place 2 Infantry figures on the target hex or the adjacent ones. If more than one infantry symbol is rolled it is the players choice to combine the units into one hex or split them into 2's. Normal stacking limits apply.

Tank Symbol:
May place 1 Tank figure on the target hex or the adjacent ones. If more than one tank symbol is rolled it is the players choice to combine the units into one hex or split them. Normal stacking limits apply.

Star Symbol: May place 1 Artillery piece on the target hex or the adjacent ones. If more than one Star symbol is rolled it is the players choice to combine the units into one hex or split them. Normal stacking limits apply.

Grenade Symbol: May place your choice of one of the above per Grenade Symbol on the target hex or the adjacent ones. If more than one Grenade symbol is rolled it is the players choice to combine the units into one hex or split them. Normal stacking limits apply. (Example: When a Grenade Symbol is rolled the player may choose to apply it as a Infantry, Tank, or Star symbol)

After the units are placed the turn passes to the opposing player as normal and the units maybe activated normally per the games rules.

If the opposing player plays a 'Counter Attack' card after the previous player plays any of the above cards they too have the option to make the card a 'Santa Supply Drop', even if the previous player played the card normally.

Artillery Bombard Card Errata:
The card must be played per its rules written on the card, if you have no artillery units with which to utilize the card then it must be played by its rules of "If you do not command any artillery units, issue an order to 1 unit of your choice."

Santa's magic however does override the artillery units normal range when using it as a 'Santa Supply Drop', each unit is given 2 die in this instance as oppose to their range amounts.

When in play as a 'Santa Supply Drop' each artillery unit may STILL target 2 hexes (per the cards rule) as outlined above or may move 3 hexes.

You add a Santa occupation card that gives you 2 food tokens per member of the family, when you play it. If you also have the Christmas Tree minor improvement, you get instead 3 food tokens per member of the family.

Take Citadels and replace each Role with a different version of Santa from around the world. They would basically have the same abilities, just different names.

Assassin - Grandfather Frost - (Russia)
Thief - Pai Natal - (Portugal)
Magician - Weihnachtsmann - (Germany)
King - Santa Claus - (United States)
Bishop - Reyes Magos - (Spain)
Merchant - Jultomten - (Sweden)
Acrchitect - Babbo Natale - (Italy)
Warlord - Christkind - (Austria)

Please note, the associations made between country and citadel role are completely random.

Money would come in the form of xmas cookies; and the buildings would be workshops and elves.

In the How the Grinch Stole Christmas version of Pandemic, players are acting as Santa and his helpers trying to deliver presents to all the cities while keeping the Grinch from ruining Christmas. The object is to get one present (cube) on each of the cities on the board before the end of the night (either deck of cards runs out and a card must be drawn) or before the Grinch gets too many presents (at least 13) of one color.

It plays kind of like Pandemic in reverse.

I posted the full variant in the Pandemic forums: Reverse Pandemic, or How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Edit: This version was getting so many plays in our house that my kids and I made some custom pieces to play it:

I posted this variant 2 years ago:
Quote:
On the second day of Christmas I wanted to play Settlers of Catan with the family. Our children were not very enthusiastic. So I came up with a simple rule to make it more 'Christmas'. The robber is Santa Claus!

The player that rolls a 7 can move the robber - excuse me: Santa Claus - to a tile. Every player with a settlement next to that tile gets a present (1 corresponding resource card). Also the production of that tile is not blocked. You may only choose a tile if another player (also) profits by it. You can also play a knight to move Santa Claus.

Every time a 7 was rolled the children shouted: "Christmas!" Unfortunately we didn't have a little Santa Claus or the resources to dress up the robber, so we used a little Christmas tree from a wooden train set instead.
