I am a big mystery fan (my nick is derived from the fictional detective Nero Wolfe who resides on West 35th St. in New York) So I have always enjoyed playing mystery games. Here is a list of a few that I have played. (And one I have not that I want to)

This list has to start with the Grand Daddy of all Detective games. (I am not including Master Detective, since I consider it the same game)

This is one of personal favorites. The idea that you are questioning the suspects and not other detectives gives me more of a feel for the genre.

Played this as a kid. Not really much of a "Detective" game. All you are doing are racing around to collect pieces to pictures that will reveal who did it. Nothing to deduce.

Got this on sale at a local toy store that was going out of business. Enjoyable, and the idea that one of the players is the killer (and he/she knows it and is actually out there killing others) is a plus.

Again, not really a mystery game...since there is no deduction involved. Race around board getting clues that will eventually eliminate all the suspects but one.

Excellent game. Really makes you think when trying to come up with questions that will help you but not help the other players. The mechanic that allows you to win even if you don't solve the mystery is a plus.

Kind of like Clue's poor cousin. A good game, but again no real deductions involved in solving the mystery.

I had this game as a kid, but for the life of me cannot really remeber too much about the actual game play. I do remember that one of the players is the killer and he is trying to destroy evidence before the other players find enough to pin the crime on him.

These next two games are fun, but are hampered by the fact that have zero replay potential. Each case is already written out and you look up the clues in a book that comes with the game. Once you have solved a particular mystery then you can't play it again. Especially if you have a good memory.

Very similar to 221B Baker street. There are pre-written mysteries to solve. And once they are solved you can't play them again. The "timer" of the train adds to the feel that you have to solve the mystery now, or the killer gets away.

This one is a deduction game where the questions are constrained by a hand of cards you hold. The dynamics are interesting! It makes a nice counterpoint to _Mystery of the Abbey_'s completely unconstrained questions.

Hogarth the Butler, Inspector Grey and The Black Dog join the usual suspects as NPCs. This baby also has a modular board. For these reasons, I believe this should be added to the list. Feel free to delete it if you disagree.

I think this would be a good one for you. I have owned it for many years, read the rules, found it intriguing, but (for some reason) have never actually played it. Someday....

SHERLOCK HOLMES THE CARD GAME by Gibson's -Contains everything regarding following up clues and making arrests in a unique card system with period artwork drawn straight from the original stories. Plays well, lowest score wins after about six rounds of play. Very worthwhile and not to be taken too seriously. Very competitive and each round gives you a chance to make up for lost ground. Starting at Baker Street with "The Game is Afoot" you travel by Hansom Cab or Train to locations, play clues, and deduce who is possibly holding a criminal card and make an arrest. As the game continues, you can have as many as 4 criminals distributed among the players as they are drawn from the pile, but be right about your choice or you can get stuck with someone else's cards that will add points to your total. Perhaps the most "investigative" Detective game among all those mentioned here.

I bought this one at a thrift sale for a dollar. It's more like 20 questions than your typical Clue-esque game. Lots of different scenarios and some are very twisted and hilarious. Deffinatly a great party game.
